The players knew whatever happened this season the blame will fall on Moyes. When Fergie was in charge if they played poorly everyone would blame them first.

The Scholes decision was even worse when that was the final push for Pogba to leave. Imagine being passed over by senior defenders playing out of position in midfield during an injury crisis, and when they were out, and you thought finally your turn has come, your manager picked your coach to unretire instead of giving you a chance.

On the whole, however, Fergie signed guys who were meant for the future. Who were surely meant for when he was gone. Smalling, Jones, Buttner, Zaha, De Gea, Powell. Even Kagawa and Hernandez are pretty young. Add Fabio, Rafael, Cleverley, Januzaj and Welbeck then that is a group of players all with potential. There is also Bebe and Obertan that were signings that didn't work out. As for the here and now, he still has Van Persie and Rooney to rely on - the main issue being they are both injured.

The theory must have been that some of these players will become world class and Moyes can bring in his own players around them.

Looking at this objectively, I blame Ferguson because this is still very much Ferguson's team and the squad he left behind and it's those players that are failing. How long has everyone been saying "Man U really need a better midfield"? 2-3 years? But did Ferguson do anything about it? Nope, he got Paul Scholes to unretire for just long enough until Ferguson could leave.

I asked this question in response to your other post, but you didn't answer it. How is it Ferguson's fault that he was supposedly so good that he got a group of Average players who are now supposedly only good enough for 4th or 5th in the league to play so far above their actual ability that they won the League?

I couldn't have more praise for Ferguson but he isn't that good.

Scholes retired. Our Midfield was short. The club has a mountain of debt. Ferguson convinces Scholes to come back, rather than spend millions on someone. Our Midfield was much improved. Do you really think Ferguson sat there and went "fuck Paul Scholes is retiring... I better do the same and let the next manager have a shit team even though I'm planning to move into the boardroom anyway".

Moyes has brought in 1 player, who has been injured and was a desperation move anyway because all the Man U fans were complaining about the lack of signings.

In addition, he's had no RVP and Rooney has been missing quite a lot too. I don't blame Moyes because it isn't his Man U yet, but if they miss out on the Champions League this season, they're fucked. If it was difficult to sign quality players last summer, it's not going to be any easier in 2014. You can basically forget about the title for at least 5 years if they don't finish top 4.

I'll agree he has been unlucky to have our two best players out, but there have been rumblings that it could be down to his training... I wont blame it on him because there is no actual proof it's his fault.

Moyes may have only bought one player, but he was given funds to buy more. The summer was embarrassing for the club... I said this before but do you really think a Manager like Mourinho would have been in a simular position. Moyes is being let off because of his inexperience, and that's not fair. This isn't Everton, this is Manchester United and Manchester United win trophies if Moyes isn't good enough to win things then he can fuck off.

Dont get me wrong, I understand that the squad isn't the best in the league, it's probably the 4th best, which is why I was happy to except that we probably weren't going to win anything this year and maybe even next as Moyes built his team... but we have to stay in the Champions League and if Moyes can't even deliver that then he needs to go.

Aye imagine their squad, stretched out by European competition, having to play Thursday and then Saturday/Sunday. Oh hello relegation.:shifty:

They'll be relegated by then. You clearly don't have daily interaction with mackems. You don't have to put up with them calling Europe yourewpe.

Fortunately I've been informed that runner ups of the league cup don't get in Europe.

It's needed, that and the 3pm Saturday kick off the week after the season.

Would push people for the cup a lot more.

How I perceive the Mata situation to pan out. United buy Mata. They either a) play him on the wing or b) play him behind the striker.

If a) people will see that he is slow and can't defend, which is why Mourinho doesn't play him. It worked under the old Chelsea managers, because they used the full backs for width, a luxury that Chelsea, with a 56 year old Ashley Cole no longer have.

If b) They will either have to rely on Michael Carrick or Marouane Fellaini to be the muscle in midfield, or they will have 5 in midfield, and Rooney won't play, see his arse and move to Chelsea in the summer, probably for about 40 million quid.

Either way, it's a fucking bizarre decision. As would buying any reserve for £40 million. Still, better than Leighton Baines I guess.

Moyes doesn't really seem to have a plan. People can say it's a transitional season, but if so, why not play Jones at centre half and fuck Vidic and Ferdinand off?

Mata's a great player, but it seems a bit put the cart before the horse and just buy whoever's there. Still, if they did that in the summer they'd have Ozil not Fellaini, so maybe its a good idea.

Rooney will surely be gone in the summer. At that point his contract will have 12 months left to go - Moyes might not even get a say.

Mata is probably worth £35 million. He may only play on the wing a few times bearing in mind he isn't available for Champions League and Rooney/RVP's injuries. Is Mata alone going to get them Champions League? I doubt it but if he does: well done Moyes.

35mil & the rest.
I cant believe Mourinho would be so stupid as to sell Man U exactly what they need, especially after they ruled out the Rooney move. You dont sell your best player to your rivals.

Somebody should have told Arsenal that, the dopey fucks.

It's one of many things United seem to need right now.

Doesn't look like such a bad decision now.

Though, ironically, Mourinho didn't let us loan Demba Ba during the summer.

Unfortunately United aren't direct rivals to Chelsea this year, so selling Mata doesn't really affect them too much apart from have United potentially take points off their rivals.

According to BBC we've had a £37m bid accepted, a bit overpriced but that's what happens when you buy in January. Good signing though.

Wenger feels outraged that Mata has been sold to Utd because it might harm their chances of claiming the title. You can't make this shit up. Unless that's exactly what my mate Gary just did when he told me.
