How can Ted Dibiase be saved?

Its never to late for Ted. I just think creative is to involved in building up other talent. Ted's time will come.

I have a idea for Ted.

1. The jealous/ psycho boyfriend.

Ted's love for Maryse is the one thing that pushes him to the edge. Maryse discovers this and purposely flirts with Ted's opponents before each mach to set him off. Ted's jealous fury puts him on a good winning streak. At the same time adds more depth to his character.

A couple of weeks ago Maryse walked off and left Ted in the wring because she was not pleased that he lost. Ted then gave her this evil/ psychotic look that gave me this idea.

I really think that Ted could play this type of character really well. He has the size, and his resent bearded or scruffy look adds to it.

I dont think he can be saved to be honest they killed his character and i hate to say it but i think his best bet is going to be TNA

I think he should have left legacy a better way. But since he didn't what do you say, bring up Bret Dibiase from development. They can form a tag team and Maryse can manage them. They can be called, Born Better or something. They can have a run or two with the tag titles and then Ted and Maryse can turn on Bret. Now Ted and Bret can have a feud that lasts a couple months, that way it's better than when the Hart Dynasty just split up and wrestled a match or two. It will get Ted heat if he turns on his brother and Bret over with the crowd as a face. Now, Ted can then move up and go after the Intercontinetal championship because I would like to see him on Smackdown. Eventually he would go after the world title.

DAMN ESSJAY76 beat me to it.I had a year of storylines wrote out for Ted Jr.!!!
1.hire Henry to be his bodygurd and do a wrestler/bodyguard fued with Kidd & Andrews,
then after his rookie is elimanted in NXT hire him to be his 2nd body guard(Clay was a real life bodyguard for SnoopDogg!!)
2.get rid of Marysse, but keep some arm-candy,im thinking NXT3 winner Kaitlynn.
3.Sigh his little bro to a WWE deal and join him, henry, clay, kaitlynn in his new stable MONEY INC 2.0...He can also sign his fcw tag team partner in Mike McGillicutty, maybe even husky harris.he will be sorrounded by huge men,and can buy some of them there way into a money in the bank where they help him when, then later on they beat up a face champ like Jomo or Cena...
4.with all the sucess going to his head he starts to treat little Brett & others like crap.now i see him losing the money, but not from a gold digging kaitlynn or if marysee is still around, but from baby brother.using Daddy who ted jr has outkast & said he is better than to help stop the trust fund & give it to baby Brett!!! Brett takes control of Money Inc 2.0,and has all the mucsle turn on ted and beat him and leave him in the ring battered and beaten
5.have ted return in a month, having not shaved in a month.wearing some old-school trunks like they wore in the 70's, just one solid color, like blue or something.have him cut a promo saying how his family and friends outcast him.and now he is broke for the 1st time in his life, but these actions forced him to see the error of his ways, and even though he won the belt he never felt like a true champion, but he has vowed top show the WWE universe that he is a champion and he will climb the WWE ladder and show the fans he is a true champion.
finally have him start from the bottom, beat a few low-card guys, which will start a win streak for his 1st face run, then have him in a month go into a fued with baby bro for the IC title, then continue on to win the US title at the same time..then earn hisa way to the main event at WRESTLEMANIA by winning the 2012 ROYAL RUMBLE.Next night on raw cut a promo & say he is no longer a greedy man,he doesnt want all the gold, and he is vacating his 2 titles.shocking every1 he then announces he only wants 1 title, the title his dad could never give him, because his father never held it,he wants the WWE title whitch is now being held by a super heel Randy Orton. setting up the semi main event for WRESTLEMANIA 28, whitch will of corse be headlined by Cena & Taker.
THIS WOULD DEFINATELY MAKE TED A SUPERSTAR.HE WILL NEVER BE FACE OF THE COMPANY.BUT THAT TYPE OF YEAR LONG STORYLINE DRAMA WOULD BE GREAT FOR HIS CAREAR,AND COULD ALSO HELP CLAY AND BRETT IN THERE CAREAR,AND GIVE KAITLYNN ANG MARK HENRY SOMETHING TO DO.

I agree that his character could be turned into something else besides jobbing to Daniel Bryan, which by the way is getting very old very fast to see them fight over and over again. Seeing Ted turn into "just another person on the roster" wasn't exactly what I planned on happening after his Wrestlemania match with Orton and Rhodes. Speaking of Rhodes, look at his character, he looked like the runt of the litter during Orton's stable, and now he's on Smackdown with a gimmick. Ted on the other hand has done nothing but have Maryse by his side and lose matches. I'd like to see Ted fight Kofi and have a legitimate feud.

I think that Ted should run--not walk--away from anything that smacks of his dad's gimmick. Alot of his moves are almost a copy of what his dad did in the ring.

