I'm a bit strange with languages due to my poor memory. I can read French pretty fluently but can't speak it, same to a lesser extent with Spanish.

I'm much the same. Although it's been some time, I've found that being able to read Latin and understand it when it's spoken(although I can't speak it), helps me understand German, French, and Spanish.

It actually helps me in my work to be able to take on a more diverse clientale then I would otherwise. I still find myself disappointed that 4 years of studying it, and I can't speak it much.
