Ever been to 'Mania?

Big Fella

That Dude
I just received my tickets yesterday. Me and 3 buddies are meeting in Toledo before heading North to Detroit.

I've been to many PPVs. Back to Back Survivor Series in the 80's at the Richfield Coliseum, Survivor Series 92, Summerslam 95 in Pittsburgh, Summerslam 96 in Cleveland, KOTR 98 in Pittsburgh, No Mercy 99 in Cleveland, Invasion 2001 in Cleveland, Unforgiven 2001 in Pittsburgh, but I've never been to Mania.

If you read my posts, I essentially haven't been a "wrestling fan" since 2001. I've watched the product here and there to see Shawn Michaels or Kurt Angle at times, but have not been too interested. I still read about the news and things on this site though.

But I was wondering for those that have been to Mania. Tickets say the show starts at 6:30, being Mania is there any special ceremony or dark matches prior to going live?

Any insight is appreciated.

Wrestlemania is an AWESOME experience. Especially the recent ones have had incredible atmospheres. I was at Wrestlemania 2000 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, and can say that already at that time Wrestlemania was a lot of fun to be at. Now they've got it so much more appealing for the worldwide audience, adding a lot more other than wrestling to the show.

However, sadly for you, this year's Wrestlemania isn't going to be all that great. But count on great moments like Stone Cold shaving Vince McMahon probably, and title changes. I also believe that this year's Money in the Bank will steal the show. Let's just hope they put on a great show.

Going to PPVs live are awesome its an experience you just can not forget. I been to every PPV in the LA area since 99 and i been lucky been able to go to Wrestlemania 12, 16, and 21 and lets just say an awesome experience. You will enjoy yet this years is looking like a crap shoot as its not shaping up well

The card does not really appeal much to me.

Hopefully Michaels will win the belt and it will be a special moment. Hopefully the large size of Ford Field will add to the atmosphere.

I've been to wrestlemania 21 and I'm going this year as well.

Unfortunely, both of those manias had pretty bad cards..This year's card is very bad, and WM21 was pretty good, but had 2 terrible main events. But it also had Orton vs Taker, which was quite good, HBK vs Angle, which was awesome and the 1st MITB match..So it had 3 real good matches. This Mania will have 1 for sure, maybe 2..It's a very weak card. The Trump/Vince stuff is getting 10x more hype than anything else.

as far as your question about what goes on before the show, at WM21, they had a dark match before to get the crowd going. It was a battle royal with about 10 people from Raw and SD each that werent on the acutla Mania card. They did that again last year, and I'd assume that's what they are doing again this year, and why the show's starting a bit early.

It's gonna be up to Ford Field to make this PPV, cuz the card is terrible. It'll be a great atmosphere, but I am extremely disappointed that this Mania i'm going to is such a weak one.

I got the travel package in sept. and like 2 weeks ago they added a free world premiere of the condemned.

I went to Wrestlemania 3 when it was here in Detroit, but I won't be attending this one. WM3 was a phenomenal show when I look back on it. Steamboat-Savage was awesome and even though I can't stand Hogan, the crowd was crazy for his match with Andre. I've been to a couple of other PPV's here, but nothing tops Mania.

I attended WM X7, just off the hook, incredible atmosphere. At one point, during the video package for the main event, austin vs rock, everyone was singing My Way by Limp Bizkit, just chilling to remember, the best mania in my opinion, and the best PPV i've been to.
Just to add to the event, I got to stay at the same hotel as all the superstars, just awesome to be around all of the guys, even met McMahon who surprisingly was just a great guy

cheers
ali

i went to wrestlemania 18 in toronto....ive been to live shows in detroit but going to mania in toronto was a great experience....the atmosphere was just unbelievable!!! even though the card was mediocre, rock vs. hogan was probably the best thing that i have ever witness live....fans were very into the match and i can say to people that i was there when it all happened....i will be going to wrestlemania 23 at ford field....even though that the card doesnt look good at all in paper, i still think that this will still be a special event because it will at my hometown in detroit....yes, they were here at WM3 but i wasnt old enough to be aware of the event....detroit has some great fans(not saying that other cities don't) when it comes to sports and concerts, so having the greatest spectacle in sports entertainment kind of defines that....i know that the atmosphere will be great for the event and the city as well

PPV's ive been to...

