Just when you think it can't get any worse.........we get this. I love you dude, I really do. George Carlin died and I didn't know where I'd get my comedy from anymore, but here's my answer! Thanks for filling the void in my life!
Seriously though? Whether or not people cheer or boo Cena, he gets a bigger reaction than anyone. That kinda means people care. Actually not kinda, it does mean people care. People pay good money to be at an arena to cheer or boo Cena. As for Orton, he just gets tremendous pops regardless of whether 3 people in the internet find him boring. Dude got a bigger pop than Steve Austin on Long Island. No, I'm not just saying that, it's true. It was close, but Orton's pop was bigger. Pretty sure that means people care about him.
It's fine if you don't like the guys, but to say no one cares about him just takes your credibility and takes an Abyss on it. Try harder next time. You are a TNA mark which is fine, but you gotta pick your reasonings better.
As far as who should be the face of TNA, the company has a chance to pick someone right now. This BFG series could breed the new face of TNA. No, it shouldn't be Hogan or Bischoff or Immortal. Heel groups are nice but you need the mega-face to oppose them. The nWo was doo doo once Bishoff joined and got every piece of crap on the planet to water it down, but the one thing that still made WCW watchable was the hope that Sting, the megaface, would destroy them. The megaface sells and is always needed. So who could it be?
There's 3 ways I would go with this. Either you elevate Roode or Morgan to win this thing and to beat Immortal's champ come BFG, or have AJ win it and prove once and for all that he can be that guy. I know none of them are "household names", but neither was Steve Austin or The Rock until time was put into them. You have to create names and proper booking does that. Winning a tournament like this under the right circumstances could create a megaface and give the fans a great moment at BFG. The last thing we need though is for let's say Crimson to continue his undefeated streak, win the tournament, go to Bound For Glory, and get screwed out of the title by the next heel group monstrosity. If TNA can deliver on the big moment this year and not Abyss the bed with it, you could get your face of TNA. Then, market the fuck out of the guy for a few months until it's time to create another megaheel thing to try and take the guy down. If they do that, you might have a megastar and someone to associate the brand with. I think Morgan, Roode, or Styles would be just fine for this role. Crimson would suck for it because picturing him doing interviews on TNA's behalf just makes me laugh. You want your guy going and doing promotions, doing radio shows, Leno, Letterman, etc. Get your face out there and show how awesome you are.
Let's just hope this happens because this is one thing TNA desperately needs. This is their chance and I hope they don't mess it up.
Is AJ Styles a better wrestler than Cena and Orton? Yes.
Is Kurt Angle a better wrestler than Cena and Orton? Yes.
Is AJ Styles better on the mic than Cena or Orton? No.
Is Kurt Angle better on the mic thaan Cena or Orton? Sometimes, but overall, No.
So far they're tied. These are the only things I care about as a FAN. Mic work and promo work. As you saw, I mocked Orton and Cena's in-ring abilities when compared to AJ and Angles. Like or hate them, Orton and Cena are plain boring in the ring. The matches are repetitive, they always tell the same story with minor exceptions in Orton's case.
The only way for them to look good and have a fantastic match is if they're going up against someone that can make them look good like Christian, Triple H, Shawn Michaels or Undertaker. That's why their biggest matches are against people like that. Can you remember the last awesome Cena vs Orton match? I can't. I
do remember being sick of seeing them face eachother all the time. I wasn't sick of watching The Guns vs Beer Money. Why? They're good fucking wrestlers. That's why.
And what exactly tells you that people care about Orton? I didn't mean to say "them", I had Orton in mind. My bad, sorry.
.:::SMARK TIME!:::.
People pop for Orton. Great. They also popped for Nash and Booker. I heard a pretty big pop for D-Von last week. If pops meant so much, Amazing Red would be TNA Champion right now. Pops don't mean much. It's a live show, people are excited to see those guys live. I'd pop for everybody if I was there. Fuck my preferences, it's fucking
YOSHI TATSU BIATCH!
The way I see it, Orton went to SmackDown, he's the main guy there right now and the ratings aren't going up. They're even plummeting. It has a lot to do with the network switch, but it's not like Orton's helping. I think they hit an all-time low recently. That shows you how much people care about the show Randy Orton is on, and Randy Orton himself. Those are the only numbers I have. I don't know if his merch sells (I assume it does), I don't know what else with Orton's angry mug on it sells. Those are the only bonafide numbers I know, and by them I can assume that no one gives a shit about Orton. Anything more than that is speculation, and I don't like that. People don't watch SmackDown to see Orton, therefore they don't care.
Please prove me wrong with some Quarter Hour breakdowns that show that things involving Orton are the highest rated segments/matches of the night and I'll gladly take my words back.
