So what games did everyone get?
Mario Kart 7! I already beat all 8 cups on easy, and it's hella fun.

I'll be getting Saints Row the Third soon.

Still considering getting a 3DS. My decision hinges on how cheap it - and its games - become in the post-Christmas sales. My PS3 backlog is large enough to last me until September though.
Get it. Remember that with the 3DS you can play games wherever you go. If you are on the train, a plane, or the shitter; you can play your 3DS. Can't play PS3 while shitting, can you?

Glitches I can live with. I mean, it's a Bethesda game. But releasing a broken game - quite literally - is not on.

It's funny. The other day I mentioned it to my lady friend who got me the game, how it's supposed to be FULL of glitches that make it a near unplayable game. Little did I know, she had already purchased it to give me for Christmas.

I seem to be the only person that never experienced skyrim lag.

She told me that after I mentioned to her about the issues the game was having on the PS3 that she started asking around regarding the quality of the game. Nobody that she asked experienced any issues with the game on the PS3. A friend who never had any issues with the game and works at Gamestop, said that it was a problem with some of the discs, but not others and it was hit and miss if you had a shitty one. I'd never heard of this and find it pretty hard to believe.

Have you looking into a PS Vita?

Skyrim only really starts to suffer after about forty hours of play - because it saves what position all items are in as you pass through places, supposedly - and then it hits a wall when the framerate hits about 5 fps.

The Vita's going to have more going for it than a new WipEout and a ludicrously expensive memory card before I jump onboard.

I checked online blockbusters this morning and it was £25 unless it was a one off preowned. They usually have some cdecent deals too.

you're a funny guy MTM.

Uhh.... What did I do now?

I was listening to a podcast today and they suggested changing some of the settings in order to make playing Skyrim a smoother experience. I believe they said change the auto-save to 15 minutes, opposed to it auto-saving every 5. As well as turning off the auto-safe for travel. They also said if you press the "wait" button for 30 in-game days, it resets everything in the sense of eliminating all of the dead bodies, and all of the plants have grown.

The Vita has tons going for it, with 20-25 launch titles ranging from Uncharted to Gravity Rush to WipEout to Super Stardust. Also, the memory cards have already been reduced in price. They're still ridiculously overpriced, but it's a start I suppose.

I worry about the Vita. Sony might do better to try to make high end mobile games. Top end phones these days have dual core processors, they can probably handle a version of Uncharted or Wipeout with reasonable results.

I personally won't get one because I have a PSP and a DS and my combined playtime on the both of them for the last several years probably totals to less than a hundred hours.

I think they'll make out pretty good with the Vita. They seem to be preparing for the launch very well. They've announced 20 launch title games, have a decent price point (with the exception of the memory cards), as well have released alot of information regarding both the system and games.

I'd be very surprised if I ended up getting one this year, but I am very excited for its release.

I only bought a 3DS so I can play Good People Die when it's released, and because I figured it was time to upgrade. Probably should have asked for Super Mario 3D Land for Christmas or something but I had other things I wanted. There are just so many games to play what with Skyward Sword, WWE12, and the ton of games I got during Steam and GOG's Christmas sale.

Speaking of, Lee, had time to play 999 yet?

I found Tingle in Skyward Sword. Little scamp.

Are you talking about the actual Tingle or the

Tingle doll in Zelda's room in the Academy?

Have you squared off with Demise yet, Lee? I'd be interested in your take on the final battle

Just found out that the Skyward Sword theme is actually Zelda's Lullaby backwards - how unoriginal

Does anyone else worry about the Playstation brand as a whole for 2012? I'm finding more and more reasons not to play it anymore. It's just collecting dust since Uncharted 3. Apart from The Last of Us nothing really interests me. Halo 4, Crackdown 3, Kinect Mass Effect 3, Ryse and honestly, Kinect Star Wars are probably definite purchases. Not to mention, Ninja Gaiden 3 is exclusive too, one of my favourite franchises ever. I mean, by no means a blockbuster year but still, better looking than the PS3's year. The Vita looks okay, but I'd take the 3DS over it any day. I think it's clear that they are focusing too much on the Vita. Oh well.

EDIT: Suda 51, the makers of No More Heroes are making a Xbox 360 exclusive too. Mark out, Doc.

I won't, I only have PS3.

Speaking of Suda51, Lollipop Chainsaw is at the very top of my most-anticipated list for this year. TOO awesome.

I'm onto him now.

Yes I mean the doll.

Yeah I knew that from before E3 now all I hear in the theme is Zelda's lulliby backwards.

Though the song of the hero was a pleasant surprise.

Final battle:

That was a bit easy

Yeah it was somehow easier than the final battle in Twilight Princess. Perhaps worse than its simplicity was the fact that after building up Demise as essentially the God of Hatred, it was over in next to no time.

Graphics and story of the final confrontation and its aftermath are great, although I was a little disappointed in the final battle itself as it once again proved rather simple and short.

For someone that is supposedly the essence of evil, Demise was nowhere near as proficient a fighter as Ghirahim and the Demon Lord was straightforward. Loved having to fight his entire army by the way. A nice touch that seemed, you know, sensible.

The appearance of the Triforce seemed a like pointless too, especially when using it to permanently imprison the Imprisoned was quickly circumvented by the Gate of Time and then Link did not use it against either Demise or Ghirahim, (although I suppose it was needed to keep Demise cooped up in the present).

The curse of Demise was a nice touch but I must admit though I was convinced that Groose was going to end up as the first Ganondorf, perhaps even by touching or even trying to claim the Triforce. Perhaps he still does by being the ancestor of the Gerudo?

One other question: if the remaining essence of Demise is contained within the Master Sword, is it the Master Sword itself that is perpetuating the struggle between the descendants of the personification of the Goddess, the Hero of Time and the personification of Demise's hatred?