WrestleMania 13 in Chicago, IL
SummerSlam 94 in Chicago, IL
King of the Ring 96 in Milwaukee, WI
Over The Edge 98 in Milwaukee, WI
SummerSlam 99 in Minneapolis, MN
No Way Out 02 in Milwaukee, WI
Judgment Day 05 in Minneapolis, MN
WrestleMania 22 in Chicago, IL
going to WrestleMania 23 in Detroit, MI

and have been to EVERY WWE/WCW/ECW LIVE! event in Wisconsin. and a few here and there in MN & IL

I went to see WrestleMania 14, 17, and 19. In my minds, those are some of the biggest WrestleManias ever.

-WM 14 had Austin finally winning the title over Shawn

-WM 17 was arguably the best WrestleMania of all time.

-WM 19 had Rock Vs Austin, Lesnar Vs Angle. 'Nuff said.

I've also been to a few Smackdown house shows and Heat too. I went to Smackdown when it came to Houston in January.

Wrestlemania 2000
Wrestlemania 21

Both in LA. I feel honored with 21 because I saw HBK, Taker, Rey and Eddie (God rest him) for the first time and it was nothing short of Epic.

i was at wrestlemania 21.that ppv was amazing.i was so happy because i got to see shawn vs. angle which was amazing and i got to see taker

I have been to a ton of ppvs, but the only Mania I went to was 20 and I am going to 23 this year as well. I'm planning on trying to go as many times as I can now, I hope to make it something I go to year every year.

Aww man some of you are pretty lucky, I was trying my hardest to go to WrestleMania23 this year because it was gonna be in my hometown state which is Michigan but I didn't live that far away from Detroit anyways. I always wanted to know what it felt like to be at a WrestleMania, I know some of my friends told me its a awsome feeling and all I can think of is WOW. I try to go to every WWE show that comes here in Washington D.C. and Baltimore but WrestleMania23 was on my list. The tickets went out so damn fast though but what do you expect huh its the biggest stage of them all!

I have to say though I think WrestleMania17 was the best IMO I liked the matches alot but WrestleMania will always be on my top list. I thought that I was going to Survior Series 06' but turns out that I had got into trouble so I couldn't go and my cousins went I was pretty upset though at the fact that I couldn't go. Hopefully one day I will experience a WrestleMania but have fun to everyone who is going and enjoy yourselfs!

I've been to a handful of PPV's, but the 2 best were WrestleManias 6 and 18by far.
Both hard dark matches, well 6 had a dark match, The Brooklyn Brawler got squashed by Paul Roma, and 18 had a 6 man that was on Sunday Night Heat featuring Test, Lance Storm and Mr. Perfect taking on Albert, Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi. I do believe they're going to do a Battle Royal on the Pre-Show like they have the last 2 years. Plus, by telling the Live audience to be there 30 minutes early it ensures the live crowd will be full and hot for the PPV.

Been to Wrestlemania 20 and gotta say it was a very special atmosphere unlike anything I have ever experienced. Takers return as the deadman still sends chills down my spine, Benoit winning the title was also off the hook. A damn good experience, one every wrestling fan has to experience at least once.I hope to go to Orlando next year.

WM 23 was an ok experience. I had a great time, but not much of it had to do with what the WWE brought to the table.

I am a Michigan Wolverine season ticket holder, so being in a crowd of 80 thousand was nothing special to me.

I enjoy smaller venues more for wrestling shows. More people closer to the action=generally a more intimate experience.

It was a good time, and I'm glad I did it. But I'd rather go to a "regular" PPV at an arena that holds 15-20,000 than another huge crowd.

I haven't been to anything as yet, not even a Raw or Smackdown event over here in Australia as yet.

I will however be going should they come here this year, and a group of friends and myself are planning the Australia to US trip for Wrestlemania. We have made the call that WM25 should be huge, so we're not going to travel to Orlando next year, but hold off and make the trip for 25, atending everything that goes along with Wrestlemania.
