There is no other club that want Bale for 100,000,000E

Maybe not for that money but if a player trade is on offer, it'd probably be better for Spurs if they want to bring in world class players. Personally I think it's crazy for them to sell a world class player when they can't attract them in. Keep Bale for another season, qualify for the champions league, then you sell.

Yeah... no.

95% of the time, player trades are a nonsense that gets thrown around by the media and never actually end up happening. The intricacies of negotiating them are so complex that they are almost never viable in top flight football. I'm pretty sure there's never been one in a deal worth even close to this quantity before, and that won't change.

As for selling Bale; of course they should. His value is never going to be this high again - and they're getting a considerable excess on what any reasonable commentator was speculating his worth to be prior to this saga beginning. Spurs will sell, it's just a case of getting as much money as they possibly can out of the deal - the only way it doesn't happen before the window closes is if Spurs push their luck too far and Real pull out.

This phantom second club interested (as leaked by Spurs and confirmed by nobody) is just a negotiating strategy to wring out a few extra million coppers from the Madrid coin-purses.

In contrast, Schurrle on the pitch, presumably up front - my week might be saved.
I picked him on the gamble that he might eek out a place as an out and out striker.

Richard Keys and Andy Gray work for Al Jazeera now? Ah nostalgia.

As for the game, Valencia is a lucky boy to stay on the pitch and his inability to use his left foot is one of the most frustrating sights in recent years.

This. Now if the right time to sell Gareth Bale. He's red hot now, but he might have an average season this year, or he might get a bad injury. Either of those make his value go down. It happened with Arsenal and Fabregas.

What a fucking bore that game was.

Well, it's two of the most defensive managers in the League. You may as well be watching Stoke vs. Sunderland.

The mere suggestion that Mata could be available should alert A LOT of teams.

Even those like Liverpool who haven't a hope in signing him. If we were willing to spend 30million on Willian, 40 for Mata should not be out of the question. never going to happen though.

How defensive Mourinho is as a manager is being greatly overstated. Madrid scored over 100 goals in La Liga each of the three seasons when he was there.

David Moyes' treatment of little Shinji continues to baffle me. Why bring on a 39 year old Giggs over a player voted the best in the Bundesliga?

Well it's easy to score over 100 goals when you've got Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuain, and so on. But now he's only got Torres, Ba and Hazard to work with as real goalscorers. So he focuses on the strengths, the defensive side of Chelsea's game.

Spurs falling into their usual trap of "buy everybody and then look for a place for them later."

For such a seemingly hard negotiator, Levy has allowed himself to be talked into squandering some cash in the last 5 years.

Thought Celtic were somewhat fortunate.

They looked in a panic in the first half. Too quick to throw the ball forward rather than building up an attack and getting men forward. Commons' goal changed everything and in the second half Celtic were a bit more patient and willing to go past defenders and it paid dividends in the end.

Having said that, the Kazakh goat herders should really have scored an away goal.

In other news, the League Cup draw got off to quite a start.

I legitimately laughed out loud at John O'Shea's challenge then. Literally one of the stupidest tackles I've ever seen. Palace deserve to win this, and Chamakh is starting to look like he's played professional football before again.

And that, boys and girls, is why I have Sunderland pegged for the drop this season. Wickham and Fletcher aren't good enough to score 15 between them, and their midfield is outplayed by any decent passers.

Also, as an Arsenal fan, I'm happy for Chamakh.
