First Heel that you cheered for?

Luna Vachon. I was like 5 maybe 6 when she was feuding with Madusa and Sable the first time about 8 when she and Sable feuded the second time and every they did I found my self crossing my fingers and hoping she'd come out victorious. There was something about her being the "rough-around-the-edges", less conventionally attractive, bad girl that (and the fact that she never pinned either of them) that made me want her to win so badly. I liked that she was so different from everything else going on in wrestling.

Some of the first heels I rooted for were Shawn Michaels, Jake The Snake, and The Berzerker. I never really watched wrestling for the whole good guys versus bad guys thing. I always thought that was stupid. Instead I based it on wrestlers I like versus wrestlers I don't. Back then a lot of times in cartoons the villains often seemed cooler to me than the heroes and in wrestling the heels often are cooler than the faces, or at the very least smarter.

Even though the thread asks for the first heel I’ll mention one more name since it’s around the same timeframe as my first post. Owen Hart. I always liked Owen going back to his days as the Blue Blazer (I didn’t know who Owen was when he was the Blazer). I thought he was very talented but he was always stuck in the lower mid card. I don’t mind mid card, but low mid card is another story. Owen was just never relevant as a face. His stock skyrocketed at Survivor Series 93. The heel tease, which was completed at Royal Rumble 94, was an obvious turning point for Owen. Even though he was now heel I couldn’t help cheer Owen because he was finally getting the recognition he deserved. My brother felt Owen didn’t deserve such a high spot on the card and had no business being in the ring with Bret at WrestleMania. He said Owen never accomplished anything to deserve that spot. I defended Owen and my brother’s criticism of him made me cheer him even more.
Great call on Owen Hart. It took me a while to think of mine as I was trying to go really far back. Then I came across your post on Owen, and that was the one. I was the only one out of my friends who wanted Owen to beat Bret in the Summerslam 94 cage match. I wanted it so bad my 13 year old self was screaming at my tv pounding on the floor. Even after he lost I had it in my head he would eventually take the title from Bret. He never did, but it was fun rooting for him none the less.

In my excitement reliving the Owen Hart moment I left off my all time favorite. HBK. From the moment he tossed Marty through the Barbershop glass I was hooked. I was an HBK fan from heel turn to retirement.

Shawn Michaels.

I always loved The Rockers, but when they split up I felt like "good riddance" and became a huge Shawn fan, even though I was just a kid. I don't really know why, I just liked him from the get go. Liked him as a heel in DX against Austin also, and liked him in his heel roles against Hart.

After him it was definitely The Rock and Triple H before I started becoming a fan of a multitude of heels and faces alike.

Chris Jericho in Dubbya.

I never really stopped liking him from when he was the Lionheart, but adding Ralphus and calling Prince Iaukaie Prince Maki Maki was hilarious. Plus, he removed Juvi's mask and possibly Rey's too. Jercho was great in 90's.

Mr. Perfect

This guy had it all in the ring and should've been WWF Champion. Of course Hogan wouldn't job to Hennig. Oh well. If I were to ever wrestle, I would pattern myself after him.

I also really liked Macho Man. I still think that attack on Steamboat was one of the most vicious ambush moves I've ever seen. He was the first high-flying heel who could not only wrestle, but brawl.

The first heels I cheered for were the nWo, specifically the Outsiders. Diesel and Razor were two of my favorites in the WWF, and I thought Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were the coolest guys in the world.

Soon after that was Chris Jericho in 1998. He was just comedy gold and I couldn't boo him.

So you liked Shawn after he threw Marty threw the window?? Especially as a Rockers fan. It's because I loved the Rockers that I mark out when I see that Barber shop because I'm so disappointed they couldn't work it out.
