Exile me from the IWC

Well, Jake, the opinions in and of themselves don't really matter. My point is that I am a fan of wrestling. I like to come here to interact with fans. This is why I stick to the NorCal thread, why I don't tend to post in the hate threads.

It was backlash against those hate threads. My opinions are pretty static. I liked John Cena when it was cool to like him, and when it was cool to hate him. I always thought HBK was a bit overrated, but I still like him.

Whether my opinions are in line or out of step with the rest of the IWC isn't really the point. I just wanted to remind everyone that being a fan instead a full time critic was my way of going about posting, watching, and reacting, as opposed to getting pissed about every booking decision. I think Golddust and Hornswoggle are useless, but they entertain me more than Santino.

I just think that everyone could stand taking s step back, remembering what made them a fan, and then coming back with a bit of perspective. NorCal, IC, myself, we remember pre-Attitude WWE as well. That was a time when some of today's characters would be a bit more appreciated. This new limbo stage where edgy is a bit too much for PG, but PG is not enough either reminds me quite a bit of 1995 and 96. There is a bit of reality to the product, but it's still a TV show.

FTS, I blew up a while ago in a similar thought like the one that you presented to us.

http://forums.wrestlezone.com/showthread.php?t=40102

I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading your thoughts and I respect the living fuck out of your opinion, along with eeryone else's. I don't see any way that you tried to piss people off, tell them how to think, or offend anyone, so if some of the reads here gave you that reaction, I'd have to disagree with them.

Good stuff.

I try this before, it just doesn't work. You will have to throw away your computer and if you using a phone, throw that away as well.

You in denial, the IWC is not the problem it's the shows you watching. You trying to find a way to enjoy them,so you think blaming the internet and stop posting on boards will make it better. NO, it will not work.

Well, it's hard to agree with everyone, but I'm gonna try.:icon_biggrin:

Let me say first, that while I disagree with alot of the post (except the JR bit. It's always bothered the shit out of me that a guy could be considered "one of the best ever" without even having a rudimentary ability to call the moves; it's not like he never had the time in his many decades in the business to learn more than "suplex", "arm drag", and "dropkick", but I digress), it was well-written and the opinions presented were sensible and not particularly mean-spirited.

On the other hand. There's been alot of back and forth from Scott Free and FTS and, generally speaking, I think Free has a point that if you are here posting, reading other people's posts, responding to other people's responses to your posts, that pretty much makes you in the IWC, which you've since "kind of" begrudgingly admitted. And since your initial post, you've come back blowing up at the one or two guys who've bothered to offer the most insignificant of dissents and marginalized and stereotyped people who don't agree with you, which pretty much shines up that IWC card of yours real nice.

The IWC is a vast legion of bastards who, let's face it, at least love wrestling to the extent that we waste some portion of our lives bantering back and forth with faceless others about it and I don't think "cool" can even really exist on an internet forum regardless of who anybody likes or dislikes. There are plenty of people on this forum who love Batista. There are plenty of us who hate him. If you did a poll, it'd probably end up more even than you'd think. I started watching wrestling back in the days of the "Macho Man" when I was 3 or 4 but had all but stopped watching by the time I was 10. I watched my first Ultimo Dragon match at 11 and I was sucked right back in. So, yeah, I guess I'd say I'm a cruiserweight fan, but I get my fix from AAA on Galavision, not from Evan Borne and co.

I don't think you made this post to be cool or really to "rise" above the community. It had a lot of great points and honestly, though I haven't been on forums very long, I find the display of admiration for Kane to be pretty fresh. Kane, at the very least, will go down in wrestling history as one of very few talents that hardly any fan (IWC or otherwise) could dislike.

Long story short: great post, but your lashing out against the one or two people, namely Scott Free, who had mildly opposing viewpoints kind of defeated the concept of distinguishing yourself from the rest of the IWC.

There are sixty seven threads (approximately) about what the IWC thinks about everything, and I disagree with most of them. I don't think I am fit to be a member of the Internet Wrestling Community anymore. I'd throw away my card, but I don't think I was ever really a card carrying member.

Being a member of the IWC means you'll disagree with things. Your own opinions is what makes you you and what makes these forums interesting.

First of all, I still, and will always mark out for Kane. I know that he doesn't do a shooting star press or a flying tiger space drop, but I'm OK with that. The man moves better than men that weight 60 pounds less than him. He is never injured, works well with everyone, works well in every position on the card, and is capable of carrying super heavyweights in matches. He made Mark Henry look serviceable as a wrestler in ECW, and then months later was the glue that held Money in the Bank together. He looks like a legit tough guy, emphasizes his athleticism, but knows his limits and never tries to go too far. He used power moves to make a point, but has remarkable agility for a man his size, and uses it to set up his offense, or transition to different "chapters" of the story that he tells very well in the ring.

