Domestic football - spam version

I must say that I would be very uncomfortable if Rio was left out for anything other than reasons of form or fitness. If it came down to whether he could play with Terry, the man who racially insulted his brother allegedly, then I know who should have been left out...

Get rid of Milner, Welbeck and Downing. Bring in Jagielka, Johnson & ... Sturridge possibly. The balance of that squad is just a bit mid-heavy for my liking, especially considering we only have 3 usable strikers and no cover at right back for G Johnson.

Terry's far better than Ferdinand and if you had to choose one or the other, then it's Terry easily. He should get his rightful captaincy back too.

Certainly, no Micah Richards is quite stupid.

No and no. Personally I wish he'd fuck off, he's an embarassment to England as a person and isn't quick enough to play internationally. If both were healthy I'd take Rio every day and I damn well hate Man U and anyone who plays for them.

What matters is how well he plays, not his personality. Terry plays well consistently and I don't think he can play and not be captain, it just isn't right.

I would both have picked Terry, and would start him alongside Cahill. We don't have an established pair at the back, there's no time to establish one, so go with the two guys who have experience of playing together.

I also wouldn't have stripped the armband from him; but that's more to do with being a decent human being rather than a tactical decision.

I too would have picked Terry for the squad but if Roy wanted to pick both Rio and Terry but found out that one or both did not want to play with the other then, as the guilty party, Terry should have missed out.

As for the armband, I never thought that Terry should have been given it in the first place. While he was and to some extent still a good leader, his poor reputation preceeded him and has proven largely correct and once he was stripped of it the first time, rightly or wrongly, he should never have gotten it back. The hot-potatoing of the captaincy under Capello was ridiculous. What kind of message would it send for him to get it back again?

With Rio out, Parker seemingly injured, Rooney suspended and Terry black-balled, there really is only really one other option and that is Gerrard.

If in doubt; give it to the goalkeeper. Let's not kid ourselves here; at this point who is actually wearing the armband matters very little. I'd rather not stick myself in a position where I'm obligated to play Steven Gerard the whole time.

I would agree with this for not only has Gerrard not proven hismelf to be 100% fit, his form is in the toilet.

However, when I look at the England goalkeeper, I see an arrogant shite who has no business being a captain. Having said that, the lack of true model professionals in the modern game makes picking a captain a difficult job.

Stewart Downing- 0 goals, 0 assists for the season. No WAY should he be in.

Micah Richards should certainly have been picked.

Daniel Sturridge would be a great replacement for Downing, he can play on the wing AND up front.

John Ruddy? Seriously scraping the barrel for goalkeepers- why doesnt Foster come out of International retirement?!

And Jordan Henderson can fuck off. Not worthy of even being a back up. Has Woy not watched the Prem this year? Henderson has been dog breath.

Yet no one's bitching about Parker being in.

Parker genuinely is though. Oh what's that HE'S TURNING ON THE SPOT IN THE CENTRE CIRCLE WHO KNOWS WHAT WITCHCRAFT THIS MAN CAN DO.

I agree that the media have gone way over the top with their praise of Parker but that does not mean that he is not good at his job as a midfield spoiler.

We'll agree to disagree.

Yeah, I suspect England are doomed to quarter final elimination are per the norm.

Better than not qualifying.

Surely Fraser Forster is a better back up option than John Ruddy.

Maybe Frank Lampard will show up this time...

He showed up against Spain ;)

Couldn't agree more with Gelgarin. Had Richards been picked and put in the line up, I believe England would have had the best defence on paper going into Euro.

Gerrard getting the armband is a bit pathetic after the season he and Liverpool have had.

Dalglish departure from Liverpool is about to be announced.