What has separated successful generations from their fathers was a difference in their characters. Take Cody or even Randy. Not a thing like either of their fathers.

What worked for an audience in the 80s or 90s won't work now. Yes, I loved the Million Dollar Man back in the day. However it would not come across as well right now.

I do think that he has gotten less effective in the ring. Not something I would peg as being an outside problem. He just looks like he would rather be fishing than in the ring. Cody works his gimmick. Even if you hate it, he does work it for everything it can get him.

Ted is just...meh....

I want a veteran to come back and manage him but not his father. His father is respected by the WWE Universe so it would be hard to get them heat. Now I think someone who would be the perfect mentor for Ted Jr. is JBL. They both have that cocky rich style gimmick. I just think they would be the perfect fit. Look at this scenario.

For weeks Ted comes out and says he has a mentor. He can take out several mid card guys and say his mentor told him to do it. Noone will know who the mentor his but everyone thinks it is his dad. Finally Ted says he is going to reveal his mentor the next week. Ted and Maryse come down to the ring the following week on Raw. He says his mentor is a very smart business man who has experience in the ring and with money. Ted Dibiase Sr. music hits and he comes down to the ring. He tells his son that he never told him to attack anyone. He says he is still his mentor and will do anything for him but he has to listen. Ted Jr. tells his dad thanks for being there for him. He then hugs his dad but knees him in between the legs. This would generate so much heat. He grabs the mic and says his dad was never there for him as a kid and he has nothing to do with his dad because he is better. He announces that his dad isn't his mentor and asks for his mentor to please come out. JBL's music hits and the limo arrives. He comes out to the ring and cuts a promo saying that he will lead and guide Ted Jr. in the right direction unlike his father.

That whole segment would get Ted Jr. a lot of heat and he would continue to get heat if he got paired with JBL. Bradshaw wouldn't wrestle, he would just be Ted's manager but Maryse would be there too. He might work a tag match or two with Ted Jr.

What do you guys think? You think JBL would help him get over?

I've been rewatching a lot of his old promos with cody rhodes as the legacy against D generation X and all i have to ask is what happened to ted? he had such great talking skills back when he was with legacy, now it seems that all he can amount to is being whiny about being compared to his father, be whipped by maryse and then job to r truth, whatever happened to teddy!?

It's quite easy how to "save" Ted Dibiase. The problem with wrestling nowadays though is the wrestlers have such little time to develop their skills and develop their character before they're thrust in the limelight and forced to either make or break themselves on the grand scale of WWE. Back in the day wrestlers, like Ted's father, had years in the territories to become skilled on all levels before the Million Dollar Man ever even got to the WWE. Ted Dibiase Jr. is just starting out, he's so young that he still has a huge amount of time for a career in the future, so it's not as if he's on the verge of losing his opportunity to really shine. He's not even ready to shine, yet.

That being said, the WWE can start giving Ted Dibiase something to work with. He was paired up with Maryse, but they haven't exactly had any interesting storylines or been pushed to any degree since they've been together. They haven't been given much chance to develop their characters beyond generalities and need to be given more time to cut promos, etc. Even when Ted Dibiase was in Legacy he and Cody were just in the background and used as lackeys to Randy orton, not developed as individual characters within the stable as Randy Orton and Batista were allowed to develop back when they were in Evolution.

Cody Rhodes right now on Smackdown has been given the opportunity to develop a character, has been given time to cut promos and do vignettes to further that character, and that's really something Ted Dibiase Jr. hasn't to the same degree. And right now Dibiase's just jobbing in matches every week and nothing more, which isn't really doing anything to help his position. What they need to do is allow him platforms to develop his character further. I think they should also get rid of Maryse and give him Awesome Kong when she debuts, using her in a similar way that Ted Dibiase Sr. had Virgil for. It would give Dibiase a new and interesting layer, and also give Awesome Kong a really good role to start off in.

I'd also like to see the Nexus gone on RAW and when that happens I'd really love to see Ted Dibiase LEAD a stable with Michael McGilliculty and Husky Harris playing off the Fortunate Sons idea. They could even bring in Dibiase's younger brother by that time. I think that's what needs to be done with Dibiase, because with the little he has been given I think he's shown he's totally competent at wrestling and at talking on the mic, he just needs more time and opportunity to strengthen his skills and develop a character further.

They definitely need to split him and Maryse, she is supposed to be a gold digger and he only wants her as arm candy, but she yells at him like a wife, why would he put up with that? it's illogical storyline wise, which is a shame because I think they could have played off each other well if given some decent angles, even if Ted looks scared to look at her at times in case his wife sees.

Maryse also spends too much time getting herself over during his matches rather than complimenting Ted, but that is the fault of management because she isn't being guided on how to valet like Melina did for Nitro and Mercury.

I'll go with the obvious answer here and get him away from Maryse.