By God finally I've met someone who understands. When I first started watching in 2003 Kane was my favorite, and still is one of my favorites today, I mark out for him all the time also. At first when I started watching I was little and the character intrigued me, but now I appreciate him for much more. The character still rules, but that isn't the only thing. He has quite a large moveset, shows power, agility, strength, and can fly off the top rope. He can even hit good-looking dropkicks. How many 7 foot 320 lbs. guys do you know who can do that? Exactly. He is a great story-teller in the ring, can cut a decent promo, and is willing to out younger guys over. You're right, he does carry most superheaveyweights, like Mark Henry and Khali, through their matches and he does very well in the MITB matches. He also carries smaller guys like Rey Mysterio. If they would give him a decent World Title run and gave him the back the dominate, forceful, unstoppable persona he works wonders with I would enjoy watching WWE alot more. It makes me so sick watching him job to guys and out over guys like Khali and Rey Mysterio, but if it's what he's happy with, whatever.

I do not care about cruiserweight wrestling. I find the matches semi entertaining. Don't get me wrong. I just don't think it should be featured. In WCW, the cruisers came out, first match, and got the crowd excited for the rest of the night. I would love this. Put Rey vs. Evan Bourne vs Jamie Noble vs. Jimmy Wang Yang vs. Brian Kendrick, or any combination thereof on first. Give them 12 minutes, and let them do some gymnastics. That's great. Those epileptic monkeys can do amazing things. The problem is the match has no continuity and looks like a gymnastics training session with five or six people doing some flips in the corners without every really putting it together. The matches require so much set up. For Evan Blande to do his Shooting Star Press, the guy usually has to roll over six or seven feet to get into position. In all honesty, if I have to see someone stumble halfway across the ring to get in position for a 619, I may very well vomit on myself. I understand that the little guys get a pop, but I have never taken them seriously. That being said, I am a Jeff Hardy fan, because his story is compelling. He can do everyone of the moves Rey does, but he doesn't make me want to change the channel because he is a compelling character, and has been for a decade.

I on the other hand love cruiserweight matches, but only when you have guys who know what they're doing. Like Evan Bourne, Jamie Noble, Gregory Helms, Funaki, and others. I also mark out for the X-Division. Or at least do when its worth more than a cheap crack****e laying drunk on a street, which is what it's worth right now. I personally do not like REy Mysterio, he has sucked for a while now, he's just too sloppy, overpushed, and overrated nowadays. I'm with you on Jeff hardy though, he is a true daredevil, with amazing high-flying abilities along with decent technical skills, good mic skills, and an exciting, unique enigma of a character who doesn't bore me half to death like most WWE characters these days.

I think HBK is overrated. Once again, don't get me wrong here. I respect him very much. I think his recent devotion to putting people over and passing the torch is commendable. I think he has had his share of great matches. But the talk of his being Mr. Wrestlemania is stupid. The Undertaker is Mr. Wrestlemania. HBK is overrated on the mic. Not stumbling over your words is one thing, but he doesn't say anything or consequence. Blah Blah, I'm the showstopper. Bla Blah, you're going to beat my ass for 30 minutes, then I'm going to kick you and win. Blah Blah. HHH carried him on the mic for DX's entire run. He is good enough on the mic, but nothing seriously great. He has a smile that lights up a room, but a voice that puts it to sleep. Seriously, he is a smarmy Edge-type heel that gets cheered for his body of work and dedication to the business. He is no long edgy, and really only was edgy for like six months in 1997. While everyone wants to talk about his great matches, look at who they were with, Stone Cold, Bret Hart, Undertaker, Stone Cold. Is it coincidence that the guys HBK had his best matches with were the guys who were regarded as the best workers of their time? HBK has illustrated an unmatched capacity to be carried and let his charisma get him by.

I do not for a fact think HBK is overrated. Sorry buddy, but in my opinion you're wrong here. he has very good mic skills (especially when doing seriosu promos), awesome charisma, and is one of the most dedicated, passionate, hard-working superstars today who has some of the best wrestling skills in the businesses history. He is a future HOF, a simply awesome wrestler, and nowhere near overrated. As for Mr. Wrestlemania, I think he should share that title with taker, because they are both overly deserving of it. Their match at WM 25 was jaw-dropping, one of the best matches ever, MOTY, 5-stars. But Michaels, if he didn't earm the title equally with Taker before that match, he sure did in that match.

