To Daggar Dias and the rest of the gaming community here:
Dear fellow nerds,
I humbly request that we refrain from the constant clamoring for remakes of JRPG games decades past their point of relevance and instead push JRPG makers to create new IP's and new gaming approaches to compete with Western RPGs and gain new followers. For every cat eared fan of Cloud or cosplaying Sephiroth fan there are 10 potential new fans of the genre who are turned off. Western RPG's have hit more or less the same walls JRPGs did during the PS2 era, and there isn't really a better time to recapture that audience.
I love many of these older games. Many of them are why I consider myself a gamer by any definition of the word. But no one ever set the world on fire by re-releasing a game with some slighty spruced up graphics and a new dungeon or two. So, while I may lament that I will never see a 3D Final Fantasy 6, or that Chrono Trigger will never get a proper sequel, I'd rather live with that than see a genre I once loved tear itself to pieces and render itself irrelevant.
Love,
DirtyJose.
