ESPN Sportsnation Poll Questions

Deadly Rap Cannibal
Everyday on ESPN.com there is a Sportsnation poll question near the bottom of the page. Sometimes there's multiple questions throughout the day. Basically this thread will be used to post some of the more interesting questions and give your opinion on the answer you chose. Anytime you see one of those questions you like, you can put it in here.

I'll start with one that's up right now. Who will have a better career? Andy Dalton or Cam Newton?

I voted for Cam Newton. Many see him as a guy who will either be great or a bust and I truly believe he has the abilities to be great. Andy Dalton is the much safer pick but he doesn't have the same upside. I see him at best as a Mark Brunell type. He could be a good starter and make a couple pro bowls but he'll never be elite. I can see Cam Newton as a Donovann McNabb type except with even more athleticism then McNabb had.

Newton has already showed this preseason he can get the job done with his feet and he has shown some flashes throwing the football. He has all of the ability, he just needs to keep improving his accuracy. I see both guys being successes but Newton having the better career of the two.

I'd agree with you, I definitely think Newton is legit. He's a great athlete and there just something about him that screams winner for me. Maybe not this year, especially with the team they got there, but eveuntually I think he has the chance to be a superstar.

I think Dalton has a chance to be a winner as well though. Not as much raw ability I suppose (read: white) but he seems like a leader to me and could be more of a game manager kind of guy. Maybe sort of like a better Matt Hasselbeck. Still would rather have Newton, obviously.

Newton has more upside and is in what I think is the better situation. Cincinnati is one of the worst run franchises in the entire league (just ask Carson Palmer) and Carolina isn't gonna rely on Newton to win them games and hopefully will get them weapons soon. Dalton does have AJ Green and Jordan Shipley, but his upside I don't think is as high. He can be a successful starter, but Newton has potential to be a game changer in a few years.

So yes, I'd take Cam.

What do you think of the Nationals bringing Stephen Strasburg back to the majors this season? Good idea or Bad Idea?

There's pros and cons to both but I'd say it's a bad idea. He returns September 6th so they'll only get about 5 starts out of him max. I realize that he's going to have to get back and pitch sometime but after Tommy John Surgery I'd go with the thought that more time off is better. The season is over for the Nationals and he is the future of that pitching staff. The sooner he comes back from the surgery he had the more at risk he is. The last thing the Nationals need is a Mark Prior type of situation. I'd say just give him the rest of this year off and then have him start fresh in Spring Training next year.

The Nats rushed Strasburg into the majors, and he got injured. Therefore, it's probably not a good idea to rush him back from injury. Since The Nationals aren't going anywhere, let Strasburg take the rest of the season off. That will allow him to rest up a little, and compete for a spot in the rotation come spring.

I voted for Dalton. I think Newton will do well but he has many problems with accuracy. But i also think that Dalton won't be doing it with the Bengals. As of right now the Bengals are the frontrunners for worst team in the league and the number one overall pick in the draft. Do they pass on the best quarterback prospect in years in Andrew Luck? Or shop Dalton and take Luck?

I don't see the rush in bringing Strasburg back to the majors. The Nationals aren't making a push for the playoffs and the September call ups are usually used to get a look at guys that the organization is on the fence about. The Nationals know that Strasburg and Harper are their futures. So why run the risk of further injury?
