Face of TNA?

If Jeff Hardy can get clean and get his life back together, he could easily be the top guy. You can like him or hate him, but it doesn't change the fact that he was the top draw and merchandise seller. Even now, if you go to tnashop, his merchandise dominates the Top Sellers listing.

That's the word, "easily."

He's was the most over guy on Smackdown for most of 09 until he left, his gimmick could really cater to all demographic's, and his wrestling style is very good for a face. The fact that TNA made him heel, and Victory Road happened, I think killed alot of his face momentum.

If he can get clean, and stay clean, TNA could market him as their top face, because admittingly enough, he did have a lot of fan's, and those fans of him in WWE, could want to watch him in TNA.

Come on, Sting bro. Sting isnt exactly in his prime, speaking long term, who would you trust carrying the company, the ones that are now are ALL has-beens Sting, Flair,RVD,HARDY BOYS, DUDLEYS.

I kinda went off topic but just because he's champ, and main eventing now, doesnt make him THE face.

You asked who the face of the company is right now, not who should be. If the question was who should be then I would go with AJ or Pope. Angle is possibly winding down his career as his body is breaking down, but he cold be added too.

But you asked who is the face of the company right now, and its Sting, everything revolves around him at the moment, and Anderson has taken a back seat to his storyline as he still fights for Hulk Hogan's soul...

His he's past his prime but management still obviously feel he is the company's top guy...

That's how I see Sting, more like a veteran guy TNA can really use if someone's gets injured and they need a replacement. More of a "fall back," guy for TNA to use in the main event if they have to. Admittingly though, "Crazy Sting" has been cool lately. Him wearing The Joker facepaint was cool.

But you don't give your fall back guy the World title and centre the company around him.. the fall back guy right now seems to be Angle.

I know it's not much of an arguement, but as some1 who has seen a few wrestling forums lately, I've noticed the most common TNA related signature is:
IW2-1.jpg

And in my opinion, AJ really is associated with TNA as much as Cena is with the WWE.
The 2 companies have a different structure, but AJ looks like he naturally should be the face of TNA.

Bro, look at the original post. I said if you disagree, then tell me who should.

A.J. Styles hands down. The guy has been in TNA from the start of the company, and he never jumped at the chance of making big money in WWE ( i don't know how much he makes in TNA). The guy is like Sting (i.e a guy that is loyal to his company).

What the fans need to understand here is that the "face" of a company means the guy capable of drawing the most money. As much as I love AJ Styles, he's not a house-hold name (yet), hence he is not the face of the company, no matter how much internet fans would like him to be.

Technically speaking, Hogan is the face of TNA, like it or not. He is the biggest name on the ticket, wrestling or not, and it's his name that's the most recognizable and sellable.

Hogan is the most recongizable name but that's not like he's drawing anymore. He doesn't sell tickets. In fact the way the business has changed it's harder to figure out who's drawing ratings, who sells tickets. There's a case that could be made that nobody in TNA does that. And maybe not even in the WWE either. The only thing that can attributed to a form of success is the merchandise sold and in the WWE Cena is the biggest seller. But again that's tricky because they centered everything around the guy, their whole show so of course it's the face that people remember and those that like these shows would be more prone to buy Cena t-shirts. It's a form subliminal code, in a way. If TNA tomorrow would decide that yea AJ is our guy, he's gonna have all the mic time, he's gonna go on talk shows, he's gonna defeat everybody in the ring then sure the AJ merchs would move also. And he would be 100% the face of the company.

AJ styles or hogan???? what about RVD??? he is most likely the most cheered for guy on impact. sting is preh big as well, though, it does seem to be fairly evened out in TNA, no real face WHICH ROCKS!!!

Looking by reaction alone, the most cheered and most over guy in Impact Wrestling has to be Angle. Maybe that makes him the face of TNA.

I don't judge it by reaction anymore.

Now, granted I've only been to the Impact Zone in person 2 times, but each time I went, I believe it was SoCal Val but it might have been JB, who stated before the taping that if we cheered loudly for so and so when his entrance music hit, we'd get free shirts. This happened both times. First time was for Rhino. Second time was for Devon and Ray.

Yes, it's better than piping in the crowd chants, but it screws up with seeing who really is getting a reaction from the fans.

Oh and to answer the question, it's better to break it down how I used to analyze WCW:

Face of TNA: AJ Styles.
Face of WCW: Sting

Moneymaker of TNA: Angle
Moneymaker of WCW: Hogan

Aj Styles and Kurt angle come to mind...kind of like the Cena and Orton of TNA in some ways except they dont always have to have the World Title or be contending for it so often lol

Yeah, and AJ Styles and Angle don't put people to sleep with their matches. And people don't boo them out of the arena or simply don't care about them. Small difference.

lol im a fan of both companies and do favor WWE more but i somewhat agree...though some bash TNA i know during a Styles or Angle match it wont just be them taking an ass whoopin and performing 5 moves in a minute to win at the end

Just when you think it can't get any worse.........we get this. I love you dude, I really do. George Carlin died and I didn't know where I'd get my comedy from anymore, but here's my answer! Thanks for filling the void in my life!

