First let me just start off by saying that I am not a huge TNA fan as it is. For whatever reason I never really got dedicated to be in front of my TV for every Impact. Though I can say I have been keeping up with it through the results and spoilers posted on sites like WZ. Growing up on the programming that Vince McMahon provided me, I guess you could say I am a little biased because lets face it he has proved to me that his company probably isn't going considering all of the shit he has fed to me over the years. I have watched through the good times and the bad and still keep coming back, don't ask me why.
With that being said, I love that TNA is around. I was one of the kids that would flip back and forth between Raw and Nitro because I LOVED the fact that I could. I just couldn't get enough of it and the fact that there was so much different shit going on between the two shows... it was great. Though I am not as dedicated as I was as a kid, I love the fact that their are options to watch. I love the fact that if Vince casts someone off his island, they have somewhere else to go. Look at Angle, if he never went to TNA then shit there could quite possibly be no TNA today.
Now throughout all the years of TNA being this little company that had quite a few big name stars, people have been complaining about one thing or another. Get Jarrett out of the title picture, push AJ, push Joe, give Joe the belt, get the belt off Joe, push the X-Division more, more Knockout matches, less knockout matches... whatever. What I am trying to get at is that no matter what the fuck they were trying to do, people would bitch. Much like the fans of WWE. They just weren't happy enough and thought they could do things better. In many cases they probably could but your not gonna win 'em all. I feel like over the years since WCW folded and TNA started up, they did a pretty damn good job of creating some NEW household names and putting on some epic matches.
That brings me to the Hogan Regime. Though I certainly have been skeptical as to how he is going to go about things, the dude has been at the helm for all of a month. People are shooting him in the face before he even gets a chance. Think about it, at the time TNA was pretty much stuck in the same spot. They bring Angle in, no real big change. Same with Christian. Shit even same with Sting. They just didn't have the exposure for whatever reason. Who better to bring in then arguably the most well known person associated with professional wrestling. We all know the stories about Hogan and his ego and for that reason alone people are simply not willing to give him a chance.
They bring in Hardy.. bad move don't matter if he was one of the best wrestlers last year. Dude is trouble.
Bring in Anderson.. guy has no skills. Get him outta the ring before he kills someone.
Morely is a has been as well as the Nasties, Hall, and Waltman..
Six sides are gone.. there goes there identity..
No matter what it is that gets change, people feel the need to think that it is the wrong way to go. Simply put, you are bitching just for the fact to shoot Hogan down. Shit I am as skeptical as the next guy, Hogan was alright back in the day but I wasn't a overly huge fan of him. But shit give the guy a chance. I honestly believe he is trying his best if for nothing else just so he can tell Vince that he can hang as far as running a company.. that which I will have to wait to see to believe.
They are just trying to bring in a couple people that people may recognize. Everyone wants to shit on it as Hogan just helping out his friends and in some cases he probably is. But its not like they are all being pushed thru the roof with gold strapped around their wastes. They are just offering new programming, something I don't have a problem with. Are the Nasties fat slobs? Hell yeah, always have been. But if its booked right I think they can have a fuckin helluva battle with 3D.. another team that are a couple of fat slobs that people still seem to like.
I understand the argument that with all these mediocre additions they are holding back some of the homegrown talent and that is where I agree. There is no doubt that the company is pretty much in a rebuilding period and it is gonna take some time to get back on track. As long as they stay away from the "entertainment" side of things and out on consistent 4-5 star matches then they will be making progress. We already have an option to watch a wrestling soap opera with the E... give us that alternative with some kick ass wrestling matches and I'll be checking it out.
It's funny because everyone is bitching about all the changes that are going on yet you keep watching if for nothing else just to find something to bitch about. If you don't like it, or if you don't like Hogan then don't watch.. its that simple because frankly I'm sick of seeing the same posts belittling EVERY SINGLE THING that they are doing.
They got a long way to go but I will atleast keep an open mind about it until they either succeed or implode..
What is it that you want to see them do? Which actions would you like to see taken? What are some of the moves you yourself would make if given the opportunity?
