Well, we did well to get to the quarter finals. I'd say I'm surprised we didn't win but in all honesty I'm not.
Italy deserved to win, they deserved to win after 90 minutes but lifeline after lifeline was handed our way and still we failed to capitalise. We shouldn't have gone through.

Well.... We've bottled it again in a shootout. Still a proud Englishman and feel bad for the lads. We didn't deserve to go through though apart from a 10-15 minute spell we offered nothing going forward. And it may be an unpopular opinion but I don't think Rooney is anywhere near as good for England than he is for Utd.

Correct, I am indeed not on the team, however I use we because of emotional involvement using 'they' would imply I was talking about Italy, since I am, in fact, English. You've honestly never talked about a team you support saying we? Every single Englishman on TV doing commentary referred to the team as 'we.'

Not over the internet, it's something I've actively stopped doing (yet i occasionally slip up) because of how vicarious it is, especially when I started reffing and started seeing fandom from the other side of the coin

I did really like Linkin Park at one time, then I couldn't turn a corner without hearing "crawling" I went from loving them to hating them pretty goddamn quickly. It was the worst song on Hybrid Theory and then became this massive hit over songs like Papercut...
Cool, is the US set up like the UK where every ref has to be a member of the national organising body? If so and you turn outto be a good referee you could find yourself moving up to different levels.
