Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig

The Following matchup takes place in Orlando, FL in the Impact Zone. All matches take place in a six sided ring.

2 out of 3 Falls: Fall 3
YOU ARE VOTING FOR FALL 3 ONLY IN THIS THREAD
It's simply a regular wrestling match, but the person to win the most out of 3 falls is the winner.

I went with Henning over Austin. I just feel that Henning is too experience and is too much the superior athlete to lose to Stone Cold twice in a night. He will have Austin scouted up and down, left and right.

Even in his prime in WWF, Austin had knee problems and neck problems. We fought through it, but come on, Henning would exploit those weaknesses. The man is a master of limb psychology. He ran with Ric Flair and showed many times that he knows how to attack an opponent's knees. He can apply the figure four leg lock masterfully (he did to Flair). He also had a longer prime than Austin did.

Henning is an artist in the ring. Austin is a great entertainer, but at the end of the day, he's little more that a brawler and a catch phrase.

Hennig is the perfect wrestler, I don't care what the Bret Hart marks say, Hennig did everything Bret Hart did only better, Hennig is one of the top wrestlers of all time. Certainly he is the greatest wrestler never to be world champion (in the wwf or wcw anyway), and possibly the greatest intercontential champion, at least in my opinion anyway. Perfect was one of the few wrestlers with the total package in my opinion.

Stone Cold is probably after Hulk Hogan, the biggest name ever in wrestling. Stone Cold's in ring work is underated, I think he is prehaps the greatest brawler ever. Considering his body was fucked after '96 he still put on great wrestling matches, they might not have been classics but Austin still kept every single one of his matches entertaining.

Technically he wasn't bad either, we will never know how good he could have been but without the injury its debatable whether he would have been the huge draw later in his career.

This is a close one to call, I'm going with Stone Cold though because although Hennig was the total package, he never really was a main event star. So there is a small bit of doubt whether he would have been as good in the main event scene. Simply put though if Austin managed to turn this match into a brawl and stretch the rules a little he would win, Hennig despite the great wrestler he was if Stone Cold turned this match into a brawl It I don't think Hennig could cope with the offense. I would love to vote for Hennig but Stone Cold wins a very close match.

I have to echo you here. I picked Austin to win the first one with a quick stunner, but Henning' superior wrestling will wear down Stone Cold and he will win the next two falls. Austin will probably take this but he shouldn't.

Ladies and Gentlemen-

To vote for Austin is to take a "safe" way out. To vote for Steve Austin in his Attitude Era Prime is to vote for a catch phrase, not a wrestler. I realize that Austin was a mega-draw, but we aren't here voting on these matches to make money for a wrestling promotion. We are here to vote on who we think SHOULD win in certain situations.

Curt Henning is a damn legend. The man had a long career in which he came back from major back problems. He wrestled a classic match and put over Bret hart at Summerslam with said bad back. In fact, I venture to say without Curt Henning there IS NO BRET HART. Henning put over Hart and in the meantime started to create a future legend.

Austin got the push he did because he was the perfect person to start the envelope pushing in the WWF at the time. Middle fingers and cans of the ass-whip don't transform someone into a great wrestler. I like Austin, but let's EVERYBODY band together and DO THE RIGHT THING.