Seriously though? Whether or not people cheer or boo Cena, he gets a bigger reaction than anyone. That kinda means people care. Actually not kinda, it does mean people care. People pay good money to be at an arena to cheer or boo Cena. As for Orton, he just gets tremendous pops regardless of whether 3 people in the internet find him boring. Dude got a bigger pop than Steve Austin on Long Island. No, I'm not just saying that, it's true. It was close, but Orton's pop was bigger. Pretty sure that means people care about him.

It's fine if you don't like the guys, but to say no one cares about him just takes your credibility and takes an Abyss on it. Try harder next time. You are a TNA mark which is fine, but you gotta pick your reasonings better.

As far as who should be the face of TNA, the company has a chance to pick someone right now. This BFG series could breed the new face of TNA. No, it shouldn't be Hogan or Bischoff or Immortal. Heel groups are nice but you need the mega-face to oppose them. The nWo was doo doo once Bishoff joined and got every piece of crap on the planet to water it down, but the one thing that still made WCW watchable was the hope that Sting, the megaface, would destroy them. The megaface sells and is always needed. So who could it be?

There's 3 ways I would go with this. Either you elevate Roode or Morgan to win this thing and to beat Immortal's champ come BFG, or have AJ win it and prove once and for all that he can be that guy. I know none of them are "household names", but neither was Steve Austin or The Rock until time was put into them. You have to create names and proper booking does that. Winning a tournament like this under the right circumstances could create a megaface and give the fans a great moment at BFG. The last thing we need though is for let's say Crimson to continue his undefeated streak, win the tournament, go to Bound For Glory, and get screwed out of the title by the next heel group monstrosity. If TNA can deliver on the big moment this year and not Abyss the bed with it, you could get your face of TNA. Then, market the fuck out of the guy for a few months until it's time to create another megaheel thing to try and take the guy down. If they do that, you might have a megastar and someone to associate the brand with. I think Morgan, Roode, or Styles would be just fine for this role. Crimson would suck for it because picturing him doing interviews on TNA's behalf just makes me laugh. You want your guy going and doing promotions, doing radio shows, Leno, Letterman, etc. Get your face out there and show how awesome you are.

Let's just hope this happens because this is one thing TNA desperately needs. This is their chance and I hope they don't mess it up.

Is AJ Styles a better wrestler than Cena and Orton? Yes.

Is Kurt Angle a better wrestler than Cena and Orton? Yes.

Is AJ Styles better on the mic than Cena or Orton? No.

Is Kurt Angle better on the mic thaan Cena or Orton? Sometimes, but overall, No.

So far they're tied. These are the only things I care about as a FAN. Mic work and promo work. As you saw, I mocked Orton and Cena's in-ring abilities when compared to AJ and Angles. Like or hate them, Orton and Cena are plain boring in the ring. The matches are repetitive, they always tell the same story with minor exceptions in Orton's case.

The only way for them to look good and have a fantastic match is if they're going up against someone that can make them look good like Christian, Triple H, Shawn Michaels or Undertaker. That's why their biggest matches are against people like that. Can you remember the last awesome Cena vs Orton match? I can't. I do remember being sick of seeing them face eachother all the time. I wasn't sick of watching The Guns vs Beer Money. Why? They're good fucking wrestlers. That's why.

And what exactly tells you that people care about Orton? I didn't mean to say "them", I had Orton in mind. My bad, sorry.

.:::SMARK TIME!:::.

People pop for Orton. Great. They also popped for Nash and Booker. I heard a pretty big pop for D-Von last week. If pops meant so much, Amazing Red would be TNA Champion right now. Pops don't mean much. It's a live show, people are excited to see those guys live. I'd pop for everybody if I was there. Fuck my preferences, it's fucking YOSHI TATSU BIATCH!

The way I see it, Orton went to SmackDown, he's the main guy there right now and the ratings aren't going up. They're even plummeting. It has a lot to do with the network switch, but it's not like Orton's helping. I think they hit an all-time low recently. That shows you how much people care about the show Randy Orton is on, and Randy Orton himself. Those are the only numbers I have. I don't know if his merch sells (I assume it does), I don't know what else with Orton's angry mug on it sells. Those are the only bonafide numbers I know, and by them I can assume that no one gives a shit about Orton. Anything more than that is speculation, and I don't like that. People don't watch SmackDown to see Orton, therefore they don't care.

Please prove me wrong with some Quarter Hour breakdowns that show that things involving Orton are the highest rated segments/matches of the night and I'll gladly take my words back.

AJ is the Man of TNA but Sting is the father. Right now these 2 are the faces but with the way AJ is being booked I would have to say Sting.

At the moment its either sting or aj personally speaking One person I think will more face by the end of the year is ........... Matt Morgan He is over with the fans and has a good gimmick goin on at the moment
