Would be hilarious if Sunderland caught up to Newcastle. The gap is only 2 points now. But Sunderland have 3 tough away fixtures and Newcastle has 2 winnable home games. I still think one win out of 3 for Newcastle will be enough. Can't see Sunderland winning 2 games out of their 4 but stranger things have happened.
Newcastle fixture:
West Brom(H)
QPR(A)
West Ham(H)
I've enjoyed Leicester City's fine resurgence coming onto the end of the season, and I do hope they get the remaining required points as they truly deserve it given the run they have had.
Good to see Esteban Cambiasso turning back the clock with some great performances in the EPL. Form is temporary, Class is permanent!
On the whole "Chelsea are boring" thing, the guys on MOTD2 Extra were talking the biggest load of shite this morning. Basically they were taking the stance that those people labelling Chelsea as boring were saying that they weren't all that good and instead of saying boring they should be saying "pragmatic."
The truth is since almost the turn of the year and particularly since Costa got injured, Chelsea have been boring to watch. That does not mean they have been bad or lucky. You can be good and boring at the same time. Just look at Barcelona and Spain.
Why else would people say they were boring? Of course they felt they weren't 'that good' compared to past champions. That doesn't mean they were right though. Chelsea has won the league playing two different style in the same season. That's not boring at all. First third of the season they were thrilling to watch. After they started dropping points, they became more "pragmatic" and played more conservatively than before. Those calling Chelsea boring are just sour grapes.
The difference between boring Barca and boring Chelsea is one is passing the ball around because the opposition isn't willing to commit to gain possession while the other is parking the bus and watching the other team pass the ball around. Pretty sure it is easier to say boring Barca is good compared to judge the quality of a team that isn't willing to play for the ball against quality opposition.
No sour grapes from me. I completely understand why Mourinho shuts games down and the fact that his team is able to do it so well is impressive, but that does not negate how they have been boring to watch throughout much of 2015.
I have actually found the response to the boring claims to be much worse than the claims themselves. It's like you have to find a winning team enjoyable to watch and if you don't it is because you are biased or don't understand football.
I find the boring claims to be worse. Not like past champions didn't have unimpressive spells during the season. It is simply a last resort insult because they can't find anything else to shit on the team that won.
What is boring football? So good that the opposition has no chance? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to pour scorn on the poor competition than the winning team?
For me, it is not a claim. From what I have watched of Chelsea in the last few months, they have been boring. It does not matter why their games are boring. Same with Spain. Same with Barcelona.
Boring football is boring football full stop.
For me, the responses to the boring claims have been to explain why they have been boring rather than denying it.
I can't stand watching football i find boring and will have no problems turning off the TV if a game is shite. However there were one or two times last season where i wished Liverpool were able to close a game down. The Chelsea game in particular, all we needed was a draw.
Last few Liverpool results are very frustrating seeing as United have dropped points. Had we won two very winnable games against Hull and West Brom we would be ahead by 1 point.
Better hope Chelsea go on the beer for the week.
And on a random note id really like to see De Boer in charge of Newcastle next season, think he could bring them on a lot.
