Huh...Good Single. Great Album.

I make this thread because a Coheed and Cambria single came out two weeks ago. It is entitled The Broken, and here it is:

It's from their completely not emo Year of the Black Rainbow album that is coming out in April. One month. One month. One month. Oh yes. Oh yes.

This single really settled some doubts I had. First of all, I had heard that the album was being produced by new producers in work with Claudio Sanchez, the lead singer, and the band. I also heard from interviews that it was a newer sound for the band. While I hadn't even come close to hating anything from Coheed and Cambria before then, I was a little afraid.

This album settled anything I might have been worrying about. It does mark a new Coheed and Cambria. The instrumentals are heavier, and Claudio's vocals are lowered to match it. No more high vocals from Sanchez, and my heart dies a little.

At any rate, I want to ask you guys a question. Can you think of any singles from an album that really psyched you up for an album, and turned out making the album for you? I'm hoping for a "I really liked Beautiful by Eminem, and Relapse was awesome!" posts here, in case I wasn't clear.

I'm a huge Franz Ferdinand fan, have been since their first album. When I heard they had a new album coming out last year I went online and pre-ordered it. I got to download the song Ulysses in advance. It had hints of classic Franz, but an overall new sound. I fell in love with the single, and when the album came out I was already in love with the new sound. The CD rocked, one of the best of 09 imo.

It had to be Human by the Killers. I always felt that Sam's Town, while a good album, wasn't exactly what got them on the map. And Human actually made me have a listen at the whole album. The result: One badass hour spent listening to Day & Age.

It was something that I wanted from them and they came through. The album is fuckin' GREAT.

So I just got the single for the new MGMT album Congratulations, which is scheduled for release April, 13th.

I have to say that I'm very impressed, the sounds is different from the first album, but I would say its more similar to their Time to Pretend EP from 2005. I really enjoyed that EP, even more so than the album itself. So I have high hopes that this album will be a bit of a hybrid between the raw sounding EP and the more Pop sounding Album.
