Nelson Cruz put on a show. Fielder hit a 497 ft bomb.

Otherwise, not much. Howard is about to finish up in 3rd, with 7 or 8. Mauer and Pujols still to go.

Howard is overrated as well. 50 HRs is nice, but when you have 200 strikeouts in a season you have no right being mentioned among the elite players.

Should I open the thread for the All Star Game LD now, or wait until the derby is over?

Nothing says summer to me like watching the HR derby and the All Star Game.

He missed a lot of games early, and it saved his body a lot. Instead of squatting behind home plate for 40 or so games, he was rehabbing.

I'd have to agree. He probably won't be a catcher for long though. I heard the Twins were thinking of moving him to 1B or 2B, and moving Morneau to 3B or the OF.

I'd be pissed if they did. He's a solid catcher, why the hell are you going to take away an amazing player from the worst position in baseball? If every team keeps moving their great catchers to different position, that just turns the position of catcher into a perennial loser. There will never be another great catcher again if teams keep doing that.

Pujols is a bit slow to start here, only 1 HR to 5 outs already. I'm pretty shocked by this.

They want/have to move him because he has constant back problems. If they keep him there, he could be done after 2 or 3 more seasons.

And Pujols is depressing me. If he doesn't pick it up, my picks for the finals are out. I'd like to make 3 out of 4, as long as Howard loses badly.
