Have we had enough of Rey Mysterio?

Until Rey is unable to do the same stuff he does currently (flying seated sentons, hurracanranas, 619, etc.) I'm not gonna be tired of Rey, especially considering he's slowly shaken off the David v. Goliath gimmick and fought people more his size. I wouldn't put the title on him again since I still find it funny to call it the World Heavyweight Championship when he's 5'6", 175 lbs. But I would love him to tease main event on occasion, like see him be the third piece in triple threat matches, be part of championship scrambles, things like that.

Primarily I would keep him in the same spot he's in now, in the midcard putting up great feuds against the likes of CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, and Chris Jericho. I would love to see Rey tear it up with John Morrison again, and we still haven't seen a Drew McIntyre match yet, I don't think. That would be cool.

In my opinion Rey is still great. Watch is last 20 matches or so. About 16 of them were at least good and most of them entertaining, but still pretty unimportant. He is a guy you should have on every card to pull out a great match. He's doing fine right now as a midcarder. He does his job very well and I'd love to see him holding the WWE Title right before he retires for two months or so. I think he deserves that.

When i first started following wrestling and the wwe, i did not like rey mysterio, but after ive seen him wrestle, i dont mind him. in fact, i even root for him most of the time. he is a very good wrestler and at on epoint was the best there was. now, however, he is fighting midcarders like C.M. Punk(although many people think that punk isn't a midcarder). what happened to the matches against HHH and the undertaker. i haven't had enough of rey, i just think that they're not utilizing him as much as they can be. he has enough potential to be one of the faces of the wwe, and i still think he is, but he's just not as good as he used to be.

I'm not tired of him at all. He continues to put on great matches and he's been involved in some interesting feuds, particularly over the course of this past year. He might not be as agile as he once was, but he's a much better overall wrestler now than he was 10 years ago.

Not really tired of him, but I become one of those blind IWC fans who totally bitch about things whenever he got a main-event title shot. He's great when he faces off against someone his size or league, but totally lame against taller folk. A major title reign will not help him out and just reinforce our beliefs -- unless the tall folk were to be taken out of the main-event picture.

I'm glad that someone brought this up besides me. I have hated Rey Mysterio's character for years!!! Let me back up some. Back in WCW when there was a crusierweight division I loved it. Dean Malenko is one of my all time favorite Wrestlers along with Jericho. Everybody know they came from this division along with Chris Benout, Eddie Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon and Rey Mysterio. I loved them all but Malenko was my favorite. Anyways, I started to dislike Mysterio when he lost his mask an joined the Filthy Animals (My friend loved this group). I hate this group and hated Mysterio's character. He was this little punk ass mexican wrestler who wore overalls and devil horns! REALLY! REALLY! HATED HIM until he debuet with WWE

Once he came to WWE, he had the mask back on and had bulked up *cough* Steroids*cough* and was fresh again. He is a highly talented wrestler and I enjoyed watching him again. But then WWE did something with him. They made him this little invincible peice of shizz. I mean this guy NEVER puts anyone over. Now maybe I should blame the writing team, but Mysterio has just gotten so damn stale and boring. He's a bit of a politicer too. He was supposed to drop the IC belt to Dolph, but refused. Then got suspended and dropped it to Morrison instead. Now Dolph has lost all momentum.

What i'm saying is, for the last several years I've been bored to death with his character to the point I hate it everytime I hear his music. And even though he can still wrestler a decent match, the outcome is almost always the same. He wins. The only REAL loss he's had was to Batista. He should have lost to Punk at mania and joined SES but No. Instead they have a rematch where if Punk loses Rey shaves his head but nothing happens to Mysterio.

How many times did he beat Eddie Gueerero during the whole Dominic saga? 5? 6? 7? It was embarrassing to Eddie

I can't even talk anymore about this i'm Done

For Once Rey, before you get ANOTHER surgery on you LEFT knee and retire, help elevate someone else to the next level like everyone did for you in your career. Don't be remebered as another Triple H

Absoultely not. Mysterio brings something to matches that no one else can do EVEN if he's getting older. Now that Smackdown has lost it's top face, Mysterio will probably get showcased a lot more (even though he may be taking time off).

