Have we had enough of Rey Mysterio?

First of all I'm a huge Rey Mysterio, but what has he done the last few years. He's been in a few World title matches(but only won once), thats about it. In 2004-2006 Rey was one of the best stars in WWE. He's not anymore, all the moves he does now are the senton, 619, cross body, and kicks. I know he's older now, these days I don't see him as a huge WWE wrestler anymore. He's still got it in him. I think if WWE gives Rey the World title again and hold on to it for a year, also beating people like Undertaker, HHH, or Batista it would help out Rey. I don't see it happening any time soon. He's now going against people like C.M. Punk and mid-carders. Have you had enough of Rey?

No I haven't had enough of Rey, even if he gets older and a little less agile in the ring, I still think his matches are exciting and he still has more speed and a great move set considering his age.
And I don't think Rey should be holding a world title for that long, because to me, he's not a champion I wanna tune in to watch, I'd gladly watch him with a mid-card title, but I just don't find interest with him as a world champion above the other potential people.

I think Rey is doing good. CM Punk is an extremely well matched opponent for Rey. And besides, since his time as world champion, he has become a 2 time IC champ. He also constantly stole the show with Chris Jericho, and put John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler over extremely well.

Rey is still amazing and quite frankly I don't care if hes world champion, it would be cool to watch Rey as the world champ again, but it really doesn't matter at this point.

Yeah I have to agree with Sasori. He had a good fued with Ziggler and Jericho. I still enjoy Mysterio alot. He puts on Great Matches and he puts his body on the line ever high flying luchador style wrestling he does.

I am tired of Rey. Don't get me wrong, I was a HUGE fan of his in WCW, and when he first came to the WWE. He did moves nobody else had ever seen, let alone attempted. But, how many times can they do the same "Rey is a huge underdog" storyline? Granted, he is feuding with guys more his size recently, but, how long until the WWE goes back to the David and Goliath schtick for him again? He can't be what he used to, and with his size, if he can't do the fast paced luchadore stuff consistently anymore, what good is he? He was a gimmicky wrestler to begin with, filling the role of the short speedy acrobatic guy, whose ability to fly keeps him in matches against the bigger wrestlers. Every wrestling organization has at least one of those guys, and the WWE has more than him doing that currently. Basically, they needed him for a while, but have replaced him. Now that he can't do the gimmick anymore, not like he did, what does he have left? I don't hate Rey, I just think it might be time for him to hang it up. Pass the perpetual underdog torch to someone else, like Evan Bourne or something.

I have had no where near enough of Rey. He is still one of the best performers the WWE has to offer. Last year he had the best matches out of anyone on the roster. From match with Dolph Ziggler to Chris Jericho, he was superb in a lot of his matches. He also doesn't need a world title. People don't buy him as champion and although it may get the WWE a lot of merchandise sales his reign would be as sucky as the first time. Rey is a very valuable asset to the company and I feel they are going to be lacking in quality matches in the mid card when he leaves the company.

Definately have not had enough of Mysterio. He is getting up there in age and has his injury problems, but what do you expect someone that has worked at a very high rate and taken risks his whole career? He still puts on quality matches when given the chance. His work with Jericho/Punk has been some of the best he has had in a few years. He is HUGELY over with the younger fans/latin fans. He still sells a good bit of merch, and he also acts as an ambassador to the Spanish speaking areas the WWE would like to capitalize on.
So I think he still has a few good years left in him. Maybe he wont get the world title again, but I definately see him getting the IC title/US Title again at the very least.

No not tired of Rey, tired of Rey's generic babyface character. When was the last time he had a storyline that didn't involve him being "David" and the underdog that makes little kids think anything is possible no matter how big you are? It gets kinda boring, he needs a little more depth for me.

A heel turn would be so cool to see since Rey is more of a super face than even Cena is. I know they won't turn him because he is over and the kids love him, but I personally would love to see it. I really hope Punks win at Mania and instead of fighting it he joins the S.E.S. I know it won't happen but I can dream can't I.

I've always loved Rey Mysterio. He's been in my Top 5 favorite superstars from the start. And I do agree that Rey Mysterio has gone down a step in his in-ring abilities. I loved watching Rey Mysterio wrestle earlier in the decade, especially when he was wrestling outside of the Cruiserweight division, and against mid-carders, and occasionally, main eventers.

However, his step down has not in any way made to tired of Rey Mysterio. I understand how he isn't in his late 20's and early 30's anymore. I understand how he's been in the business for 2 decades already. I understand how his knee and his bicep is still fucked up from his 2006 and 2008 injuries. I get all that! And that is why I HAVE NOT HAD ENOUGH OF REY MYSTERIO... AT ALL! He can still put on one hell of a match, any day of the week. I just love the guy.

