I watched all three conferences from Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony and think they all did a good job. I was hoping Nintendo would put on the best showing(since they have the most richest franchises in gaming IMO), but that was not the case, if they announced a new Zelda(Spirit Tracks don't count) or F-Zero I would've said that they had the best conference, but that did not happen. Their best came last when they announced a new Metroid game, The Other M, those games are brilliant and I am interested in seeing how Team Ninja is going to evolve the franchise. Another Mario Galaxy was a "meh" moment for me, I already played through the first one twice(one time with Mario and another with Luigi), so I was disappointed that they kept the same concept of space and didn't try something new because Galaxy felt more like a chore after a while. I am more excited for the New Super Mario Bros. though, I like these classic Mario games more than the "collect 120 stars.......again" type of Mario games.
Even though I don't own a XBox 360, I still watched Microsoft's conference to see what they had to offer and it was quite impressive, they know their market is more into the Shooters so they pretty much filled their conference with that genre, but they pulled out a huge surprise when they revealed Metal Gear Solid is exclusive to the 360 this time, with Raiden as the main character, although I don't know if it will match up to MGS4 on the PS3 since it is going to be a Hack and Slash game(not confirmed, but that is the general consensus) instead of a stealth shooter, which is what made Metal Gear Solid so popular. And then there is NATAL, which a lot of people was blown away by, it was definitely interesting, but how is this going to be incorporated into the 360? At the moment the technology is there, but will it come full circle and revolutionize gaming as we know it, or will it just be another idea scrapped within a year? Only time will tell.
Then there is Sony's press conference, this is the one I enjoyed the most and was the best in my opinion. Their presentation was overall very balanced, they did an excellent job appealing to a younger audience(Hanna Montana PSP lol, and ModNation, which everybody would love since it is a beefed up version of Mario Kart basically), and they also delivered to the hardcore gamers with God Of War 3(that game doesn't hold anything back lol, I am speechless), The Last Guardian, and Uncharted 2 which also looks brilliant. Putting FFVII in the Playstation Store doesn't hurt either, I always wanted to play that game and now I finally get the chance, I will definitely be buying it in the very near future. They also showed another trailer for FFXIII which I am impatiently waiting for and revealed FFXIV which is an MMORPG, not my cup of tea, but I am sure it will become a big hit with the MMO addicts out there. Then there was the presentation on Sony's take on Motion gaming, which is very similar to the Wii's, but their prototype was surprisingly very accurate and at least we know that it is going to work unlike NATAL. I rather prefer the good ol' fashion controllers instead of the Wii-mote or anything else like it, but Sony pretty much had no choice but jump on the casual bandwagon if they want more sales.
So, I would rate their conferences like this:
1st: Sony
tied for 2nd: Microsoft and Nintendo(if they didn't announce Metroid, it would've been third)
