General Managers

The Anonymous General Manager
So recently Vicky Guerrero got promoted/moved permanently to Raw, when did this happen? I must have missed the announcement that gave her the RAW GM Title. I knew she was the interim GM, but never saw the announcement. Did she just come out and announce she was promoted?

This brings me to my question, isn’t there a better way to hire GM’s?

Every time we get a new GM we get a McMahon to come out and say the new GM is… then the music hits and the GM comes out? Based on what qualifications, didn’t Regal get to be GM based on winning a battle royal. LOL!

I was thinking what if they made it an election. They could make it right around election time, make the GM position a two year run. With re-election possible and no limit on the number of terms. You could give out votes to the Superstars, Announcers, Other Talent, and lastly the fans. You have two or three possible candidates run promos a month or two before. You could even have debates and trial shows where the potential GM’s get to make matches for the evening. You could tie this in with Cyber Sunday, have the winner announced on PPV to increase buys.

The main issue I have been able to think of is that fans will most likely vote for a face GM rather than a heel GM. But definitely think the idea is worth a shot. Better than being forced to watch Vicky be GM. It would give fans a reason to tune go online to vote, text their vote, go to live events to vote.

What are your thoughts?

I think that is an awesome idea that would work really well, good thinking

Fantastic Idea, especially the Cyber Sunday thing. Brilliant!

I agree fans would mostly vote for faces, but they could have a reeally heelish Heel do something to rig the election or something, cheat some how. So you could do this for a couple years. Fans vote for face, next election face, then a heel cheats, face...

i could totally see this worker very well for the WWE and for the fans interaction.

holy crap, that's one of the best creative ideas i've ever seen in my life! and if they did that, i'm sure vickie guerrero would not be the most likely candidate. can't stand her. i don't even like to hate her for the sake of entertainment. i just hate her altogether. her face, her voice, her wheel chair, her character, her second chin, did i mention her face? oh ya, got that in there, haha. here's who i'd like to see as gm's for each show right now.

raw- shane mcmahon
smackdown-keep teddy long
ecw- eh, give tiffany a shot, gives many fans a reason to even think about tuning into ecw right now. than as soon as dreamer is COMPLETELY useless in the ring, hand him the job.

This may sound insane, but I would like to see Shane McMahon take on ECW, Steph on SD! again, and Vince can be left with RAW. The election idea I think is pure gold, I'm glad you shared the idea.

While I like the idea of an election, Cyber Sunday tie-in, trial shows...I'm not that mad with Vickie as GM.

I may be in the minority here but she works well because:

a) People hate her...old wrestling lesson, "if they love or hate you at least they're felling something.

b) She's the heel GM (so hating her fits). People play right into Vince's hands when he gives you someone he wants you to boo. It would be wierd if she was trying to please the fans, but since shes out for self, it works.

c) Has anyone noticed that as soon as she get out of the wheelchair, something happens to put her back in. She's the new Spanish Announce Table.

The only thing I'd change is the sleeping around thing...

Well, Seeing how the GM role is just a T.V role, It shouldn't matter why, Or who is appointed GM. It's like worrying who is hosting the Bottom line.

It's a lot easier to write a storyline for a wrestler than it is for a general manager. That being said, I could never shake the feeling that all voting-related gimmicks in wrestling were all fixed. Kind of like how the draft is fixed.

If it weren't fixed, wouldn't we just see three extreme faces run the shows? What if the person voted in, in all likelyhood a face, couldn't pull off being the evil GM heel (i.e. Mike Adamle)? The GM is kind of an important character to play on screen for someone who couldn't handle it.

I really hope they get rid of the guest host thing on Raw this week when Batista makes his big announcement. Hopefully he will have been hired to be GM until he can return to active wrestling. Especially if Randy Orton happens to lose the title at Breaking Point, if Batista were to be GM he could waive Randy Orton's rematch clause and save us another Cena-Orton match. He could go on to make Randy Orton's life hell for a few months, putting him in matches with Chavo & Hornswaggle. While I doubt they would actually do that it would be funny.

Either way please get rid of the guest hosts!
