It depends. If he showed some intelligence he could play deeper and carry on like Scholes. Problem is, he has never shown that kind of awareness. He always burst forward at every chance. Plus his injuries will take a toll. He will be done by 35 in my opinion.

I want him to do his coaching badges and stay at the club but I'm not sure. I am concerned though. We struggle to replace Alonso and Mascherano, I don't know who can replace Stevie. Maybe Rodgers will change the tactics to extend his career a little by telling him to measure his attacking efforts.

It looks like Rangers are gonna be out of the SPL then. Their recent proposal to the HMRC (or liquidators, whoever) has been rejected and now the other SPL teams are going to have to vote as to whether they can remain in the league. While Rangers' draw used to help smaller teams have improved gates, considering all the restrictions that have been placed upon them coupled with the likelihood of selling big players, I don't fancy their chances of staying in the SPL.

What a mess.

Interesting to see the reaction of the Spurs fans this morning. Read a few comments that are along the lines of Harry has left them in a worse position than when he took over due to his short-term planning with signings like Saha and Nelson, as well as lack of squad rotation.

Yeah i read the same kind of ones on another forum. But sure when he took over they were battling relegation!

I saw Shinji Kagawa play here down under a few days ago; he is an amazing player. Man United picked up a great playmaker, he is incredible on the ball.

Redknapp's sacking was quite a bad decision. They'll lose their top players if they don't appoint a new manager soon, like, really soon. And if they appoint AVB...

I'd say it was entirely justified based on his management from January onwards. Don't quite see why AVB would be a bad appointment, Spurs don't have quite the same number of egotistical players that would cause a problem for him as Chelsea do.

It was the Tottenham players' faults that they got tired towards the end of the season, not Redknapp's. From what I gathered, there wasn't any communication between AVB and the Chelsea players. It wasn't their egos that was causing problems, it was non-existent man-management. I imagine he succeeded at Porto because they were already the top side in Portugal.

Redknapp brought it on himself. He bought a lot of decent fringe players but never rotated so they lost out on confidence and became awful.
For example, I was at the hearts game when spurs beat us 5-0 in the Europa League earlier in the season. Niko Krankjcar played at centre-mid and he was incredible. Probably the best performance I have ever seen live and i have seen Messi play (all be it in a friendly).
But as soon as they signed Parker and Modric stopped crying he stopped playing him. He even played Livermore more than Krankjcrar which is just stupid. Guys like Keane, Bently, Giovanni Dos Santos were all talented but just never got a chance. I think they should get someone young in who could rebuild the squad. AVB would be a good choice.

I reckon Bale, Van der Vaart and Modric will leave.

Don't you think it would have been rather worrying if Niko Kranjcar didn't perform against a Scottish team that wasn't Celtic or Rangers? Bentley and Dos Santos never performed.

I totally agree that he needed to rotate towards the end of the season and that he was at fault but he got them where they are, he didn't deserve the sacking unless Levy's bringing in some World Class manager (not AVB) to go on and win them the League. They should have had their new man on standby, ready to come in and garuntee stability (like City with Hughes & Mancini). It seems that they don't. With more money and Champions League football to be had elsewhere; They'll at least lose Modric and Bale because of this, their top two players.

I don't see why they need to rebuild, this is easily one Spurs' best-ever sides and losing their two best players (with others possibly) won't help at all.

If they do lose Modric and Bale the warehouse full of cash they will get in return will be more then enough to buy adequate replacements. What manager they appoint is very important and im surprised someone like levy didn't have somebody already lined up. I said a few months ago that Harry had taken them as far as he could.

True. But he was absolutely incredible. I'm sure if he played like that he could dominate against an average premiership team.

Dos Santos was never given a chance. He is a top quality player. He proves this every time he plays for mexico. I seem to remember him having a great world cup in 2010, and I expected him to continue this form for Spurs but he was never given a chance. It can't be that difficult to play him every so often. When you look at it, Spurs only had 2 other strikers for half the season. Adabaoyor and Defoe. That was it. Saha came in, but that was pointless. Play GDS and i'm sure he would do well.

Come to think of it who will really buy Bale.

I doubt United would spend that much on a player they don't need. City are aware of financial fair play and would need investment in other areas. They already have Nasri, Silva, Johnson, Milner and Tevez. Chelsea have Hazard, Mata, Marin and perhaps Hulk. Arsenal is obvious. Madrid have Ronaldo and I really can't see them two playing well together.

Barca? Realistically the most viable option but even then they are apparently short on cash and are going to alternate between big spending summers and last summer was one of the big summers. It would be really interesting to see Bale and Alves on opposite flanks with Three CB'S. Then cesc, Xavi and Iniesta in the middle with Messi and Villa up front. OH my that would be a good team.

His time in South Africa was the best I've seen him play. In Club football for both Spurs and Barca (was it?); I remember him always coming off the bench, and not impressing. One time he started against Chelsea for Spurs and played terribly. He quite laughably faked an injury that match.

Would I have ever played Dos Santos ahead of Defoe and Adebayor whilst challenging for the top four? Not really.

They're without a manager and don't have Champions League football or insane amounts of filthy cash. Adequate replacements certainly wouldn't be easy to come by. You're very right when you say it's important what manager they appoint.
