Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Omega was the free one, right? And there's another one coming out soon focusing on the Collectors? I've downloaded one of the new ones (I think Omega) and I've already played through Leviathan. I'm planning on playing my 3rd round of ME over winter break, though that's definitely in the back seat compared to Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3, and possibly even WWE13.

The Collector one is free but it's an online multiplayer DLC. It doesn't really have anything to do with single player. The Omega DLC cost 1200 MS points.

I've just began my fourth playthrough on Mass Effect. And I'll be playing on insanity this time. I thought Black Ops 2 would occupy me until Christmas at least but it hasn't. Hence the new Mass Effect playthroughs. I'll probably do another of Skyrim too if the Dragonborn DLC is out soon.

I'm having a blast with Black Ops 2. It's good way to unwind after coming home from work where I spend most of my day wanting to murder several of the people I'm stuck working with.

I think we may have a late entry to the best arrive, raise hell, and leave performance. The real question is who the heck is this dude?

So something just happened in the Dragonborn DLC that may effect our predictions for the inevitable Thalmor/Tamriel conflict we've been discussing. Permission to spoil?

So Barbosa is moving into the realm of military and political biography...

Not sure how I feel about writing about how early life experiences might have affected an emperor...

When in doubt, blame the mother. Freud did, and that dude went places, like managing Hunter Kravinoff to great success in WZCW.

Was just reading through the wikia of Dragonborn (I refuse to buy DLC or add ons any more).

The big development regarding the giving of Solstheim to the Dunmer is quite interesting - not sure it will overly affect the overall strategic/political situation. It might make the Dunmer less disposed towards attacking the Nords, depending on how well they are treated in their new home.

On the flip side, it could exacerbate the situation if living on Solstheim turns out to be less than desirable and while it doesn't seem to be a bad place at all, it is not Morrowind. Several thousand Dunmer pouring back into eastern Skyrim and western Morrowind not wanting to return to where the Nords or Argonians are trying to put them could be plenty of a distraction.

Unless there is something else?

On a side note, I was also reading about Ulfric's appearance in Sovngarde and it seems that he does have some idea that what he is doing is not exactly good for Skyrim in the long term.

With insight like that, you won't be surprised to hear that this emperor's mother had his elder half-brother killed out of a) jealousy or b) because they were having an affair. She was then killed by the emperor's father in an over-heated bath (which is thought to be an ancient abortion technique, bringing a whole new level of wrong to the step-son/step-mother liasion) as punishment.

Two things...

1) The Dunmer have made themselves quite cozy in Solstheim. While they aren't thrilled with the accommodations, most of them seem to be very grateful to the Nords for being given the land in the first place, and they consider Solstheim to be part of Morrowind. That said, the Ebony mine is dried up, and there is much poverty in Raven's Hallow, the larger of the two Dunmer settlements on Solstheim.

2) There is Thalmor presence on Solstheim in the Dragonborn DLC. They kidnapped the Nord blacksmith from the Skaal tribe in Northern Solstheim and held him hostage until he taught them the techniques with which to create special weapons. You can persuade or intimidate the Thalmor to leave the island peacefully. I decided to kill them. Bronn doesn't fuck around with no Thalmor.

I don't know what that means apart from the fact that the Thalmor are trying to bolster their arsenal of weapons and armor. Perhaps they want to take Solstheim by force and take the Dunmer out of the equation altogether? Perhaps they simply want every edge they can get when their invasion of Tamriel inevitably begins? Either way, it's now abundantly clear that the Thalmor have plans of war on the horizon.

On a side note, I was also reading about Ulfric's appearance in Sovngarde and it seems that he does have some idea that what he is doing is not exactly good for Skyrim in the long term.

Hmmm I never talked to Ulfrim in Sovengarde with my Imperial character, so that's interesting. Maybe if I ever pick things up with my Argonian swordsman I'll chat him up.

See? Mom's: Always fucking with your mind. I just got off the phone with mine and she made me talk to her for 5 minutes about the differences between a DVD and a Blu-ray! The nerve! Admittedly, that's not quite as bad as murdering my elder half-brother who she may or may not have been impregnated by, but still... five minutes!

Interesting. The high levels of poverty would play into the hands of Thalmor. Poverty breeds discontent and ignorance like nothing else. People in league with Thalmor could easily rabble rouse a force that could do some damage - or at lease cause a distraction.

I'm not sure what their gameplan for Solstheim is. I assumed that they'd use the Dunmer population to take a foothold in Morrowind after they'd taken mainland Skyrim. But at the same time, it would make a useful location to amass a force for a proper invasion.

Perhaps, but I don't think the Dunmer blame the Nords for it. Like I said, they have nothing but good things to say for the Nords, and even let one live among them. Everyone in Raven's Borrow is a Dunmer except for the balcksmith (Nord) and some random Orc that's wandering around. I have no idea why he's there as there are no dialogue options for him.

The Dunmer contingency there is pretty pitiful. They have a small army that they use to fight off Ash Monsters, Reiklings, and Reavers (Dunmer Bandits), but I'm thoroughly convinced that they'd be squashed by a Nord army. Hell, they don't even have the ships necessary to engage in a massive landing in Skyrim.

It should be noted that House Redoran is present on the island as the head of the Council, but they seem very much pacified.

I feel left out. And I'm a follower. I just got pizza from Dominos, buy one get one free. And surprisingly it is pretty good. I had the urge for pizza after downing a chili dog and a vanilla shake. And I've been up for 28 hours and I'm not tired. I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight.

Take me you sexy fucker.

I don't know how you do it, Theo. I'd start crying while watching heartwarming TV commercials after about 20.

Lets make it quick, I'm gonna try to go to bed early tonight.

I hit a wall around lunch time and I was told I'd be relieved whenever my sister finished up in court. Well she came in at 1 and decided she rather go home and make me suffer. However it doesn't really bother me much anymore. As long as I'm occupied I'm not in zombie mode.

You ****e. I thought what we had was special.

There is always room for three. My bed is pretty big.

Maybe so, but the poor Dunmer who fled from their home after it exploded to a life of poverty are still going to feel (rightfully) pissed off at their situation. They may be grateful to the Nords for giving them their island now, but given some Thalmor "guidance" and a few more years of poverty and that may change.

Or alternatively, Thalmor start using the unemployed Dunmer of Raven's Borrow for cheap labour, or even conscripts to prepare for the next stage of the war.

Emphasis on the seem. The Bosmer seemed to be happy as part of the Empire. Until they weren't.

Also, as an estimate, how many unemployed/poverty striken Dunmer would you say there are there in Solstheim? Because if the kidnapped smith was making arms and armour intended to be given to the Dunmer at some stage (to take control of the island for Thalmor's reasons) the army's not quite so small any more. Even if it's still not substantial enough to mount an invasion, it's probably sufficient to hold the island long enough for it to be of use.
