So after buying a ticket to watch Leeds vs Watford on Saturday I turn down the opportunity to watch Leeds vs Ipswich for free last nigh.Fuck my life

2) Played football yesterday in goal. Wasn't sent off but should have been, literally jumping clotheslined a 17 year old off their feet when one on one. The ball trickled in, which I think saved me.

I know I'm going to get heat for this, but I always find it strange to hear EPL commentators and EPL fans continue with this "Standard of the EPL" schtick, when it is obvious that EPL teams are not what they were pre-2010... Yes, there is loads of money going around, but they kind of suck when it comes to Europe for some reason, and it continues to prove that EPL and its 'standards' aren't quite what the marketing machines continue to claim.

I think they just mean competitiveness all around. The EPL has your Tony Pulis teams to ruin your big teams lives, and the relegation battle involves practically everyone not top 8. I dont watch enough foriegn leagues to know anything though, except that pre-Pep Bayern were awesome.

I can totally see what your saying with regards to the standards of EPL teams in Europe. But having said that I would still go on record to say the EPL is the most exciting league in the world. Yeah fair enough it is a rarity now for an EPL team to make the Semi-Finals/Final apart from Chelsea over the last few years. I would say that in regards to the top top ( Harry Redknapp) teams in Europe the EPL doesn't have much of a say right now. That would probably go Real/Bayern/Barca then Juve/Atletico/Chelsea/Psg. That's just my opinion chances are I have forgot someone.
The reason I would say the EPL is the most exciting is because of the sheer unpredictability. Year on year we don't know who is going to finish in the top 4 these days let alone who's going to win the title. Compare this to the La Liga you can pretty much guarantee the 2 Madrids then Barca with a mix of either Sevilla or Valencia. In Germany its always Bayern dominating and over in Serie A we have Juve and Roma. Now if you compare this to the Epl at the start of a season you have 4 or 5 names in the hat who could win the league and up to 7 or 8 teams who can qualify for the Champions League.
Now granted it hasn't always been this competitive in the Epl it has only begun over the last 4 or 5 years. I think the decline of English teams in Europe has some correlation with how much more competitive the Epl has become recently.
So yeah whilst English clubs don't dominate Europe as much I think and argument can be made for the Epl still been the best league down to competition.

Who picked anyone outside of City or Chelsea to win this year? Who picked anyone outside of United/Chelsea/City in the past 10 years?
Spain is even worse in being predictable in which the big two are always among the winners but they have more variety in who finishes in the 3rd and 4th spots compared to the utterly predictable EPL.
The German league is dominated by Bayern but even they have multiple unpredictable winners in the past two decade compared to England.
Face it, for all its wealth, the EPL has not been that much competitive compared to its peers. At least the La Liga has the excuse of insanely uneven TV rights. Germany has the excuse of Bayern acting like a proxy national team that gobble up the competition's best players. Serie A is just horribly mismanaged and bankrupt.

If you look at the Europa League and see which country's teams have been dominant, it really begs the question of how this EPL is 'most competitive' came up.
As Alastor said above, in terms of the league winners, all the leagues are pretty predictable, but beyond the top, it is difficult to say that the EPL is 'more competitive' rather, I'd say we are more exposed to it as a whole and are more aware of all the teams in the league as opposed to the other leagues where I would have to go out of my way(majority of English-speaking media) to find out about the 'lower' teams in non-EPL leagues.
Also, looking at European Club Competition based on recent history, it is the Spanish Clubs who seem to give the best accounts of themselves in both the UCL and Europa.
This here, is why people would say that the EPL is more competitive.
For instance, here in Barbados, I turn on the radio during the weekends, and I can listen to coverage of of all the EPL matches each week, but news about other leagues are few and far between, meaning I'd have to search around the net to find out how the previous year's UCL Finalist Atletico Madrid fared in La Liga...
Thus, you'd hear the EPL Fairy-Tale story regularly and easily, but not a peep about the same types of stories elsewhere...
