First Heel that you cheered for?

Even as a kid, there were always a few heels I liked. Now as an adult I find myself liking more heels than faces.

Flair was the first heel I cheered for, he's my 3rd favorite wrestler of all time behind Bret Hart and Kurt Angle.

Haven't been on here in awhile but anyway. The first heel i cheered for was HHH in 1999. When HHH first came out with the sledgehammer and lock the rock in the casket and started beating on it. I was so happy cuz i could not stand the rock, which is the first face i boo for

I really started becoming a big fan of Triple H when he was the mega-heel during the McMahon-Helmsley era, I thought he was phenomenal at that time.

It was weird, I hated him but was also a fan of his work, so I was always conflicted during matches with The Rock as to who to cheer for. I knew it should have been Rock, as he was the face and I wanted to see him as champion, but I just could not boo Triple H, even though I wanted too. He just looked so bad-ass, had the awesome "My Time" entrance music, the best finisher in the business at that time and just was so jacked up and awesome looking. He was just a mean SOB and I loved it. I was never one of the people that complained about him always starting Raw with a long promo in the ring, he was easily good enough to keep me entertained for that time. I loved the way he screwed the faces week after week while running the company. What a heel he was back then

For me it was Mr Perfect in 1990, he was just such a cool character, great to watch in the ring and actually backed his gimmick up.

I have some obscure choices. In 1993 I liked Ludvig Borga and The Quebecers. I know they’re strange choices but for some reason I took a liking to them. I thought Borga’s vignettes were great. He debuted during the Lex Express campaign. While Luger was touring the country and stopping at places like the Liberty Bell and Mount Rushmore Borga was visiting the most poverty stricken and polluted places in America. He questioned why the Lex Express didn’t go to these places and stated that this was the real America. It was a pretty bold statement for a brand new wrestle. Plus Borga looked bad ass in the ring. I don’t know what he was like out of character but he just gave the presence that he could handle anyone who crossed his path. To bad his time with the WWF was so short.

He looked like he was going to be the next great monster heel, I always loved his squash of Marty Janetty at Summerslam 93.

and that man is the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. I was always a fan of his money, money, money persona. How he'd invite people into the ring to do foolish things for cash and how he'd put people to sleep and then stuff a Benjamin down their throat. Truly a class act. I was irate when he got screwed out of winning the title against Savage due to Hogan and then became outraged further years later when I became a Smart and learned it was due to Honkey Tonk's refusal to drop the IC belt to Savage that the booking cost DiBiase the belt.

I haven't heard this story before, what happened exactly?

Randy Savage

Randy Savage, when he was IC champ. He was just awesome in the ring and would beat people while still wearing his robe and sunglasses. It was fun to watch him vs. Tito Santana among others. When he turned face I liked it too but I first enjoyed him as a heel.

The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase

Probably my favourite heel ever. The laugh, the way he sold in the ring and the way he put down the common people, was great for me to watch.

Stonecold Steve Austin at Mania 13. I was and am still a huge Bret Hart fan; I liked Steve Austin a little bit when he was in the Hollywood Blondes then we he became a singles wrestler and feuded with Steamboat. When came to WWF and became Stonecold, I started to buy in. When he took out Pillman's ankle and went to the house, I was completely bought into him and the character. I loved his promos about Bret while he was gone and when Hart came back; these two worked great together. WM13 is the only time I was ever torn between a who to root for in a match; needless to say the submission match did wonders for me.

For me it was a combination of DX and Austin. I started really getting into wrestling in 1997 when both of them were taking off in popularity as heels, and I fell in love with their take-no-shit rebellious characters. I was a die-hard Austin and DX mark back then and remember being split about who I wanted to win when he faced HBK at Wrestlemania 14. Continuing the theme of Austin, I also continued to cheer him when he was a heel in the Invasion in 2001 because, again, I was a diehard Austin fan. Of course that was also right around the time I became a teenager and grew cynical and became an old smarky-smark. That same summer I also distinctly remember cheering on Christian in his match against Edge at Unforgiven 2001, while my best friend next to me cheered on Edge. I was ecstatic when he won the IC title that night, even by dirty means. Those are the major ones that stand out, though I'm sure I cheered some heels before DX/Austin/Christian.

I would have to say Chris Jericho was the man for me when I cheered for my first heel. I should probably say that I didnt like heels at all when I started and I was all face but Y2J grew on me and he made his way into my heart as both a face and heel. Nobody plays heel better than Jericho, the classic sharp suit and endless vocabulary, nothing gets better than that role.

Laugh if you want but whilst I've always found heels to be entertaining, I've never been a fan of a heel. That was up till WrestleMania XXVI, and I instantly became a fan of The Miz. He looked awesome in that jacket and it made me stop and think about the future he has infront of him. I don't remember being more excited about the result of a match when he won Money in the Bank, and when he won the title... was a true mark-out moment. I can see Miz being my favourite for many more years to come, he could be cutting a promo to a broomstick and it'll still highly entertain me. I'm an unashamed Miz-mark. :D

The first Heel I ever cheered for was the Macho Man Randy Savage. It was right after WrestleMania V. I kept thinking, if anyone can beat Hogan, it’s the Macho Man. I just always liked his style and delivery. The wardrobe also added a nice touch. When he became Macho King, forget about it. I was an official Macho Maniac from that point forward.

If we're speaking technically, then The Undertaker was the first heel that I've ever cheered for. I've been a fan of 'Taker's since he first debuted in the WWE and I will be a fan of 'Taker's for as long as he is in the wrestling business.