Just a few months ago I heard that Rey Mysterio said that he will only continue to wrestle for another 2-3 years. So, considering how good he is still doing after 20 years and how banged up he is... he can still go while in his 40's. However, if he feels that he only wants to wrestle for another 2 or 3 years... I respect his decision. He is the biggest little man in the business and he's one hell of a wrestler. I can never have enough of him. One thing's for sure: When he retires... I will definitely miss the life out of him.

First of all I'm a huge Rey Mysterio, but what has he done the last few years.

Well in 2009, he was wrestler of the year, second only to maybe CM Punk. I think that's a pretty major thing. He put on a good performance at the Rumble, great performance in the Elimination Chamber against Edge, won the Intercontinental title and made it interesting again, multiple match of the year candidates with Jericho, great matches with Ziggler, another match of the year candidate with John Morrison, and ended on a decent feud with Batista, which helped get Batista possibly more over than he's ever been. I'd say that's a pretty damn good year.

He's been in a few World title matches(but only won once), thats about it.

Well yeah, that's because he simply shouldn't be a World Champion. He's a fantastic upper midcarder, but it's just too difficult to buy him as a world champ.

In 2004-2006 Rey was one of the best stars in WWE.

That's certainly arguable. Even those years were quite a bit past his prime.

He's not anymore, all the moves he does now are the senton, 619, cross body, and kicks. I know he's older now, these days I don't see him as a huge WWE wrestler anymore.

Read what I said about him being wrestler of the year in 2009. His moveset is more limited, but he still has fantastic matches.

He's still got it in him. I think if WWE gives Rey the World title again and hold on to it for a year, also beating people like Undertaker, HHH, or Batista it would help out Rey.

You're kidding me, right?

I don't see it happening any time soon. He's now going against people like C.M. Punk and mid-carders. Have you had enough of Rey?

Facing CM Punk in a match at Wrestlemania is not bad at all. In fact it's very, very good. It's certainly a big step up from a match against a bad wrestler for a semi-worthless title, which is what he got at Wrestlemania 25.

He's a former world champion facing another former world champion, both of whom are great in the ring might I add, in a match based around a very personal feud on the biggest stage in wrestling with a decent stipulation. How is that bad in any way?

I certainly haven't had enough of Rey. I know his knees are bugging him, and he's only got a couple of years left. But last year proved that when he's used properly, he can be awesome.

Rey never won superstar of the year, Cena won it in 2009(when Orton deserved it), also in 2008 Jeriaco won it. CM punk is a good wrestler, but with the Straight Edge shit make me not watch him anymore. You know he's gonna do good all the big name do at least decant in the rumble or chamber. Moveset limeted my ass. I dont belive that shit, On ESPN Vince McMahon was on E-60 and he said "We decide who wins the matchs, but they can do what they want in the match, except the ending."

He's not 18 years old anymore, but he can put on a good match still. It's not Rey they is holding back, it's who he's facing.

I mean, If Rey is going up against Undertaker, 'Taker isn't going to match Rey and go to the top rope. WWE Fans are tired of seeing Rey V. 250 pound wrestler. We want to see him face someone who could meet his speed and agility. Rey could put on a good match with Evan Bourne, CM punk R-truth, and some others. I would really like to see Rey in TNA in the X division.

I'm nowhere near a fan of Rey nor do I hate him. But I must say I do enjoy his work. His in ring work has diminished, but he can still put on quality matches with most superstars. I'm really enjoying his work with Punk right now and I'd love to see that continue for a bit. His program with Ziggler had me buying Ziggler as a future star. The only time I seem to get bored with Rey is when he is in the main event. I enjoy him much more in the midcard and feuding with some of the future stars of the business. I'm thinking after Punk we will see him move on to someone like McIntyre or maybe a heel Morrison.

I haven't had enough of him. The hate he gets is from the fact that he is always put up against giants and beats them consistently so it doesn't look realistic. Over the past couple of years, he has had great matches with Morrison, Jericho, Edge, Ziggler, and Punk. In my opinion, he has been the best performer these last couple of years. I wouldn't mind him winning another world title as long as he feuds with any of the above names I've mentioned. His knee surgeries have slowed him down but I always love watching him wrestle and will continue to do so as long as he is still wrestling.

I'm staring to lean to what you'r saying, you'r right Rey is always going against always taker, batista, all them big dudes, and people are tired of it. If he were in tna, he would donmanate the x-divsion.

