Reading a writeup of Superstars and thinking about certain superstars, it got me thinking. How could we make some superstars relevant again, whether it's repackaging them and changing their gimmick, turning them face or heel, or whether they'll ever be relevant again.

The first person I was thinking about was Chris Masters. Back in 2005, when he debuted, he was a cocky heel who had a segment every RAW called The Masterlock Challenge. If a person was to successfully escape the Masterlock, they would get paid.

In my eyes, bring this back, make him heel again and see how things go from there. I don't think he'll ever be a WHC or WWE champion, but I believe he could be a solid mid-carder or a part of a dominant tag team.

What do you think

I couldn't agree more. I'm very disappointed in where he has ended up. I think he definitely has potential. Especially in the tag team division. I don't think he has enough to hold his own as a main eventer, but turning him heel, adding another superstar with him, and sending them after the tag titles would do wonders, I think.

Sure Chris Masters has potential, but there is nothing real special about him anymore. Back in 05 he was near the top of the card and working with the likes of John Cena and HBK. He screwed up and paid his dues and got rehired. However Masters didn't click this time around and I'm not sure if he will. I don't think he is anything more than a midcarder nowadays. While a heel turn could do him some favors and give Kofi Kingston some new blood to face off against, I don't think it'll happen. Masters to me is nothing more than a filler guy any more who will occasionally pop up on Raw but mostly be relegated to Superstars. I hope I'm wrong though as I do like me some Chris Masters.

There's still hope for Chris Masters. He's still young. Only 28 if I'm doing my math right. He's still got his career ahead of him. I thoroughly enjoyed his work back when I first watched WWE in 2005. Back when his Masterlock was put over as "unbreakable" I took him seriously as WWE Championship material and saw him as a threat to John Cena's title reign at the time. I figured at the time that if Kurt Angle couldn't take the title off of Cena, Masters would be the one to do it.

At this time, both shows are pretty heel heavy so for Masters to perform on either brand as a heel would risk him getting overshadowed and getting lost in the shuffle. I think Smackdown currently has less faces than RAW so I'd like to see Masters perform on the show and be a contender for the IC title and eventually winning the title. From there, go to dominating the midcard. He's got a great look and can be taken seriously in that role. At the same time, have him sporadically in the main event scene by competing against the top guys to see if he has what it takes to reach and remain at that position. Ahh this is probably all just wishful thinking. Realistically, he'll probably compete on Superstars and get the occasional victory for the forseeable future.

Easy as hell way to make him relevant if you ask me

Point #1 : Add the Spear to his moveset , Edge is gone & Batista is gone and people LOVE the spear (It worked wonders for those two + Goldberg)

Point #2 : Make him heel , have him interrupt championship/contendership matches get chairs and spear people etc. Then have him grab the mic and go for cheap heat + talk about how its his time now etc. It works.

You do that and we would have Chris Masters as a relevant top heel looking strong

Eventually you turn him face again after hes gotten over and a world championship by having him do the pec dance again and making the announcers subliminally encourage you to go "SPEAR! SPEAR! OMG! SPEAR!" lol

I don't know what's up with WWE. They ended their 3rd brand for no reason and now have an excess of superstars who are HARDLY EVER used on the main shows. Chris Masters isn't the only one. The full list is:

• Brodus Clay
• Chavo Guerrero
• Chris Masters
• Curt Hawkins
• David Hart Smith
• Drew McIntyre
• Husky Harris
• Jey Uso
• Jimmy Uso
• Johnny Curtis
• JTG
• Michael Tarver
• Primo
• Trent Beretta
• Tyler Reks
• Tyson Kidd
• Vladimir Kozlov
• William Regal
• Yoshi Tatsu
• Zack Ryder

(Ryder and Kozlov appeared on Raw this week, but it was the first time in months. That was Ryder's first match of 2011 actually. Sad statistic.)

Anyway, imagine if WWE's third brand was composed of all these underused guys. Hawkins and Ryder feuding with The Usos, David Hart Smith is feuding with Tyson Kidd, Yoshi Tatsu is feuding with Chavo Guerrero, Kozlov with Tyler Reks, all while Chris Masters is the #1 Contender chasing ECW Champion Drew McIntyre's title.

