Lawro's celebrity this week is Hogan. He predicts Chelsea 40-1 v Wigan.

This is probably going to sound terrible, but the intro VT to Sky's live games with the lions and gold dust effect always gets me pumped up for the game.

Though the Les Miserables song is undoing that pumpage a bit. Should be a good game.

Fuck yes! Ginola!

Good old Odemwingie.

Why on the Fantasy points this week does Liverpools match at the weekend class in this weeks?

On my way to my local to watch the match tonight. Colour me blissfully hopeful but I definitely think Celtic can beat Juventus tonight.

Before the draw I said to my celtic supporting colleague that Juve would be the best draw for you guys.

Yeah, I have to agree.

Neil Lennon, and most pundits for that matter, have made a lot of the officiating in the match but I don't think it would have made much of a difference if we had been given a penalty. Juventus were too good and too slick for Celtic on the night.

That said, I thought they looked distinctly average for a team with so much momentum behind them. On another night, if things had gone our way a little more, we may have found The Old Lady out and put them to the sword. There were times during the match that Celtic looked like the better side and that was encouraging throughout.

A couple of defensive errors have buried us. But if Celtic can cut out the defensive errors and take more of their chances in Turin, then I honestly see no way why we can't put a couple of goals past Juventus. Especially if they play like they did last night.

I have some sympathy with the defending team in such cases as Hooper and later Brown were only in that position to obstruct the keeper, which if it was penalised like it should be, Lichtsteiner would not be put on guard duty.

What made no sense in the refs handling of the goal mouth shenanigans though is that Lichtsteiner did the same thing time and again. Now, rightly or wrongly, the ref decided that it was not worth penalising and therefore took no action. That is UNTIL Hooper pushed back. Then he booked both Hooper and Lichtsteiner suggesting that he thought that the Juve defender had been doing something wrong all along but did not have the balls to give a penalty.

Actually, a worse incident was the virtual rugby tackle that Padoin landed on Brown.

Dave, I think you are underestimating the timing of those incidents in the scheme of the game. A goal from the spot would have roused Celtic at a time when they were starting to look a little leggy (which is what cost them in the end). Juve can be a classy outfit at times but I do not think they showed all that much last night.

Last night also reaffirmed to me the overratedness of the supposedly peerless Andrea Pirlo. I thought the praise he received at the Euros was exaggerated to the extreme as he only looked decent when he was given about 25 yards of space to spray the ball about. It was little wonder that when he came up against a team that put pressure on him - Spain - he was useless and his team were annihilated or even someone like England who shut down all of his targets leaving him unable to influence the game to any great extent.

Last night was further evidence of that. When Celtic got in his face, he gave the ball away. Simple really. Only when Celtic's pressing started to fade from their efforts was he able to influence the game. In Serie A, he lives off his reputation and is given all the space he wants to play in his own half. In any of the other top leagues, he would not get such time and space. Some Championship level player would be on him in a flash looking to cut him in half.

He is certainly no Xavi or Iniesta, who can do everything Pirlo can do and more in far more limited space.

I have to agree with you about the completely bullshit that was the corner situation. What is also very telling, is that Celtic wasted a lot of their momentum when it came to corners, simply because it took so long for them to be swung into the box. When you have that sort of momentum and are pushing your opponents back, you want to keep the tempo relatively high. It was all very stuttered when it came to set-pieces.

I wasn't shocked, however, to see the referee not punish the defenders for their part in the raucous, simply because the defending teams always get the advantage in those situations. How many times have you seen goalkeepers get free kicks when they make a complete mess of an attempted clearance or punch? Although it riled me at the time, I was never hopeful of Hooper getting a penalty for that. A booking seemed ridiculous though, you're right.

The tackle on Brown was ridiculous though. He basically got pushed to the ground. If that's not a penalty, then I have no idea what was.

I do reckon that Lennon and co. are right to question the officiating, especially when there is an extra official behind the goal looking out for things like that. The goal line official missed the ball going over the line in the first half and then the dirty tactics that Juventus employed throughout. Hopeless to say the least.

Either way, I wouldn't have fancied anyone to score a penalty into Buffon.

I have to agree with you on this too.

I've often thought that Pirlo was overrated. He was found out last night and had a very quiet game. He did find some space now and then but he did nothing of note with the ball. Wanyama and Brown were all over him last night and he was often on the floor rolling around and looking for sympathy. That is the mark of a desperate man and Pirlo was the picture of that last night.

That said, Wanyama really played well last night. I really don't see him staying at Celtic past the summer. With reports that Arsenal and Man Utd are looking at tabling bids for him, I don't see how we can keep hold of him. Especially when a possible offer could reach £10 or £15 million.

As a Rangers fan the way Rangers fans reacted last night was an embarrassment.

That being said Celtic fans reacted the same when we lost to Queen of the South.

What were the Gers fans up to like?

This is the most nervous I've been to watch a game since Barcelona in 2011. Fucking Sky and their crazy hyped build-up! Mon United!

As nerve-racking as that was, 1-1 is a great result to take back to Old Trafford. The biggest surprise for me was not seeing Tom Cleverley feature at all, although Giggs seemed to have a more calming influence on the team once he came on for Kagawa.

Welbeck and De Gea were both brilliant, but I just love me some Jones. Such a beast.

Oh the irony of Celtic fans complaining about their treatment from refs.

I can't stand posts like this.

Say what you want about certain fans but don't tar people with the same brush simply because you have a cross to bare. One Celtic fan talks about the refereeing decisions and now EVERY Celtic fan must be at it, eh?

Get real.

Just my FB was full of stupid jokes about it.

The only Rangers related thing I heard was Kris Commons' reaction when he found out Juve were training at Murray Park, "Juventus can train in my back garden, it would make no difference. If they want to prepare at a Division Three training ground let them get on with it."

Is Tiote a fraudster then or what? Haven't heard anything more since his car got taken.

Neh he just didn't have insurance on the car. He's starting tonight so I imagine not.

I have a feeling that Zenit will pick off Liverpool at Anfield too. Liverpool will try to attack and Zenit will hit them on the counter.

Yeah that's what I was saying to my mate today.

This Chelsea game is dull as fuck to be fair.
