Getting Noticed By Management
Seriously I fucking hate driving.I approach every aspect of life with the kind of confidence and bravado most people wish they had,but once I get behind the wheel of a car I lose all confidence in myself. If anyone knows a method to help me relax behind the wheel I would appreciate the advice.

I've been doing that long enough. The way my school schedule is next semester combined with work,I'm gonna have no choice but to buy a car.The money's no problem,I just HATE driving...I guess it's cuz I never really got used to it but it's very scary to me.

This helped me, practice driving with a trailor and then realize how fucking easy driving without one is.

I hate driving too. I can't wait to get my licence so I don't have to do it anymore.

Try drinking a few beers before you drive, that always helps me relax.

dude just get out there and drive. I was scared to death because i grew up with my mom's driving and she is now blind. Think about that when she could still see and didn't want to give up driving. Her eye sight was terrible and it was one of the few freedoms she didn't want to give up. I was scared to start driving but practice makes perfect. To make a long story short her driving scared the shit out of me. So I drive now and any time my mom needs a a ride i can help her out.

Here is what I was taught, at first try and stay off the busier streets as much as possible, even if it means you'll have to go a bit out of your way, you won't have as much traffic to deal with, which should make things a little less stressful, if you do have to drive on a busy street then get into the lane you need to be in right away and don't change, no matter how slow traffic is moving, also make sure you give yourself a little extra time to get to where you are going, if driving already stresses you out, you don't need to add the anxiety of being late to the equation, also until you get comfortable, don't drive with a passenger if you can help it

and as my dad always told me, "Drive with the mind set that everyone else on the road is a fucking ******, and don't know what they are doing, cause there is a good chance they don't"

over time you'll get more comfortable and confident behind the wheel, it just takes time and practice

This is really the best advice possible, especially the part about assuming everyone else is a fucking ******.

Driving really isn't that big of a deal. Don't be afraid to go slower than the speed limit. The speed limit is just that...a limit. It doesn't mean you have to go that speed, it just means you can't go faster than that. If the limit is 65, go 55 if it makes you feel more comfortable. People may honk their horns at you, and zip by you and all, but let's face it...the difference between 55 MPH and 65 MPH is minuscule. Over the course of 60 miles, you save 10 minutes, in ideal conditions. Throw in stop lights, traffic jams, etc., and the time saved is not that big of a deal.

Drive on Interstates and 4 lane Highways. That's about as easy of driving as there is. You get in one lane and go straight. Easy. Other than that, just drive a lot. The more practice you get, the more confident you'll be.

I think the best thing for me will be to just keep practicing. Thanks for all the advice guys.

One of the best things that helped me was having someone in the car who could tell me what every little creak and whirr was. If the breaks were a bit a squeaky, my first reaction was OMIGODTHECARISGONNABLOWUP.

Drive on familiar roads, too.

Wow. I remember learning how to drive. My step dad's F 350 was the first thing I drove. from my house to his parent's. The road is small. I nailed a tree while taking a curve. Then I drove his old Pick Up which is what we use to take the horses. I drove that one in the back yard. Basically I was driving like if it was a Banshee on the hillside. Trust me, when you learn to drive like a maniac and also learn what it feels like to crash into something, you lose the fear. Just make sure you're actually allowed to crash first.

Rox, me and you are like the same person. No, wait, I just dislike driving I'm completely confident behind the wheel.