Rey Mysterio just seems to be that guy who can always get into a title match with little effort, still get pops for just coming out, and still be over with much of the fanbase.

I can't figure it out myself, the guy hasn't changed up his routine in nearly 5 years, he has gotten slower and slower, and for a guy who is 5'6, he doesn't bring much size to the main event to awe the audience. He has never been great on the mic to help out with his decline in ring speed, and as injuries keep multiplying, I hope he fades from the title scene. He will still get pops putting people over in the main card, and that is how I feel he should be used.

He had a good fued with Ziggler and Jericho. I still enjoy Mysterio alot. He puts on Great Matches and he puts his body on the line ever high flying luchador style wrestling he does.
I have to agree with Mr.Superstar he had a good fued with Chris Jericho, Dolph Ziggler, and Batista. He won the intercontinental championship twice with to good title reigns. Now he's in a feud with SES which is great. So I definetly have not had enough of Rey Mysterio.

Mysterio has been doing pretty well without having the world title around his waist. He's been a 2 time Intercontinental Champion and he's had some fairly decent feuds. He'd be much more suited to putting the young future stars over than becoming a World Heavyweight Champion or WWE Champion that we all know wouldn't believe in. His feuds with Morrison and Ziggler were great and those are the programs he will thrive in.

He's still more exciting to watch than a majority of the superstars currently on the SmackDown brand and there's still a nice amount of guys he could face and elevate to the next level, so no I don't think we've had enough of him yet. The kids still love him and he's still worth watching.

I am most definitely tired of Rey Mysterio, or Peanut as I like to call him. His act is stale. Maybe putting him in the ring with guys his size will freshen him up, but I doubt it. Rey was never the same after his major knee surgery back in WCW.

hahah!! I'm totally with you. Even before I was an internet wrestling dork, I haaaaaaated Rey. His gimmick has always been the little guy who has a chance at beating the big guy and ... oh... oh...! he did it!!! I can't believe it!!

I was sick of it after six months, and six months and twelve years later, it's still going on.

Yeah, a loss and joining to the S.E.S would have been really cool. A totally different character for him.

I guess it was expected not to happen, though. He's presumably pretty popular with Mexican fans, yeah? A pretty sizable portion of the WWE fanbase. So no heel turn likely for that reason.

Also, he's probably retiring pretty soon, right? That's what I remember reading on this forum. So depending on how soon his retirement is, he might not want to end on a sour note as a big heel in the SES.

oh well.

Well it really depends. In the main event or mid card?

In the main event I am really sick of Rey Mysterio. There is no way the man could consistently beat the likes of Batista, Edge, The Undertaker, or any other credible main eventer besides Chris Jericho, but I will explain more on that in a minute. I just find his work against the big boys very boring.

In the mid card, however, I really enjoy his work. I couldn't stand his World Champion run, but I was a fan of his time as Intercontinental Champion. He put on great matches with just about all of his opponents. His feud with Chris Jericho (with Jericho being able to transition from Main Event to mid card) was probably Feud Of The Year in my eyes. He had a tremendous feud with Dolph Ziggler before he was suspended. Even his match with John Morrison was a great match.

Short answer. Main Event I am really sick of Rey, but I like him in the mid card and believe he puts on his best matches there.

I could say that I haven't got enough of Rey Mysterio. Yeah he might be old, But damn he always puts on a great match. Look at the match with CM Punk is was a short match, But at the same time it was a very exciding math. I really think that Rey has more fuel in the tank for at leat 2 more years. He is a Former Heavywieght champion and a multi time IC champion, So like I said IMO Rey has alot of fuel in the tank for atleast 2 more years.

He can still go in the ring, he was just such a talented luchador in the 90s that even his impressive abilities today don't match up to it. But he's still faster and more agile than practically anyone in WWE. But he needs to stay out of the main event, in fact nowhere near the world title. He got his one run as heavyweight champ as a tribute to his in-ring abilities, but the guy is tiny. He just shouldn't be facing guys like Taker, Big Show, Kane, except for rare freak wins. And his matches with medium or smaller guys are much better anyway. It's not entertaining to watch huge guys try to sell jobbing to the 619.

Completely Agree with Scotty

Hope I don't have to see him in the main event picture or hold world title again....Whenever he is put in the main event picture we are constantly reminded in how the odds are stacked against Rey, hes always put up against a bigger wrestler such as Khali, kane, undertaker, etc. and we start hearing how hes the underdog it got old old quick

now I like him as a mid-card guy though, his feud with Punk has been great its a shame their match wasnt longer @ WM, his match with Morrison was one of the best ive seen in recent memory, and his feud with Dolph Ziggler was also great