That's just to easy; however. So besides 'Taker, the first heel that I was completely behind was The Rock. When he first turned on the People and became the Corporate Champion, I hated him just like most people did. However, he was just to damn funny. Every time that he would grab a microphone and start with his catch phrases it was golden. I remember laughing my ass off when he would try to say: "If you smell what the Rock is cooking" and; of course, the crowd would sing a long and The Rock would get pissed telling them that it wasn't sing a long with The Rock. How he would be in the middle of a match and go over to the announce table and start commentating; all the while still laying the smackdown on someone.

He just won me over.

The Undertaker for me also. Been a huge fan ever since seeing him for the first time as a kid beating Hulk Hogan and that will never change. I loved his evil persona with the Ministry of Darkness..probably my best WWE heel of all time.

The NWO, Chris Jericho and Triple H too.

My first favorite heel was the Honky Tonk Man.

He was great, he had the gui-tar and just blasted everyone with it. When he won the IC belt, I thought that was the greatest. He had the best entrance music, an entourage when he went to the ring, and he just pissed everybody off. Honky Tonk Man was the shit!

My choice is a young Shawn Michaels. This was pre Kliq...just when he started sporting the mullet!
The early 90's was all about the mullet, Patrick Swayze had one, Billy Ray Cyrus had a huge hit because he had one, n i wanted one..silly reason i know, but it got me watching the boy who became the Best performer of the last 20 years!

Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan were the first heels I cheered for, I can't remember which I saw first. I got into wrestling in late 1997 through my school friends and at the time everyone was obsessed with Stone Cold and Sting. I thought Austin was alright, but The Hart Foundation really struck a chord with me and I became a huge fan of theirs in a really short time, especially Bret. When I first saw Sting all I thought of was The Crow and as I hated that film I couldn't understand why everyone would be so obsessed with a guy who looked as though he stole his image straight from that film. Then I see Hogan, some ego-maniacal heel who just came out and rambled on about how amazing he was for what seemed like hours on end, I had some knowledge about his prior exploits in the WWF and so he seemed really credible because I'd always heard about all the immense challenges he'd overcome.

the 1st heel that i cheered for was Undertaker back in 2002 when he was feuding with Jeff Hardy i was 8 at the time but i thought that Taker was so cool and a badass that he was my fav. wrestler from 2002-2008. and i did not cheer another heel until 2007 with Edge, and i have been a fan of heels ever since.

Rick Rude) He always gad that arrogance about him and I loved how he would alway come out and insult the crowd with the cheesey name calling then pick the prettiest woman in the arena to kiss.

Ric Flair) Hell he is the NATURE BOY one of the most entertaining wrestlers of all time.

Chris Jericho.

The first show I started watching wrestling on a weekly basis from, was one or 2 weeks before Jericho lost his IC Title to Goofy Kingston, due to HBK interferance, leading to the epic fued between the 2 and Y2J's heel turn. I gotta admit, Y2J was the only hing that kept me watching on at start, and not abandoning it like I did when watching a random show before.
And of course, you can understand from this that I was cheering for him.
Still the only WWE (ex)performer I'm really a fan of, btw.

mine would have to be HULK HOGAN during the first nWo run. when i was a kid, we tried to watch both WCW & WWF. i liked hogan when he left WWF, and i loved all the destuction he did when he came to WCW. so mine would have 2 be the hulkster.

although i would have 2 give a close 2nd to The Rock because no matter if he was heel or face, he was still an icon to me.

Agreed, Hogan was the first heel i cheered also. Hogan as NWO leader, was pure genius because it was a total shock. Who would have thought that Hogan, the man that was loved by millions of fans would turn into the biggest heel in pro wrestling history ( at that time). Also the thing that set him appart was his promos, because everything he said was basically true. He was the first wrestler to be in movies, the first to be in sports illustrated and if it wasn't for him there would be no wrestling today period.

I liked Ludvig Borga back when i first watched it, somethin about him and i dont know what is was , also Triple H was another around mcmahon-helmsley era. Also i would say evolution were all great heels espescially flair and Undertaker around december 2001-may 2002

I think it was the Great Muta, who was the first Japanese wrestler I had seen and could wrestle like Randy Savage but was this evil mirror image of Sting. The way he moved in the ring was unlike anything I'd ever seen before. He stalked his opponent like he was in slow motion and then explode and viciously attack them with kicks and lightning fast elbow drops! And there was the moonsault which I had never seen before at the time!

Just an amazing character

Bret Hart

He was my favorite wrestler when he was still the uber face and I refused to follow suit whenever he turned heel and started bashing America. I was like 8 years old at the time so I had no idea what Canada was until Bret started talking about it, and as a kid, it sounded awesome. I had no idea why everyone was booing him or why they were cheering for the asshole Steve Austin who always did dirty shit.

After that, it probably would have been Kane. I always just thought he looked awesome no matter what he did so I usually cheered him on. Until he set Taker on fire. That was the last straw.

to me had to be razor ramon, that character was so damn cool, and scarface being one of my favorite movies made it even easier for me to cheer for him. HEY YO

I'm not sure who came first for me, but early on I was a big fan of Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect. These two are undoubtedly two of the best of all time and I think their in-ring work speaks for itself. They were also intercontinental champions during a time when the matches revolving around the IC belt were the best matches of a lot of cards. Their promo work, especially Rude's, were second to none.

Randy Orton when he joined up with Evolution. One of my favorite wrestling stables and he was one of my favorite heels to watch. I loved his Legend Killer status, I thought it was entertaining to watch him.
