Emma: After the arrest

CM Steel

A REAL American
WWE diva Emma who made her WWE TV debut on RAW this year from NXT has gotta her career off to a not so good start. Not only is her character silly but she didn't do her WWE career any justice when she got busted for trying to steal a freaking iPad case from a Walmart in Hartford, CT where a episode of RAW was being taped. She was released by the WWE a day later but also re-hired on the same day as her release which doesn't happen at all in the WWE, but the E seemed to overreact in this case therefore giving Emma her job back.

Since the arrest there was still talk of punishment for Emma but that has yet to be seen. Emma hasn't been seen on WWE TV since then but was seen on a tour with the WWE in her home country of Australia where her character looked alot different then from before. And now after the Australian tour Emma has been M.I.A. once again. Emma was once seen as a top NXT standout with her fellow NXT call-up Paige who is the current WWE diva's champion. So where is Emma's WWE career head now with all of the things that she's been through with her arrest?

And will she ever get a push again?

The punishment IS not being on TV and the odd time she is, being jobbed.

They're not stupid, they know here value on an Australian tour and as a talent, but because there was a double layer of embarrasment, in her actual arrest/release and then the outcry/climbdown that had to be made then in the words of Bane "Her punishment must be more severe". She will get a push after a suitable amount of time has passed where the heat has died down, it happened to Cameron after her bribery stuff, Thwagger, and the Usos after the 2nd DUI... but in time it works itself out and talent rises again.

It seems you only have an issue if you're mexican and slap someone lol...

Emma hasn't been seen on WWE TV since then....

Just a week ago, she finally made it back to TV, jobbing quickly to Paige by falling victim to that weird finisher the champion uses. Whether this means an end to Emma's punishment.....or whether she's about to become the female Damien Sandow (appearing on TV but having to play the fool) .....remains to be seen.

In a situation where an employee is punished for a transgression, don't you wonder whether she/he is "called to the principal's office" first, where Triple H or Stephanie explain to them that they're going to be punished so the world can see that this employer doesn't tolerate wrongdoing......or are they told nothing and simply forced to sit in the back until Creative can "find something for them?" In Emma's case, it seems she got both barrels: first, she sat out for awhile, then she was given a dose of humiliation in being crushed by a diva with whom she came up to the majors.

At any rate, Emma looks good, she seems to have some ability in the ring, and I hope she gets back on track. None of which is to say I think her punishment was unjust. Stealing is stealing; even if you believe it's not much of a crime, it ain't spitting on the sidewalk, either. If she's going to do something that comes back to embarrass her employer, she shouldn't be surprised to see her career stalled.....at least for a little while.

What made Emma's case even worse is that it was done in Connecticut, where WWE is located. They have done much business and charity work in the state for many years, and this was a MAJOR embarrassment for them. Couple that with Santino's retirement, and Emma had nowhere to go. I will tell you this: Had it not been for the Australian tour, Emma might have been long gone.

I think her punishment is over. Problem is that her shtick is too goofy to be taken seriously. It worked with Santino's comedy. It will not work on her own. Maybe if she is paired with Damien Hearst Helmsleydow, Or was it Damian "The King" Lawlerdow?

Oh I agree 100% with this. I think she found out the hard way that being semi-famous perhaps doesn't work in your favour all the time. If she was a nobody this wouldn't even have made the newspaper.

I really only remember her working with Santino, and can't remember a match that she has done on her own. Now part of that might be because as soon as the Diva's show up I leave this room to do something, but yea can't remember on. With her partner gone she really got stuck in no man's land and the arrest didn't help her at all.

And I agree with her having her being re-hired was in part because of their upcoming Australian tour. I'm sure she was heavily promoted as being there, just as when they come to Canada, they promote the Canadian wrestlers on the show. Wouldn't have looked good to all of a sudden have her gone, but then again, I have no doubt they would have sold out anyway, as Reigns and company where the big draws.

Time will tell what happens with her and will keep watching to see if she comes back.

Emma needs to be pushed, the future of the divas division would be a lot better if she did. WWE is in a place now where there is loads of potential amongst their female wrestlers. The division is the strongest it has been since when Trish and Lita left. This is a very big deal. There are a number of female WRESTLERS who can work much better matches than what we have grown used to from divas and have the ability to provide us with promos to care about seeing them win these matches. Emma is one of those girls. Ok, she messed up. No one is perfect. She's been deprived of momentum long enough. Now is when they need to move forward.

For anyone who was familiar with her work in NXT, Emma is one of the very best female wrestlers in the federation. She's in the same talent tier as Natalya, Paige, and AJ. Summer Rae is also underrated. These are the girls that WWE need to focus on if they ever want the divas division to redeem itself fully. Not the garbage feud with the Bellas or the majority of the Total Divas cast for that matter. Emma should receive a revived push to re-establish herself until she can enter a title feud with AJ or Paige. I would LOVE to see a sequel to her NXT Womens Championship feud with Paige now that both are on the main roster, for the Divas Championship someday. We as fans would be in for something great if that ever happened. Push her, WWE! Emma deserves at least one Divas Championship reign. She's too talented to not be given another chance and it is rare to find a diva as gifted in the ring as her.

The other thing to bear in mind in this is WHERE she got caught... not Connecticut as someone said but Wal-Mart... home of John Cena's line of clothing...

That would have been a MAJOR issue between the two companies... it could have cost WWE that chanell and thus Cena and WWE a good chunk of change... they had to be seen to treat it seriously, so they fired her, then Wal-Mart and WWE realised that the backlash was gonna be more damaging than anything...so she got her job back, when what SHOULD have happened was someone at the store had more common sense than to apply "our policy is..." and let her pay for the item and leave after signing some autographs...

As came out at the time, she got some "community service" without a conviction, in other words some Captain/Commissioner type realized that this was a political minefield and that having a WWE star on tap to do a school day somewhere in the future was far more prudent than prosecuting/causing a scandal... the WalMart manager/team didn't grasp that so if anything it's their fault... their manager failed to see the bigger picture or went for a quick "win" in terms of being the one who "busted a celeb".

Oh you couldn't have been more wrong on this one. I'm a customer service manager at Walmart and I know how their policies and procedures work. Every store has LP - loss prevention, and they don't report to the store manager they report to a district LP manager. Walmart's policy is too always prosecute, on everything, and I mean everything, there are no exceptions to that rule.

They don't give a rats ass if the person they catch stealing is famous or not, all they see is that person stole from them and they will get them for it. Wally World isn't in the habit of letting people away with anything. That's why the three remaining children of Sam Walton are billionaires. Most people know it you shop at Walmart you get good prices, but if you steal from Walmart you will get caught, and you will pay for it.

Even so... they would have lost more than they gained in that situation and the climb down very quickly from WalMart proves something happened behind the scenes... no official charges were filed...

WWE has two major storylines involving the Diva's Division right now (Paige/AJ + The Bella's) with the highest being four (the first two + the Summer & Layla friendship + Naomi/Cameron) in recent memory. They also have Total Diva's to plug on top of that so there is no room for Emma on the main roster right now, which is why she's been getting the exposure over on Superstars in matches against Alicia Fox, another Diva who has fallen by the wayside (which, by the way, are some really solid contests).

Whether she is getting punished or not, there is too much going on with the Diva's on RAW that they don't have the time to feature her outside of making the other Diva's who are involved in main roster stories look good. Let's see what happens when these stories/feuds are over (fingers crossed the Bella one finishes quickly).