I want Rey to pass the "Ultimate Underdog" theme off to Evan Bourne. I'd like it start with Bourne trying to pull that gimmick with Kane. Then Rey become furious he's trying to steal his limelight. I think Rey and Matt Syda... I mean, Evan Bourne could put on some great matches, and they'd be some great high flying. Plus Kane could be used to transition the feud, and Kane can make both wrestlers look great. (Even though I hate seeing Kane be a jobber.)

Although I think this will never happen. I think Rey's in the same class as Cena. He's over with the kids, and can sell the crap out of T-Shirts. He can only do that if the kids love him.

Yes. Emphatically. I think Ducey13 said everything I was thinking, although I have less vitriol, but I'll add some things. Loved Rey during WCW and wished he was part of the Invasion. I still remember the Smackdown he debuted on when he attacked whatever that Canadian group was called(Un-Americans?) by jumping on them from on top of the cage. But then he became Superguy. It was fun in WCW when he faced Nash or Flair because it would have been a huge upset if won. Now it's par for the course and it's boring. I don't think I've ever seen his character be humbled in a feud. The boiling point for me was Extreme Rules where they stacked the deck against Punk, the heel, by having a one sided stipulation match.

And while it annoys me when others complain about finishers I have to complain about the 619? Seriously. It was a feint attack in WCW that he did to guys outside the ring. He used the X-Factor as a finisher most time which, while bad was at least slightly more believable. And then to follow that up with him softly splashing someone from the top is ridiculous. His matches have become boring and routine and I too hope he either takes a long break and comes back fresh or just retires.

I think what Rey needs is for the Cruiserweight Title to come back. I like Mysterio, if for nothing else, he reminds me of how good we had it in the '90s but do they really expect us to believe that he can consistently defeat heavyweights in a normal wrestling match? I can see if it was an extreme rules match or street fight(I've seen smaller guys fuck up bigger guys in street fights here in the mean streets) where he could use weapons and run around a bit but in a normal match, he has to get in the ring. Sure he could get out of the ring and try to use his speed but all a guy like Kane or Batista has to do is wait in the ring to get their hands on him because he has to come in to win and that's when, realistically speaking, they can decimate him. This is why wrestling has weight divisions, I mean, even when guys like CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, or Cody Rhodes competes against "true heavyweights" they're pushing it.

I can't say I've had enough of him, not by a long shot. Now I understand he can't do it like he used to be able to. It's close, but not the same, and I think that comes from having to adapt to the fact that there is no cruserweight division in the WWE anymore. In truth, Rey has had to adapt to being a little man in a big man's world. I have to say that I do have a lot of respect for how he's managed to adapt and he's still able to stay relevant regardless.

To be honest, he's one of the last truly heroic figures that the WWE has left. True, they've got John Cena, but beyond him, who have they got in the main event? Rey is the true depiction of the classic hero, going up against near impossible odds, sometimes even winning, but always refusing to back down.

Alright, to a certain extent, I can see how some people point to a lack of recent "accomplishment" in terms of titles. I'd like to point out that titles happen at the whimsy of the creative team and have absolutely nothing to do with the wrestler himself other than how well he fits into the stories that Vince McMahon approves. Vinnie is in to big guys which Rey is not. Need I say more?

Lastly, I think a large part of the problem in people disliking Rey is that he's too much of a good guy. For some reason, many people want a wrestler who could go evil or snap back to good at the drop of a hat, who have more personal problems of their own causing. Rey is actually a good guy, a family man, who would not ever be believable in a heel role, at least in the persona he's in now. Perhaps that has caused him some trouble. If he were to be allowed to turn heel once or twice, maybe this portion of the fan population would enjoy him more. Just a thought.

I used to really enjoy watching Mysterio in ECW and WCW but I really hate watching him "wrestling" I feel he is really stale, boring and just appealing to the kids.

i no i speak for a lot of people when i say, ofcourse we haven't, i luvseeing rey in wwe, i never expect him him to jump ship to tna ever, but that beingsaid, the question is, has rey had enough of the "E"?

he is currently moaning again about his contract, asking for more money. if this continue, he may no longer be here, but vince doesn't really want to lose him, if you don't know vince is looking for mexican stars, and i believe he has found one aswell.

back to the topic, rey is still great in the ring, i don't think anyone wants to see him leave just yet.

1st post ever so Ima keep it short. Rey hasen't been tha same since he took off tha mask N joined tha Filthy Animals. Totally cosign Duecy13
