First Heel that you cheered for?

"The American Badass" The Undertaker

I remember when I was little, I seen a preview for a PPV (Judgement Day I believe) and in the preview it showed 3 little girls saying "He's Here", it was followed by a shot of Kane & his pyros and it got me thinking, holy shit, Kane is about to dominate WWE. My uncle ordered almost every PPV, so I had to see this one. The entire show was awesome, but it got to the point where I was like, where the hell is Kane? The lights got dark, we saw the 3 little girls singing, then I heard the line that made this character infamous in my book, "Are You Scared?" Then The freakin Undertaker comes out on a motorcycle and a trench coat and takes EVERYBODY out. It was the birth of the American Badass Undertaker. He was the first heel I cheered for and dammit did I cheer loud. No matter what he did, I rooted the American Badass until the damn gimmick was done. I thought he would come back at WM20, but to me it was a let down cause he re-debuted the Minister of Darkness. I know we will never see the American Badass again, but the memory was worth the weekly wait.

Showing my age here but it was Nikita Kolof when he was feuding with Ric Flair and then Magnum TA. I just thought the Russian Nightmare was fucking badass! I love the Russian Sickle Lariat, and his promos were so intense. He had amazing matches with Ric Flair and his best of 7 Series for the US title with Magnum TA was insanely good! Then when Magnum got hurt and his career was ended by the car crash and Nikita starting teaming with Dusty out of respect, I thought that was pretty awesome and great way to turn him face.

In the 70's I cheered for Ric Flair and the Horsemen. In the 80's it was Piper in the WWF. Now a days it's cool to cheer the "bad guy" Stone Cold or Orton, even Ken Anderson are / were good heels to cheer.

You wanna talk about an obscure wrestler, the first heel I ever liked was Bad News Brown. I was just a kid back then, but there was something about him that just clicked with me. Not to mention the name of his finisher (the Ghetto Blaster) was awesome!

Triple H.

I was a HUGE D-X fan back in the late nineties. And, yeah they were heels for a time, and faces for a time, but the time where I cheered hardest for Hunter was from late 2002 - 2005. Here, he was just the most evil son of a bitch you would ever want, and I loved it. He was just very smug, kind of like his old Blueblood gimmick, but more bad ass. He thought he was the best, and he was. Him and Evolution were quite simply dominating, and Hunter was the main reason. I know I'm not the only one who thought this, because whenever I went to see WWE live, there were ALOT of Evolution and HHH shirts in attendance. I like him as a face, but his true place in this business is as a heel.

In reference to another thread, I believe the ultimate Heel vs Heel battle would be 2003 Triple H vs 2010/11 Miz.

Ric Flair back in the 70's , i always liked heels more than faces I think i liked the heels because i hated Dusty Rhodes so i started cheering whoever he was facing. .My favorites back then were Flair , Baron Von Rachke , The Masked Superstar ,Blackjack Mulligan . Blackjack and Flair flip floped from face to heels alot but i always cheered for them regardless

Randy Orton

Hands down. I started watching when i was 16, it was 3 years ago when Randy Orton was Champion, right around when Jeff Hardy had a title shot and Jericho was returning. He was just such a badass. My friends who got me into it all hated him and I couldn't figure out why cuz he was so serious and cool. Ever since I've liked randy orton, he has great in ring ability, amazing moves and agility, and just this psychotic look to him that you had no idea what he was gonna do next to who. That's why I'm kinda pissed he's a face now because he is such a good heel, and now everyone likes the guy that I liked even when u weren't suppose to like him.

Had to be the million dolla man and shawn michaels when he turned on MJ I was really into the whole heel thing from then to this day!! I always seem to love the heel so much more because they are all like me in a way..... An Asshole!!!!

Back when I started watching wrestling in 2003, I had only knew 3 wrestlers in The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Triple H. I had instantly hated Triple H because Booker T became my favorite, but with The Rock, he was the one I was rooting for in his feud with Austin.

Hands down, Arn Anderson. Yes, I cheered for the Road Warriors after they debuted but Double A always wrestled a smart match and usually outperformed everyone else on the card. I remember AA and Ole dismantling the Steiner Brothers so easily.

A backup would be Barry Windham - he had so many ways to defeat someone and wrestled better than when he was a face. Too bad he was underutilized by McMahon, which goes without saying.

I have to agree with Entertainer 101, I was about 10 when the attitude era started and like everyone i cheered mostly for stone cold and the rest of the faces but i loved edge and christian. There interviews backstage were hilarious and the 5 second pose was awesome. Also though i have to say i thought the corperate champion rock was brillant.

Mine is a very recent one since I only started getting into heels this year. The first heel that I cheered was CM Punk. Before that I never liked heels and I don't know why. I just tuned to Smackdown and there he was talking about straightedge and he just made me like him. Now, I like about 3 or 4 heels thanks to him.

