DX - Who Was Best

klunderbunker

Welcome to My (And Not Sly's) House
Now, before I start this, I want to make something clear: this is EXCLUDING HBK and HHH.

Anyway, I'm watching Summerslam 2000 and X-Pac is fighting Road Dogg, and in my review I said something: Road Dogg's resume is pretty comparable to X-Pac's despite mainly being a tag team wrestler. So I thought, why not just make it a full fledged question? Therefore,

Of the four non major members of DX, and by that I mean Chyna, X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn, who had the best career? Here are some highlights, but you don't have to base everything on just this.

Chyna:
3 IC Titles
Women's Title
First Woman in Royal Rumble
First Woman to be #1 Contender

Road Dogg:
7 World Tag Titles (5 in WWF, 2 in TNA)
IC Champion
Hardcore Champion

Billy Gunn:
King of the Ring - 1999
10 World Tag Titles
IC Title
2 Hardcore Titles

X-Pac:
X-Division Title
2 Cruiseweight Titles (1 in both WWF and WCW)
2 European Titles
2 Lightweight Titles
4 Tag Titles

So there you have it. Also consider who was most entertaining if you'd like or whatever else, but all I want to know is who do you consider to be the best/most successful of these four?

I'd venture to say Billy Gunn, and not just because I've always been a guilty little mark for the guy. Seriously though, who would of expected an answer of Billy Gunn? But shit, look at his resume. The guy won the damn King of the Ring, and everyone knows that's supposed to be the stepping stone to the main event scene. Obviously that never really happened with Billy, but he atleast got a shot at the main event scene with his feud with the Rock. More than you can say about the rest of the lot.

Not to mention that he was already an established guy before joining DX, unlike Road Dogg or Chyna. He had already won a few Tag titles with his "brother" Bart.

So yeah, gonna have to go with Billy. I don't give a fuck what anyone says, that guy could work his ass off and I've always felt he's been criminally underrated all because of the shitty Billy & Chuck gimmick.

Road Dogg had the best promo skills, X-Pac was the best in-ring worker, Billy Gunn was pretty well-rounded, and Chyna was just useless, pure shit.

Out of that list, I would definitely have to go with X-Pac.

Sean Waltman (123 Kid, Syxx-Pac, X-Pac), in my opinion, is one of the most underrated professional wrestlers of all time, if not THE most underrated wrestler of all time. I thought the man was fucking great. I loved his run as the 123 Kid as much as any mid-card babyface run in WWE history. It's a shame he never got an IC Title during that run, thinking about it. Nevertheless, he had great match after great match as the 123 Kid, and then as the Syxx and X-Pac characters, he got as much heel heat as ANYONE in both the nWo and DX. So much so, they created the term "X-Pac heat". Some people put that statement over as something that's not real heat, just a way for fans to dismiss a wrestler because he or she truly sucks, but that's complete bullshit, because Waltman did not suck. The man was truly a fantastic wrestler, and he's the only one out of that list you can legitimately say that about, which is why he's my choice here.

Billy gun for sure. He was great to watch in the ring he has very good in ring talent, The DX promos with him were usually good to even if he didn't dominate the mic. Shame that his career couldn't have been furthered. He'd fit in great today for a mid card US title competitor and who knows maybe find someone (road dogg) for a tag title run.

As far as entertaining goes, i would have to go with Road Dogg...his promos are awesome and he was probably the funniest member of DX including HHH and HBK....
But as far as a career goes, X-Pac would be my choice. Like stated above, he was the best worker out of these 4, had maybe the best career, and had the most popular career. He was the ultimate babyface when he was 123 kid, was still popular in the nWo, and was huge when he returned to the WWF. And he was popular as a singles competitor.
I cant stand billy gunn..guy is a total douche and nobody cared for him before he was in the NAO or after..
And Chyna was cool as Triple H's bodyguard, but thats about it

i always liked billy gunn the best. another underused talent who should have been propelled into the main event scene. he had the look and he was fine on the mic. he'd prob get lost in the shuffle with all the wrestlers they have now, but back during the height of dx and when they were starting to separate and do their own things, billy shoulda went from k.o.t.r champion to main eventing.

X-Pac 1 he had the best ring skills.

2 he is the top 3 most underrated wrestler of all time.

3 the man could draw major heat

4 was way over as face with 123 kid gimmick.

5 best match was with Bret hart raw 1993 0r 94.