Chris Masters is someone that can be a top guy, same with many people on that list. WWE needs to get their shit together ASAP.

MITB is the place to do it.Have him in the match, for SD so he doesnt get overshadowed if his on RAW,then have him come close to winning but make sure the Intercontinental Champion is in the match and have the IC champ pull Masters down and they take themselves out while someone else whose getting a push grab the briefase. Then have Masters feud with the IC champ for a solid 2-3 months before Winning the title and Going on a Dominant run.If he gets over during that maybe he could be a World Title contender again.

Would let him get together with one of the other lesser used guys like Trent Beretta or Tyler Reks and give them William Regal as their manager/mentor and put ryder/hawkins back together and get serious with the tag team division.

After a while you can have Masters turn on his parter and keep Regal as his manager as he works his way up to one of the mid card titles..

"Ended their 3rd brand"? What brand was that?

Anyway, imagine if WWE's third brand was composed of all these underused guys.

Underused superstars are showcased in "Superstars". Right now, Tyson Kidd, Yoshi Tatsu, Trent Beretta, Drew McIntyre, Evan Bourne, and Chris Masters are the men "running" the show.

Primo, Curt Hawkins, and Tyler Reks are the ones who are really left out, whom I felt might have the potential.

As for Johnny Curtis or Michael Tarver, I don't give a damn about them. Michael Tarver is exceptionally good on the mic, but exceptionally bad in the ring; Johnny Curtis is neither... (my personal opinion, of course)

Chris Masters had a lot of potential when he first started back in 2005 to really be a huge superstar. But then he got busted for drugs and got fired. I think that's what really set him back and why he is probably in the position he is currently in. That's the problem with guys who end up getting injured or fired just as they were building momentum. When they return, it's as if they have to start all over again.

I'd like to see Chris Masters go further, maybe become the Intercontinental or United States Champion. Perhaps a heel turn could really help him. He's still young compared to other guys on the roster, so who knows what will happen.

Yes i think masters wasc always better and would be better as a heel.It just worked.but saying that this is what i would do and build it over a few weeks.
1. it doesnt matter if masters is on raw or smackdown - perhaps he could float between the two.
2. have various superstars attacked backstage and to be honest we dont really need to see masters have it as a mystery and then perhaps leave a calling card. he then channels his frustration after one star .
3. change of image/ ring attire and give him a design or logo
4. have him come out in the ring and challenge wrestler x

Chris Master's has alot of potential and is probably in the top ten of in-ring talent in the company today, he's improved so much since he's came in.

I think, if WWE's wants to, they can really build up him as a big face or heel because he will deliver, his match was Drew McIntrye on Superstar's a few week's ago was phenominal. I think it would be cool if atleast Masters was put on television more, becuase alot of his matches are usually good.

"Ended their 3rd brand"? What brand was that?

ECW, and it was fantastic.

Anyway, Masters just needs to win more. Put a guy on TV, have him win some matches, give people a reason to care, and bam, he's relevant again. Masters has a great look and ring skills, so all he needs is a weekly match and a mini-feud. Not rocket science.

I remember watching Chris Masters in the Elimination Chamber at New Year's Revolution in 2006, it was his birthday and everyone was talking about how this young spectacle of a man had such a bright future and was going places, it is now the future and the only place he has gone is Superstars :p But in all seriousness, Masters can still bring it to the ring. As DDP said above me, all he needs to do is start racking up wins, then he'll get more tv time, have him get a little win streak going and say that he has reinvented himself or something. Give him a feud with someone like D Mac and have him take the guy out, then The Masterpeice shall return to relevance

Chris Masters won't return to that 2005 form sadly. Seems like after he violated the wellness program Vince has sorta kept Masters is the lower card. I remember the picture of him returning to the development program from his suspension and his flabby skin looking like Ric Flair. He rebounded nicely when he came back I thought a bit smaller but still with the superstar look. They kept alluding to the fact that he looked "more fit and lighter on his feet."

But I don't see him getting back to that previous success. Unless your a big name, your lucky not to get fired after violating the wellness policy in the WWE. Masters is still around because he is a good worker and he can play the roles of heel and face well. There are plenty of other superstars in the same situation as Masters.