The Rock

He was my favorite from the first time I watched wrestling. I didnt care if he was the bad guy I loved him(No Homo) for some reason

Same. I loved the Rock when he was a heel with the Corporation.

He was Arrogant, Cocky, and Backed it up by winning and keeping the WWF Championship.

Plus how could you not love him on the Mic. 1998-1999 Rocky was my all time Fav, and was the time I made the switch to like Heel's over Faces.

Favorite first heel wrestler? It has to be triple H... I had my wrestling phrase when stone cold just got taken out for 10 months and the rock was becoming the face of the WWE. Btw any one notice how the crowd reacted to the rock during that phrase? It was a mixed crowd usually just like John cena's crowd reaction. The rock's reaction to the cried wasn't as 2 sided but I like how similar they are but I some people just don't see it. But best heel has to be triple H. I mean he was the man that we all loved to hate. People were so into him. For example, when stone cold was having a handicap match against rikishi and Kurt angle, and triple H came out as if he was going to help Austin. The crowd was going crazy thinking "finally he is going to be a face and we can actually cheer for him!!." Of course he hit stone cold with the sledgehammer,'and revealing he was the mastermind behind putting Austin on the shelf. He was getting even more heat, which made me cheer even more!!!!

In the late 90s when I was still pre-adolescent, and just getting (back) into watching wrestling, I used to LOVE Chris Jericho back in WCW when he would throw tantrums and just be the most talented brat ever. He de-masked Juventud Guerrera and would wear the mask to his matches, and sometimes he would pull a switch-a-roo by sometimes having that other blonde wrestler with the similar size fight his matches for him. Kind of like what Edge used to do a few years back. Jericho's WCW and early WWE days up to losing the Undisputed Championship to Triple H would qualify him in a running for the best heel EVER IMO. He and Kurt Angle are my wrestlers of All Time.

I'd have to say Kane. I don't know why, but i always just thought he was really cool. Even before i was into wrestling, i saw a couple of his earliest matches, and just remember thinking he was awesome.

Like the original poster, the first heel WRESTLER I cheered for was the Undertaker. I've always had a dark side and when Undertaker first appeared at Survivor Series, I was instantly drawn to him and I've been a fan ever since (except for a brief time in 1997 when Kane debuted).

The first overall heel I cheered for was the Dr-Of-Style SLICK! This guy was golden on the mic and, to this day, had one of the best songs in wrestling (Jive Soul Bro...). Jesse Ventura was a close second because, even as a kid, I knew he was speaking the truth regardless if he was bashing my favorites.

Been a Wrestling fan since 84 and never cheered the heel. But when Jericho was in WCW and he had Ralphus man I loved the story line with them two and Malenko. Jericho and Ralphus ruled it was great tv!

For me it has to be Razor in the early 90s when he debuted he was just so slick smooth and cool and as a 7 year old kid i had no idea it was a scarface rip of it just seemed like a really tough bad ass who would talk shit to u then throw a tooth pick in your face and as a kid i didnt care if he was a bad guy i liked him anyway cause he was just soo cool its a travisty that vince never gave him a run with the title.

So many but I'd say Stan Hansen and Flair as far as singles wrestlers go. Loved Stans rough and stiff style and I thought the Lariat was the coolest finisher ever ! Flair was so cocky and funny you couldn't help but love the guy !

As far as tag teams it's gotta be the Freebirds ! When I first saw them on Georgia championship wrestling in 1980 I thought Michael Hayes was the coolest man in wrestling !

seems like for the most part ppl liked triple h as a heel first and for the younger crowd it seems to be randy orton... i'd have to say though i couldn't like hhh in the late 90's cause he just played the part of the bad guy too well and i really hated him cause i was pretty young still... kane is a honorable mention for me too...

You all realize, of course, that if you were cheering for them, then technically speaking, they weren't really functioning as effective heels. Heels elicit boos, and if you aren't booing them, they really aren't heels in the true sense of the word. If you were cheering for them, they were faces with an attitude, not heels, or at most, they were tweeners.

Why you have to be so smart? Yeah we all get it "heel=boo, face=yay". Come on, don't act like you didn't understood the OP. If you want "wich was the first heel you liked?" Or is there another technical problem for you?

Anyway, well I started to watch on a regular basis wrestling like in 2003. I wasn't familiar with the kayfabe and etc. However, since Randy Orton won the WHC in 04', no matter what happend, what he do against anyone, I always cheered for him, and that hasn't stopped until this day. Ironically since that moment I started to like alot more heels than faces and that hasn't change either.

Triple H in early 1999!

He was my favourite wrestler!! How could I not cheer for him?? :)

Other than that it was back in WCW, when Hogan was part of nWo!! God he was just loved to be hated!! I used to just mark the fuck out for him, but I think back then I didn't know about faced and heels, I just used to watch wrestling for the fun of it..
