Getting Noticed By Management
There's a place in Boston (maybe it's a bigger chain than just Boston, but I haven't seen them anywhere else) called Tasty Burger that tries to re-create the whole "Burger and a shake" scene but with a 21st century twist. It's a sit-down/carry-out restaurant, and while I usually do the sit-down thing if I go, one time I elected to get the sack of 5 burgers to take home so I can enjoy them properly.
Properly.
That sounds stellar, reminds of a themed restaurant we had around here as a kid. They tried to recreate the 50's burger and shake restaurant. It was actually pretty cool when it first opened, plus they had a full blown arcade put in when most places were shutting theirs down.
A newer restaurant/sports bar around here has some pretty good burgers too. Specialty ones such as a fried egg on a bacon cheeseburger (of coursed called a Heart Attack Burger). I'd go there more often but the service is horrendous. I called for take out one time, stopped in and asked the nearest waitress where I pick up my order. She ran around checking with all the other servers while I waited for a good 10 minutes, finally the bartender did the smart thing and checked the system, turns out it was the waitress running around checking with everyone else that took my order. 20 minutes later I finally got my order that wasn't kept in a warmer or anything like that. Still don't understand why any of the servers could just ring up my food, not like I was going to tip them anyway.
I'm usually pretty lenient when it comes to service. I'm not a hard ass when I'm at a restaurant, if you check in once or twice after the food's been served, that's good enough by me. However if it's absolutely horrendous as the story above (and that was just picking up food, I've had bad times dining in at that place too) then I won't go back. I understand if you're busy sometimes service isn't the greatest, but there was 5 other people in the place besides me.
