Dark Match Jobber
On this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the Animal was unleashed. Batista made his long awaited return and not only called out Mark Henry, but also delivered a beating of epic proportion when he decimated The World’s Strongest Man with a steel chair. Also on SmackDown, the stage was set for the Great American Bash as King Booker won a Battle Royal to become the No. 1 contender for Rey Mysterio’s World Championship.

For the duration of the last month or so and especially the last few days, the main topic of discussion in WWE locker rooms and arenas has been the impending return of the former World Heavyweight Champion, Batista. A report on WWE.com earlier this week provided information from sources close to the Animal that suggested the former Champ would return this week to call out Mark Henry. Batista did all that and more when he came through the curtain to a standing ovation from the Wachovia Center crowd.

Several months ago, Mark Henry severely injured Batista during a match, forcing the then Champion to relinquish his gold, and take an extended break to heal the damage. On SmackDown, Batista had revenge on his mind when he called out The World’s Strongest Man. “Mark Henry, you come out here now, or I’m coming to get you.”

At first it looked like Henry was going to give the Animal what he wanted. He made his way towards the ring, but as he closed in, he changed his mind, and turned back towards the locker room. Unfortunately for Mark Henry, the World Champion Rey Mysterio was waiting in the wings, and attacked the oversized Superstar to prevent his return to the backstage area. The distraction gave Batista all the time he needed to arrive on the scene. Showing an intensity that hasn’t been matched in years or maybe ever in or around a WWE ring, Batista laid in to his Great American Bash opponent. The former Champ busted Henry open with the use of the steel ring steps and a steel chair, leaving Henry a bloody mess just three weeks away from their monumental encounter. If Batista’s actions this week are any indication to how he will perform from here on in, the entire SmackDown locker room should be on watch.

And then Vince McMahon will realize he's an old, steroided snob taking up to much tv time, and then unicorns and pigmen will rise from the underworld!

dude, the last time we reopened the door to the atitude era, we got the new ECW. And look what that gave us.....

Not nessisaly(sp), ECW never really pushed the envolpe(can't spell for poop) like the Attitude Era did.

Actually i have to agree with Gamehead.Heyman barely has power.Vince is limiting the amount of things ECW can do.Hes basically taking the best thing about ECW from ECw and thats they did anything they want when ever the fuck they want.

I still can't get ECW(I live in canada) so I can't really compare it with the other shows. As a matter of fact I only get Raw and Impact(in french, which really sucks because the commentators are horrible).

i wish they would release all the attitude era related ppv's and tv shows on a DVD collection

I'd like to see the attitude era return, no doubt it was one of the best eras of wrestling. However at the same time, I don't think it is ever going to actually happen.

Could the good ol' days of :wwf: come back to life and could The Rock and Stone Cold fully come back and win and win!And could RVD just say:robvandam: "I'm leaving ECW" We don't know what will happen!
Austins body is fu**ed he has said he has maybe one more big match in him(please god not vs Hogan) so will never be back on the active roster full time. I see it as unlikley the Rock will ever return full time ethier.RVD leaving ECW would not make alot of sense and also he was not as vital to the attitude era as Stone Cold and The Rock.:wwf:

Yea, you are a peice full of shit. And rock wont come back and neither will stone cold, even though that would be the shit.

i think it has a chance of coming back, all they need is a compitator(sp) like TNA to raise in popularity and Vince will bring it back cause thats how the era start WCW rose and WWF used the Attudite to get back ratings

hey guys iv bee into wrestling for about 6-7 years now its great so i thot id joina forum! man WWE is really starting to lose it there letting stars go just like that. well let me jus say thats stupid!! letting christy hemme go,stacy keibler, orlando, hedenrich, etc etc . only about a quarter of the stars these days are original from the attitude days. (THOSE WERE AWESOME) wel at least there bringing back DX, but then agen can DX really last long i mean wot hapend to evolution, JBLs cabinet. WWE thinks up of story lines then realises, when its too late that they are not that good. eg. carlito having his own show, edge having his own show, ETC. anyways what hapend with orlando and hedenrich and rosey moving to this new TNT wrestling?

Those were the days. The WWF Attitute era was a fantastic time for all wrestlers and fans alike. I was, and still am to this day a die hard Stone Cold Steve Austin fan. He was the absolute greatest.

The Attitude era should be back for good. DX should have back the members they had like X Pac and Billy Gunn and those guys. But of course if they were to return it would have to make sense. They should bring a lot of stars from that era and make up really good storylines and make a hell of a show with them.

Dude you can't just recreate something because you want to, bringing back a load of old stars was tried by WCW although it works for a while you need to push new talent. Simply filling the upper mid card/main event with old guys and old ideas will stop these pushes. Also look at the reaction to the "new" ECW,even to a lesser degree the "new" DX. There not the same as we remember because there not new and exciting like they were the first time around(although "new" ECW has more wrong with it than just this),therefore not as good. You can't "catch lighting in a bottle twice". The attitude era WAS probably the golden era of WWE. But it's gone and it ain't coming back. Get over it!:wwf:

To me the Attitude Era was the best thing that happend in the WWE, too bad it's over though.