I do not hate Batista, John Cena, Hulk Hogan, Warrior, Scott Steiner, or any of the other body builder types. Maybe it's because I have my own muscles unlike most of the IWC. I think that these guys have a very important role AT THE TOP of whatever show they're on. Batista throws people to the ground because that's what people with 4% body fat that weigh 300 pounds do. John Cena and Hulk Hogan pander to kids because they look like comic book characters and kids read comic books. Sorry that their body mass keep them from flying off the top rope and doing two flips and a no handed cartwheel onto their opponent. They do what makes sense for them to do, and they do it well, and they are the stars of the show because this is what regular fans, like me, want to see. Sorry guys, if you want to see Evan Blande go over these guys and become the star he deserves to be, but if he won, wouldn't those of you in the IWC bitch about how bad the writing was to have that small of a guy go over and there would be twenty posts about how Cena should have lost the belt to Edge first, and then Edge to Jeff, Jeff to Jericho, and then Jericho to Bourne. This way it would make kayfabe sense.

Cena's okay. His moves are just bland, his matches boring and the same, and I hate how he can NEVER LOSE. Being booked unstoppable every once in a while is okay, but they overdo it with him. If he was a monster heel like Kane or Kozlov it would be okay but he isn't, and I hate it when he's booked like that. but he is a big draw and caters to the kids, so he is definatly needed. But if he was to lose clean to a heel once in a while, it wouldn't hurt. It would just draw more heat to the heel and draw more to see Cena beat that heel in another match. For Hogan, I respect what he did for the business, he used to be decent in the ring, but he's washed up now and doesn't need to be around, in the media or in the ring. I enjoy both Warrior and Steiner, they were both great, Steiner is still okay. As for Batista, he sucks in the ring, I'm sick and tired of him being booked as the same way as Cena. But at least Cena has some skill. Batista has no mic skills, he doesn't have great charisma, he's injury prone, no ring skills, the only thing that keeps him around is his drawing ability.

I hate spoilers. I do not have a compulsive need to know what happened on SD! Tuesday night at 11:01. I like to watch the show. I don't need to read the spoilers to see if it looks like a good show. I watch the show because I like wrestling. Also, in this paragraph I would like to note that I usually watch DVR delayed shows because instead of sitting her jacking off to the opening theme song, I am out, with girls, and booze.

Spoilers. I don't nessicarily like them, unless i cannot catch the show for certain reasons and I want to know what happened. Other than that, I don't need them. I'll find out if it's a good show or not when I watch it, but I don't read spoilers OR watch that often anymore, though I'm starting to watch somewhat more.

I know nothing about Japanese wrestling. If you watch every Puroseau match made every week, good for you. I wish I had that much dedication. I, honestly, care more about the story than the match. Weird to see typed on an internet forum? Well, I know it is a TV show, and I like the TV show aspects over the sports aspects. That is not to say I don't love a great match, but part of what makes a match great to me is the build up. It is very rare that a match with no build up captures my attention. Jeff Hardy vs. HBK (funny here) from Raw in January of '08 is one of these matches. It was just great. Bad matches do more to separate me from a guy's fan club more than good ones do endear me. CM Punk came into the WWE with all the internet support in the world, but I saw him as sloppy. It took me quite some time to get over this impression, and part of what did it was during and after his title run, I enjoyed how much of a smart ass he was. He is funny. His dialogue made me more interested in his matches, and now I am quite impressed.

I do not no much about Japenese Wrestling either. So about the other part of this. I care about the story and the match evenly. About 30-40 percent of what makes a match great is the build-up and story. The rest is the match. Now I love to see a great story in the title picture or personal fueds that culminate in great matches. But I also love it when guys like William Regal, John Morrison, Christain Cage, and others can come into the mid-card picture and give you one heck of a match with no story, no build up, just being out there for the sake of wrestling, to improve your status in the E or in TNA, to get a title shot. I also love it when guys in promotions like ROH can go out there and wrestle each other and tell a story in the ring, give the fans their moneys worth, and put their bodies on the line just to do it, to improve their status. And when they wrestle matches against each other and build mini-fueds off that just to keep people entertained on the weekly shows. That's what wrestling is about. Good storylines and fueds, interesting things, a little comedy mixed in, and good wrestling. Trust me, all that combined can build big draws and draw better ratings than all that pathetic crap on RAW each week.

I still mark out. Sorry guys, I am not cynical enough to be an IWC member. When CM Punk cashed in, I screeched like a girl. When Hornswoggle was announced as Vince's son, I laughed. I hoop and holler everytime Ricky Steamboat is on TV. When Edge went crazy on Mick Foley as part of Mick's last WWE moment, I stared at the TV, not critiquing the beatdown, but appreciating Edge's moment of aggression. I like swerves.