The other thing I'll go with here is drop the money thing and go with something else. The rich DiBiase thing was done to perfection in the late 80s. Why try to emulate something that has already been done perfectly when the kid isn't nearly as good? Go with something else and let him figure out his own thing. I'll get rid of this whole "I'm DiBiase's son" aspect that is killing him right now.

WWE should of had him come into WWE with HHH old gimmik the Connecticut Blue Blood gimmick. Done right that would of gotten him over with the fans like it did HHH.

DiBiase needs a huge gimmick change and fast. The guy is not very charismatic, and as far as wrestling skills goes I've never saw him time enough in the ring to judge properly, which is not very good either. Maryse is awesome at getting heat but right now DiBiase is getting to be an expert how to suck the life out of an arena and that could spell the end of his era in the WWE.
I think a good way to save him would be to make him a creepy guy that attacks a lot of people backstage, a hint of Snitsky I would say (although they look very different )

ya know its funny because you almost forget cody is dusty's son cause he's done so well on his own but its hard to forget for ted. i guess the fact that he's got the same first name too contributes but i didnt really like ted anyway.
but i do like the look now i swear some guys just need facial hair to have a better look and be taken more seriously.
i think ted will be midcard forever though.
which im okay with. not everyone can be on top.

I would love too see Skip Sheffield as his virgil. Since Maryse is testing Ted I think that Ted has too gain momentum in the next couple of weeks to gain her trust again. Then I see Ted on a few winning streaks leading up to Wrestlemania. He will participate in the Money In The Bank and come just short.

After that I still see him on a roll. When the draft comes, Maryse will go to Smackdown and Cody Rhodes will come back to Raw. Ted will come to Smackdown here and there to check up on Maryse. Anyways back to Raw, the first Raw Cody gets drafted Ted and Skip ask Cody to help him win the US championship. Cody refuses and Ted remarks that Cody will repay. I see Ted and Skip beating down on Cody for month or so until somebody like Khali stops it.

It will be a non-stop rivalry against these 4 and I see it ending in survivor series with Cody and Ted being their teams captains respectavily. After that Cody and Ted shake heads and remain on good terms for so forth. Then I see Ted fighting for the US Championship. After 3 months he finally gets it and maybe getter a bigger push to the main event scene.

I have never and likely will never like Ted DiBiase. For me, he is far too boring to be considered anything other than the son of a hugely more successful wrestler. It is unfortunate that it has come to this because at one point Ted was being billed for great things and now it looks as though his best days may be behind him. In my opinion, he certainly doesn't deserve to be saved form where he currently languishes... He hasn't done anything to prove me wrong.

I feel sorry for him, to some extent. He has come into the WWE and has had everything given to him by WWE Creative and now,. When plans are seemingly are thin on the ground, he is one of the guys who needs to take a back seat. It must be hard to go from being one of the guys who was leeching off of Randy Orton and feuding with Shawn Michaels and Triple H, to being one of the most forgotten guys on the WWE roster. Ted has some talent in the ring but the WWE have handled him very badly since he left Legacy and missed a step by not having him have a meaningful feud with Randy Orton. When it comes to his salvation though, I really don't see anything on the cards for him in the near future and I am less than broken up about that fact.

For me, Ted needs to go back to FCW and work on his personality. He is the most boring competitor on the WWE roster and although the WWE might have had some faith in him in the past, he is far from what he was. He doesn't have the fan support to be relevant or the charisma to make people care about what he has to say. He needs to work on becoming a more attractive personality for the fans and then he may be in a position to come back and make an impact in the WWE. Will that happen though? I seriously doubt it. If he doesn't show us that he can be successful in the next couple of months though, I fear that he may be on his way out. I just don't see anything on the cards for Ted and that might be for the best. I have never been a fan of his work and he has pretty much been an absent personality over the last couple of weeks anyway.

After watching this weeks ep of NXT, it seems as if Ted may be getting somewhat of a push, well hopefully anyways.

He beat Daniel Bryan clean in an amazing match. If you get a chance, definitely try and watch this match, you will not be disappointed. I wasn't keeping time, but i'd say it was well over the 10 minute mark.

Yes, he doesn't have much personality so to speak, but he has great in ring work, and easily matched it with DB.

Great match.

They need to pull the trigger on the "Fortunate Sons" angle they had planned and seemingly scrapped when Brett DiBiase injured his knee in FCW. It could still come to fruition with Ted as the leader of the group this time, with perhaps Ricky Steamboat and even Mike Mcguillicutty when the Nexus angle runs its course.

What they need to do is establish Dibiase as the leader of the stable, sort of like Orton was within Legacy. Even if it's only to chase the US title at first, DiBiase needs a group of people surrounding him to make him look credible. What's more, having him as the leader of a stable of second generation superstars gives him instant credibility. Playing up the idea of having Hall of Fame fathers making them superior to the rest of the roster with DiBiase as leader would certainly be a career boost.

