As long as he doesn't want to up his wages he should serve us well. Clattenburg could be an option down the line as a good replacement, but his form is erratic at best. United need consistent quality.

Say, with the money and power of the Russian mob behind them, why haven't Chelsea bought a ref yet? Closest they got was a Rafa, I bet Roman is still face-palming over that communication blunder.

Yeah that game at St James' last season let him down.

I cannot stand all this 'fake number 9' position shite. How different is it to this playing in the hole jazz? It just seems to have been the buzz-phrase of the last 2 months and is now downright irritating, but not as much as that heart hands celebration.

I think I need Gary Neville to cut through the shit and tell it as it is.

Had two coupons on today but Tottenham have went and spoiled one already.

Still, I've got the other one and it's looking okay.

EVERTON vs Swansea.
CHELSEA vs Stoke.
LEEDS vs Barnsley.
SHREWSBURY vs Hartlepool.
CARDIFF vs Ipswich
LEICESTER vs Bristol City.

Christ, what the fuck does Ollie Holt have in his hair on Sunday Supplement!? Out of all the writers that come on the show, I can only stand the presenter and the Scottish guy that isn't Patrick Barclay. Its good hangover TV though, just muttering "bastards" at them no matter what subject they're talking about.

Oh and poor John Walters.

We have an Etihad Stadium here in Melbourne. Ours has a higher capacity too.

Real glad to see Kidderminster back in the top 5 after the win yesterday. I doubt anyone here cares, but for the kidds, thats bang tidy. We're taking this conference league for all its got this time, babaaaaay!!

Have to laugh at some of the comments I have seen about the Arsenal red. A rugby tackle five yards from goal with the ball a yard away and it shouldn't be a pen and a red?

Now, Kompany; that was never a red in a million years.

As for Utd/Liverpool, after a blunt first half it became another case of Liverpool not getting something from a game that they probably deserved. Exposed Utd's midfield and defensive frailty throughout the second half but could not get more than one goal.

When it comes down to it, a defensive balls up of our own was the difference.

What did we do this time? I was at my grans 90th birthday lunch so I missed the game.

Whether it be controversial or not I always say it after a United/Liverpool game. It's not easy being the only Liverpool supporter in your group of friends, most of which are United supporters.

I'm a bit surprised there's not more United fans on here to be honest, I think Liverpool and Newcastle are the most supported teams. Well, in this thread at least.

Was it a decent enough game though?

Yeah. I'm not disappointed with our performance, poor in the first half but in the second Sturridge made an instant impact and picked up a goal. We were sloppy though, we'd chances but didn't take them. And United's second goal was easily avoidable had we better defending, but we don't, because we're Liverpool and our defense is shit!

Happy with Sturridge and the second-half performance. I imagine you'll catch up with MOTD?

Indeed I shall, just set the reminder now. There's bugger all else on tonight so unlikely to get distracted by anything else. Saw most of the highlights for the other games last night so just gonna see the United game then get back to the US Office. Rewatching the 2nd season and forgot how much I love Pam. Turns out it was a lot.

For what it's worth, my English team is Spurs. Seen them a few times too when I was younger.

As for today, a Manchester double was really only the most likely scenario. Arsenal and Liverpool just don't have the consistency.

Really Dave? I mean, I like Spurs and I dont even like Spurs. If you can make sense of that.

Genuinely rooting for the Gunners today though :(

Yeah, my grandfather was stationed in London just after the second world war and really took a liking to Tottenham. He used to drive buses after his service and drove people to and from the matches.

When he came back to Scotland, he always made a point of continuing to follow them. So much so that he would make me watch them too.

I seriously doubt Arsenal would have gotten points from City today, they just didn't have enough firepower. One of my mates said that Arsenal should just say "fuck it" and buy Falcao. Must be said, it would do wonders for the team and they could afford him.

Unfortunately I listen to the pundits, so when they said that City dont have Yaya Toure (beast) they might struggle against Arsenals midfield, plus Arsenal always up their game against City, plus they were at Home I really thought they had a good chance. Then I saw Walcott was their main striker and he's gone missing as of late. Then that guy had to get himself sent off.

I think they're a good team to follow, Spurs that is, rarely do you get an un entertaining game from them.

Still, at least the Man United/Liverpool game was on, the best part of that one is that most of the time one of them loses.

My thinking on the Arsenal situation is that they vat probably still the 4th best team in the Premier League. That said, the gap between them and the top 3 (Chelsea, United and City) is getting wider and wider. In fact, it is the gap between them and the likes of Everton and Tottenham that is getting closer to closing. I really don't see anyone other than the big 3 winning the Championship in a long while.

As for today, they were just toothless and that's sad because they have had some amazing strikers throughout the years. Walcott is not on the same level as Henry, Wright, Bergkamp or even Van Persie. They need strikers and they need new defenders that aren't French.

Basically, the way I see it, they won't be successful until Wenger is gone and the whole ethos of not spending for success is gone with him. He's not attracting the best players and with the level of competition in the EPL, you need to be able to spend that sort of money.

The problem with Walcott is that he only really looks a decent forward when the game is stretched or Arsenal are playing against lesser opposition. Yesterday, he was up against a team with a strong defence and an early lead and rarely looked like getting any joy.

Would it help if he had had more time deployed as a central striker and learnt how to play on the shoulder or in between the centre halves and full backs? Probably.

Did anyone see the footage of the linesman after the Arsenal City game telling the City players, "Your fans paid £62 today, go over and see them." Good stuff.
