Danke schön!

Right, I'll get that and lay off the Smash for a few days. When it gets back up and running, I am spamming the shit out of special brawl. Subspace Emissary can take a long walk off a short pier.

9 times out of 10 it fixes the problem, especially if you've got a preowned Wii.

There are a few games that have the double layer disk but Brawl is the first one.

I'll be getting one (obviously) but I want a price and release date before I put a deposit down.

I just quoted you in case you had quote notifications and you would see this.

Lee: 3DS XL. Thoughts?

Lee: shit ton of other stuff Nintendo announced during their Nintendo Direct video this week (Namco/Bandai working on Smash Bros, Kirby collection announcement, eShop sales/new titles, etc). Thoughts?

Expect my full thoughts on nintendolee tomorrow (busy week) but:

The XL is a good idea, I'm glad it doesnt have two circle pads and it's clearly marketed for the older people who bought the DS.

Namco/Bandai is an odd but good move.
Kirby was already announced I think.
eShop sale is a great move as it means I can get a few games cheaper that I wanted.

With the Kirby stuff I was mainly just talking about the selection of games, which was announced last week.

I kinda wish I could upgrade to an XL, but alas, not spending an extra 200.

Thats why I'm glad it doesn't have a duel circle pad as if it did I would want to upgrade. It doesn't so I don't.

After the lens cleaning, Smash Bros. seems to last, well, longer, but it will still display the error message after a while. I can live with that - even if it makes unlocking all the characters a pain in the arse.

I had to clean mine about 3 or 4 times, it got gradually better the more I did it.

It seems that Smash Bros. works fine so long as I don't load the Smashville stage. It hates that stage with a passion. I've unlocked all the characters now, so it's not much of a concern.

I spent ten minutes this morning doing this:

Turns out Metroid Prime plays with a single stick. I was told it "had a strong lock-on mechanic" - they were just being coy.

I'd have switched the sticks more quickly, only buttons flew everywhere when I popped the casing off the Gamecube controller and I had to carefully piece it back together. Incredibly, it actually works.

Why would one want to switch analog sticks?

The c-stick is more of a premature fetus than it is a full-fledged analog stick. I have another nunchuck - I bought that one especially to steal the analog stick from.

Turns out most games were designed to compensate for the deformed nub that is the c-stick, so not really, no. Still, it's a nice novelty. You're talking to a guy whose PS3 controller looks like this:

My PS3 controller is comfortably the best in the world, what with its concave thumbsticks and, well, concave shoulder buttons. I like my things concave. My 360 controllers remain untouched.