The only other way I could see DiBiase truly being "saved" would be a face turn. Ive always been of the belief that a wrestler needs both a run as a heel and a face before we can truly judge them as successful or not. In turning face, DiBiase could denounce his father's trust fund and rid himself of Maryse, noting that money can't buy hapiness. He could go on and earn the respect of the fans with this type of angle. It would work right now because DiBiase is on a long losing streak, and most people tend to want to cheer for the underdog. Any match DiBiase is in at this point, he's exactly that.

They gave DiBiase a good start by booking Ted over the United States Champion Daniel Bryan on NXT last night. Other then the Jericho/Bryan match on the first episode of NXT season 1, this was the best match in the history of NXT. This is exactly the type of match that DiBiase and Bryan should be featured in on Raw, and more importantly, DiBiase got the clean victory. Its good to give a heel a clean victory every once in awhile, although it would have been nicer had it been on Raw. Perhaps this is the start of how they're rebuilding DiBiase, as he's certainly become a sympathetic figure with his rookie dumping him and Maryse constantly treating him like he's worthless. So either a face turn where DiBiase earns his place with clean victories, or "The Fortunate Sons" stable with DiBiase as the leader would work for me. DiBiase can still be saved.

Yes, I was watching NXT live this week and that match really was amazing. And I'm so glad Dibiase won. I would have liked the idea of his rookie winning the tag belts with him, but he was betrayed... and it made sense, but I thought they could be a great force. Anyway I think Dibiase is good enough to at least be amongst mid-carders such as Drew McIntyre and competing with the likes of Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger. I'm not ready for him to go face yet even though it might be headed that way. I think he should get more over as a heel first. I felt they coulda done more with the Million Dollar belt but this works out good for his gimmick to be "cocky trust fund legacy wrestler looks for his identity as WWE superstar apart from legend father." I see U.S. champion later this year. I think in the next year or two there should be another match with Randy Orton and have it NOT be a squash.
I also like the "travel the world" Bruce Wayne gimmick/strategy for success, but realisticly, he's here already and I, for one, would rather see him slowly build credibility here in WWE than to have him leave. I find that he's one of my favorite mid-carders in terms of what I think could be in store if they work it right.

It amazes me how "fans" can write someone off so soon into their careers these days... Ted has been active for a little over 4 years... Ted Sr. had 15 years when he joined the WWF as the Million Dollar Man...

The best thing for Ted Jr. is to get a bit more seasoning, travel the world, make it part of his gimmick even that he is wrestling people from all over to make himself the best... Send him out to Japan and Europe for a bit. With his "money" he could have almost a Bruce Wayne gimmick.

For starters, they can get rid of that awful and ridiculous entrance music he currently uses. The "Priceless" entrance was perfect and should be brought back.

They really had him headed in the right direction: Virgil was an awesome approach, I thought he should have kept him longer though. The Million Dollar Title was awesome, but the big mistake was not having him defend it. I even love the addition of Maryse and The Million Dollar Couple idea. But it's not going anywhere right now and it's stale.

They have taken away all of his momentum. He needs to attack a big name and start a legitimate feud. But all the big faces are involved in major feuds, so it would probably have to wait until after WM. I wish he would attack Edge and jump over to Smackdown. Him and Cody Rhodes had great chemistry together, they should realign.

The BEST way to save DiBiase? Have him run into the Miz vs Orton match... and screw Orton out of the win. Then, they can have him do the same thing in the Elimination Chamber match Orton is 100% guaranteed to be in. DiBiase can talk about how he's sick of seeing the Viper, and talk about Legacy and how terrible Orton was. He could go on about how he's sick of seeing Randy in the Main Event when Legacy was only as successful as it was because he was there.

It could work. It's kinda hard to get over unless you associate yourself with Barret or Punk nowadays.

Remember in 2008, on Smackdown, MVP was on a massive losing streak, and the WWE higher ups "took" away all his flashiness and razzamatazz. The streak lasted for 5 months, before he was given his first win....and became a face in the process.

The storyline is almost similar to what's happening to Dibiase now. His girlfriend is fed up with him, and his rookie dissed him, all because he hasn't won since early November.

I think it would be a refreshing change for Dibiase, if he were to turn face. It would certainly give him SOMETHING to do. He's got the skills (on the mic and in the ring), he just needs a chance to showcase them.

I fully expect Del Rio to move over to Raw in a few months and I think putting Dibiase with him in some capacity could work wonders for his career. Both are rich, so there is an instant attraction there and common ground. Add to that Ricardo Rodriguez who could become more prominent.

They dont have to be a tag team, just allies. Del Rio could have the Title and Dibiase the US Title. Give this little power trip some crediblity.

And before people start talking about stable overload, I remember when D-X, The Harts and The Nation were all on Raw.
