Gamers unite -HQ

IGN is participating in a 24 hour gaming fundraiser called Extra Life (raising money for Children's Hospital). They will be streaming content of them playing games for 24 hours, many games have yet to be released. If you are interested in checking out some new in-game footage of games like Goldeneye, Little Big Planet 2, DC Universe Online, Smackdown vs Raw 2011, Gran Turismo etc. check it out.

Currently they are playing Goldeneye multiplayer.

Remember that event I was invited to last year, it being cancelled and me ending up getting a free copy of the game? Yeah, probably not. Anyway, I actually had to fucking go to the thing this year. Basically, the game plays like SmackDown vs. Raw.

I dunno if there's, like, some new menus or something for people to fawn over but the core game is as crap as ever.

Well, it was the finished product (though, as ever, it didn't feel like it) but I'm going to guess the disc lacked the official artwork, like the one I got for free last year. I'm assuming they gave it to me for free because otherwise it was just going in the bin.

In conclusion, I could make a really great wrestling game if someone gave me a good production team and, say, three years of production time. So, you know, if anybody at THQ is reading this...

From previews I've read it said that there has been alot of added features/improvements. What job do you have to get this stuff because you can sign me up.

And if you ever get the chance to make a wrestling game, sweet lord you better give me a call to participate.

Oh. Then I'm unsure why anyone would buy it. Gaming's moved on since the day of the one analogue FPS. Timesplitters was an updated version of Goldeneye and that was ten years ago - and it had two great sequels. I don't know why anyone would pay over the odds for the same thing - though supposedly with hopefully undodgy motion controls - a decade on. This obsession with ancient Rare titles has got to stop.

Edit: And not forgetting Perfect Dark, though I always preferred Free Radical's effort.

exactly that, it's a rare game made by activision the graphics look not like they've improved and they've replaced Brosnan with Craig.

The controls use the classic controller or wii mote. The classic controller has two analogues so I imagine it would work.

I'll buy it after christmas when it's cheap if I want to, epic Mickey's out in a month anyways.

Timesplitters was awesome. I'd love to see a new one.

Free Radical shut down - killed by the fucking flop that was Haze - but was bought by Crytek and is now Crytek UK:

Before being shut down, they were working on Timesplitters 4 and Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Now they're working on the multiplayer for Crysis 2 and, apparently, will be making their own properties once they've got to grips with Crytek's (fucking impressive) tech. And, according to that Wikipedia article, they got new offices. Every cloud...