Edge and Foley was great, I loved it, it left me speechless. Steamboat had me marking out like crazy. I liked Punk's first cash-in, but not his second, mainly because I didn't like him winning it in the first place. I hated the crap with Hornswoggle/Vince though. Sorry, i don't go for stuff that silly. That was like a soap opera, I tune into to see interesting stories told, in-ring action happen, and good fueds develop, not stand-up comedy, random fans in the audience kissing, owners getting crushed by the satge set, and bastard children. A little to immature and soap opera-like for me.

I think Santino is an ass clown. Sometimes, he makes me laugh. Most of the time he reminds me that I need to piss. I am tired of his act.

My sentiments exactly. Funny at certain times, when comic relief is need, but most time horrible and painful to watch.

I hate the brandsplit. I know, I know, the midcard will get buried. And this is bad why? Less suicide dives per hour? Fuck it. The guys on the top of the card sell the tickets, the merchandise, and the PPV's. End the brandsplit, make the top guys who aren't involved in the title hunt into the midcard. Then take the midcarders that are worth a shit, (Miz, Morrison, Kofi) and make them jerk the curtain. Then take Santino, Jamie Noble, Kendrick, Wang, and Mysterio, and job them out to the worthwhile guys on the roster. If we end the split, there will be less Chavo? Oh no, what ever will we do?

I enjoy the brandsplit. it allows for many diferent variations, more people to shine, and more possible future main-event talent to develop. Also it allows for some good wrestling (ECW) when the other stuff sucks (RAW & Smackdown). Well, RAW at least. I don't see a whole lot of Smackdown.

JR is not God on the mic. He doesn't know what half the moves are called. Michael Cole does. JR marks out for his favorites. That is my job. His is to call the fucking match, and tell us when the heels are being heelish. Matt Stryker is the best announcer they have. He knows the moves, the history, and respects the fans.

Michael Cole Sucks. J.R. is in my opinion the best announcer there is. He has slipped somewhat, but who doesn't slip. And the reason you don't hear him calling all the moves names is because he is too busy making other classic staements or giving analysis on other stuff happening or about the wrestlers in the ring. If WWE was smart they'd have a team of J.R., Jerry Lawler, and Matt Striker broadcast RAW and Smackdown (or J.R. and King on RAW and Tazz and Striker on SD if they still had Tazz) and Joey Style flying solo on ECW. And they would leave the backstage announcing to Matthews, Grisham, and Michael Cole, where they can get poked fun at and do what they do best. Stay out of the spotlight and not talk that much.

In conclusion, kick me out of the IWC. This fictional wonderland of cynicism smoothies, hate on a stick, and stuffed egos makes me sick. I will continue to post here, and maybe my contrarian views will spice up all the Batista hate fests. Maybe I can contribute the insight of the average fan. I am not, never was, and never want to be, a smark. I am a fan. I happen to be an informed fan, but a fan nonetheless. So next time Matt Hardy turns, and you all say you saw it coming, I will be sitting there slack jawed, wondering how he could do that to his own brother.

Like I said you have your own opinions that you express, I expressed mine, and those opinions are what makes the IWC so great.

See, Klunder, NorCal, I think this is may be a product of age. I am 27, and I remember seeing the Barber Shop incident. I remember when Virgil slapped the Million Dollar Man.

Dude, so am I. I remember actually getting heated in the face when Slaughter turned on America. I was actually concerned when Warrior couldn't get out of the coffin. Looking back on it, I remember the ridiculous, outrageous but fuckin-A was it fun. Granted I was like 10 or so but whatever. My fondest memories are of those ridiculous times. Do I have my frustrations with the current product? Yeah. I think it is because I am bored most of the time. I just watch to see what happens after PPVs now. Did I mark out when HHH came back this Monday and practically murder Orton? Yes I did. I was slightly drunk and my fiance was annoyed at me because I was stalling taking a shower but I stood there marking out like a bitch with Trips going after Orton.
I don't know if I would lump myself in the IWC category myself. I still like watching HHH even though I'm aware of his pull backstage, I don't mind Batista because my dad likes him, Cena doesn't phase me but my fiance hates him so I tease her by buying her b-day cards with him on it. I don't think I know what is better for the WWE, I just have my own opinions on what I would like to see, I don't think it is better, I'm sure others would disagree with me on a lot of things.
I do enjoy reading the well thought out essays that are fair and balanced though. That is why I am a member of this forum. I was a member of Lethalwrestling and they were just a hate-train. I watched wrestling with such a cynical and hateful eye that I didn't enjoy wrestling until well after I left there. It was ridiculous reading the forums. Sometimes it was funny, most of the time it was hateful shit.
I enjoy this forum because for every, "HHH sukz bawlz! LOL!!" there are 5 members who are worth a damn.
