ECW and The Hall of Fame

Getting Noticed By Management
Where to begin? I've said it before, I'm still relatively new and don't know if this topic has been done before. I was just looking at the list of WWE Hall of Famers and I've noticed that some of them don't have impressive WWE credentials, they have impressive pro-wrestling credentials but some of them don't have listed reigns with a WWE/:wwf: title unless they had it when WWE was still part of the NWA. So, I was thinking if a your work in the WWE/:wwf: isn't the end all and be all of you entrance into the Hall of Fame, who from ECW, the real ECW, should get in if not the entire organization? Here's my list in not particular order:

Paul Heyman, he helped revolutionize the business. More so than Austin and The Rock and I'm not just saying that. They were damn fine pro-wrestlers but if it wasn't for the relationship between the then :wwf: and ECW, their heyday, more commonly known as the Attitude Era would've never came about.

Tommy Dreamer, his name is synonimous(I hope I spelled that right) with ECW. He was the company's heart.

Raven:raven:, if Dreamer is the compan's heart, he's it's soul. He had, for my money, the two most memorable fueds in the company with Dreamer and Sandman and has a great mind for the business.

Rob Van Dam:robvandam:, he was the spirit of ECW, never mind his WWE work. He exuded what ECW was all about, freedom, expression, going balls out.

Sabu:sabu2:, his Triangle Match with Shane Douglas and Terry Funk(left him off because he's already in although he could've gotten in on his ECW work alone) is what put them on the map if memory serves.

Shane Douglas, he actually kick started ECW and was the first Extreme Championship Wrestling Champion. Interestingly enough, Jimmy Snuka:snuka: was the first ECW champion ever when it was Easter Championship Wrestling.

The Sandman, he was the liver of ECW and, truth be told, The Stone Cold character was kind of a ripoff of his and Sandman actually drank all of his beer.

Bill Alfonso, one of the best promo cutters of all time.

There are a lot of others I could go on an name(The Dudleys, Taz, and New Jack) but I'd rather put the whole company in then.

speaking on the original ECW i would like to see both paul heyman for his contributions and also tommy dreamer for sticking it out in the WWE from the jobber status to eating hair long ago...tommy gave it his all and then some, also maybe terry funk

WWE's Hall of Fame can include inductions from Pete Rose and William Perry, they can include some original ECW alumni.

Paul Heyman: He should be an easy addition to the Hall of Fame. His work in WCW as Paul E. Dangerous, his founding of a new breed of wrestling and starting hardcore wrestling, his mic work was top notch. Even in his WWE days, Paul Heyman was great on the mic!

Rob Van Dam: Longest reigning ECW Television Champion, ECW Tag Team Champion (w/Sabu), held the WWE and ECW Championships together, multiple time Intercontinental, Hardcore, and Tag Team Champion (w/Booker T & Kane). European Champion (completing the WWE Grand Slam), and the 2nd winner of Money in the Bank. RVD should be a shoo-in!

Raven: I don't ever see it happening...but Raven can be considered one of WWE's worst used ECW alumnus. 2 time ECW Champion, 4 ECW Tag Team Championships, WCW United States title, as well as being the record holder for most WWE Hardcore title reigns.

The Sandman: 5 time ECW Champion, ECW Tag Team Champion.

Mick Foley: Mick wasn't in ECW for long, so his induction will eventually come from his WWE days more than his ECW days. But Mick Foley should be considered an easy Hall of Fame candidate. Only question is, will Mick give four different induction speeches?

Foley won't get in the HOF till he bins TNA off though. He'd surely be due soon, maybe even next year, but it's not likely as things stand I'd have thought :(

I think several of the ECW wrestlers should be inducted. But sadly, I have a feeling that it won't happen. But if I had to pick the guys to be inducted, it would have to be...

Paul Heyman: Originally the booker of ECW, until he bought the company from Tod Gordon. Was the leader of the revolution, and wrestling would not be the same if this man did not come around.

Taz: Taz to me, is one of the greats. He was a fantastic wrestler, and had some great matches. ECW would not have been the same with out him, and he has done everything there is to do in wrestling. (Whether it be wrestling, announcing, or T-shirt designs.)

Sabu: It's very hard to find a match where this man didn't make your jaw drop in awe. He revolutionized hardcore wrestling, and wrestling all alike. You would look at him, and think this man was truly insane. Great wrestler.

Tommy Dreamer: Tommy Dreamer was the heart and the soul of Extreme Championship Wrestling. Without Tommy, we wouldn't have seen some of the great moments that we saw. Dreamer doesn't care what he has to do, he loves to wrestle. He will do anything for the business. As stated, from eating hair, to jobbing, to wrestling in the new school ECW. Which must be eating away at Tommy. Tommy has done, and will continue to do whatever it takes for the business. Not just the heart and soul of ECW, maybe the heart and soul of all professional wrestling.

Again

And i have mentioned this is pervious threads... but what about Bam Bam Bigalow... the guy has HOF written all over him and he play a strong role in ECW as well..... Like i said he deserves HOF status more then most out there....

Only thing wrong with him that i can see promoters like Vince frowning on is the fact that he liked Japan more then working in the states.... asides from that he would be the man for the hall of fame.

A few of my choices:

Tommy Dreamer: basically the only remaining ECW original, has given his entire life to the business, not just ECW or WWE, but the entire business. If WWE shut down tomorrow, I'm pretty sure he'd have a job waiting for him at TNA, and he'd take it, just because he loves wrestling.

RVD: Hands down, probably the most gifted athlete the WWE has ever seen. Former ECW and WWE champion. Tag Team champion. Intercontinental champion. Hardcore champion. Money in the Bank winner. The Van Terminator alone should give him the proper credentials.

the Dudleys: 10,000 time tag team champions. Also had some individual singles titles if memory serves. Some of the most creative mic performers the WWE has seen in the past 10 years. Of course they'll have to shed their TNA skin before this happens.

Paul Heyman: Paul E. Dangerously, the genius behind it all, enough said. Also made a pretty good commentator/manager in his WWE run. Also a manager in WCW some years ago.

Lance Storm: Held every title in WCW but the big one. Tag team and TV champion in ECW. Several titles in WWE as well. One of the all-time, most underrated technical wrestlers ever.

Terry Funk: I need more chairs!! One of the greatest of all-time, hands down.

Sid: Probably more so for his WWE and WCW accomplishments, but I loved him in ECW, he was so raw and fit in so perfectly. Dethroned HBK's first title reign. WCW world and U.S. champion as well, and one of the 4 Horseman, even if he did try to kill Arn Anderson.

And don't get me wrong here guys, I love the Sandman, Sabu, Raven, Justin Credible, Mikey Whipwreck, etc. but as far as accomplishments go, none of them did much in the WWE, so I don't think VKM would deem them Hall of Fame worthy.