Chyna, because she will always go down in history to be the first woman to win the IC title, and maybe the only. It's pretty simple. X-Pac is great great in the ring and the X-Factor finisher of his is fucking devastating, and the rest of DX wont really be remembered to much. Chyna has cemented her place in history and will always be remembered. Thats all.

I think Road Dogg was most successful. all three kinda had the same success (chyna i dont count, she only got over cuz of her look), but road dogg was the first WWA World Champion, making him the only one to have won a World Title. WWA lasted from oct. 2001 till may 2003, and the belt was defended around the world making it a legitemate world championship.

I have 2 answers based on 2 different interpretations of your question.

If you were referring to who was the best during their DX career, I'd have to go with Road Dogg. His DX promos were classic. However, beyond that he doesn't really have much left. He started as Jarrett's "roadie" in WWF then onto a Jarrett imitator then finally finding success with Billy Gunn.

If you were referring to which of the 4 were best during their entire career, I'd have to give the nod to Billy Gunn. As others have stated, he was King of the Ring which led to a major feud with the Rock not to mention his tag team accolades that extend beyond NAO.

if you were to "symbolize" DX out of these 4: X-Pac
if you were to find the most entertaining out of DX: Road Dogg
if you were to sort out who stuck out more based off of looks and appeal: Chyna
But, the most successful would have to be Billy Gunn.

WWE always found a way to take Billy Gunn and re-invent him time after time again. Hence why out of the 4 we are discussing, Billy lasted the longest. Billy has multiple "nicknames" and name changes over his years through a tag team wrestler and a singles wrestler. By far, Billy was THE guy out of DX that made the bigger statement. I will honestly say though...Billy was probably the last guy you watch out of DX when it came to their mockery of other people and their jokes and interviews. Be that as of may, Billy was the bigger and better man out of all of the DX members. Even though Road Dogg works with Billy in TNA, you see more of Billy now than Road Dogg. Plus, Billy knew how to keep himself in mint condition after all of those years. All the other members got involved with either drugs or sex tapes...hahaha.

"The One" is...Billy Gunn.

When I was young I thought X-pac was the most exciting thing on the show. The kicks, the taunts, the broncho buster. X-pac was hugely exciting to watch.

I also enjoyed the Road Dogg's mic work, mainly for his entrance. However when it came time to get in the ring I can't think of a single Road Dogg match, either singles or tag-team that enthralled me. Some of his matches I watched and they were alright, and then some nearly put me to sleep; one I remember paticularly well is a tag-team championship match with NAO vs Bossman/Shamrock. That nigh-on put me to sleep.

Chyna as I remember had a really solid push. She was involved in title matches and PPV matches. For a female wrestler she had a fantastic career. She was rarely reduced to T&A segments, though she did pose for playboy. She was a fixture at the top of the midcard in the mens division, and during her six month stay in the womens division she dominated.

Billy Gunn should have had the best career. In 1999 he was pushed against top faces like the Rock which stands as a signal of intent of where the (then) WWF wanted to position him on the card. Unfortunately he went from 'Bad Ass' and 'The One' to 'Billy and Chuck' and then to TNA. Ultimately think he was let down by his mic work, but he should have been the most successful member of DX. Instead I think Chyna had the best career.

You are missing a member, who sadly left before he could have a major impact on DX, but had he stayed would have been the best guy...

Ravishing Rick Rude... He was the "security" for the original DX and was a better promo guy than any of the members of DX at that time... Also he was in training for a limited in ring return, which considering his ahem pedigree would have made him the MVP of DX...

Honestly I would have to say Chyna for 2 reasons:
1. She was the first woman to hold the IC title

2. She was the first woman to be in the Royal Rumble

and she will probably be the only woman to accomplish both of these feats

I'm going to have to say Billy Gunn. He was already somewhat over before he even joined DX plus he's really the only one out of the them that had experienced the main event scene. He was pretty much well rounded, decent on the mic and in the ring; its a shame though that he didn't get to move up after winning the KOR.

Coming in at a close second would have to be X-Pac. He was without question the best in ring worker out of the group and he was entertaining to watch(minus the X-Factor stable); he was alright on the mic too. He will go down as one of the most underrated guys in WWE.

I think XPac may have been the more skilled of the list, but my vote goes to Road Dogg. Yeah, he was always my favorite DX member. A guilty pleasure of wrestling, I guess you could say. Although in his prime, which was during the DX craze of the late 90's, Road Dogg held his own. He was an extremely successful tag team wrestler, was entertaining as hell and could cut a promo with the best of 'em. He had a decent look and alot of charisma.
