Diva Scene

I hope the title hasn't deterred you from reading on. But I will admit, one of my guilty pleasures when it comes to professional wrestling is analyzing the living daylights out of the diva's division.

As we all know, divas wrestling goes unappreciated, often times deservedly so, but I think the diva's division has been at it's best, better than it has been in a long time. There are three angles on RAW where divas are being utilized (Eve vs. Alicia, DiBiase and Maryse, and Harts vs. Usos) one on Smackdown! (LayCool vs. Kelly Kelly and Tiffany), and even one on NXT (LayCool and Kaval).

The divas matches have even been better lately, as many of the divas are very talented. Eve has a wonderful moonsault, something you rarely see from a diva nowadays, Michelle is fairly skilled in the ring, and even Alicia is doing pretty well for herself. Hell, Kelly Kelly is pretty athletic in the ring.

So, what I want to do with this thread is rank the divas and give some thoughts on where they stand.

1) Eve- Could be a little biased as I really like Eve, but I feel like she's the most talented diva on the roster, and will be involved in feuds and storylines for a long time.

2) Michelle McCool- Layla might be the champion, but Michelle McCool is the real star of LayCool. She's good in the ring, good on the mic, and just got married to The Undertaker, which will only help her get pushed.

3) Alicia Fox- First and foremost, she has the greatest hips in the world. Eat your heart out Shakira. But it's not as if her body is all she has going for her. She had a very good promo last night backstage, and has been improving in the ring. She's been in and out of the main event diva's scene for a while, but with her recent performance, I see her staying.

4) Layla- I don't dig Layla in the ring, but I love her look and character. She's been doing great things with Michelle, and I seen an inevitable feud coming between them, once the WWE has milked LayCool for all it's worth.

5) Maryse- Maryse has never impressed me with her wrestling abilities. I remember one match she had against Gail Kim, she got her ass kicked the whole time, and then won after Gail was climbing to the top rope and Maryse kicked her in the ankle. However, as unimpressive as she is in the ring, she's extremely impressive with her mic skills. Pairing her with Ted DiBiase has made both of them even more despicable.

6) Kelly Kelly- She's always gotten a push because the fans absolutely love her, but she's been getting an actual push in the wrestling scene lately. She's had matches with both Michelle and Layla, and has performed well in both.

7) Natalya/Tamina- Both are actually playing a role in their feud other than standing next to the ring and looking pretty. I see Natalya eventually breaking into the actual diva scene.

8) Serena- She finally got to speak last Friday! Things are shaking up in the SES as a result of Serena, and look for her to play a bigger role in the SES each week.

Everyone else is kind of a jumble. Tiffany is rarely used, and I don't even know if she's any good in the ring. The Bellas are a side show; come see the hot Bella twins who win every match with the same gimmick. Rosa is jumping rope, Jillian is making our ears bleed, and Gail is jobbing.

So how would you classify the diva's scene right now, and how would you rank the divas?

I agree to Eve, i dont know why there is another Divas post, i guess its more cry outs. You also forgot Melina on that list. IDK what that first part was about analyzing them... but you should seriously get out more if its what im thinking. No one thinks bad of the Divas. The Divas are not meant to be the same type of entertainment as the males. Theres nothing to change about that. But if they are going to be the male crowd entertainment type they should show more personality and character.

I often find divas boring and often see that as my bathroom break but I am not going to be cynical and say "Teh OMG there not lit Lita and Trish". No one is going to be ever again. That said I do agree the division it heating up a little with these newer divas whom I hope are given some more time to improve rather then letting them be the current "it" diva and putting them in the back when they hit there expiration. For example keep Fox as a champion let her build her rep, and establish a character. Please just do not in 2 weeks take the title off of her and give it to one of the Bella's or some other rarely scene diva. I guess what I am aiming for is I would like to see some continuity in the scene.

So I guess I would defiantly rank as such:

1. Alicia
2. Eve
3. LayCool
4. Kelly Kelly - Who is shooting up that last quick.
5. Maryse - Never been a fan, as I personally find her overrated and obnoxious at times. Maybe this Dibiase paring will help.

All of the divas outside of Kelly Kelly, and Beth Phoneix need new themes also in my opinion as they all sound terrible and generic.

Does anyone really care about divas? I mean whenever I see them on tv I change the damn channel. Their just flat out boring period. No one wants to see divas wrestle they want to see them in bra and panties matches. Now that makes for great television.

the division has been better than it has for long time its still not as good as the Trish and Lita days but its still doing good. I HATE when people disrespect the divas. i rember saying this in another thread there NOT bathroom breaks they go out there and try to entertain you sure they botch sometimes but so do the men but you dont here as much griping.

1. KELLY KELLY- i'll admit i'm biased towards Kelly but she's been doing really good since coming to SD! she's showing she can be athletic in the ring, she's getting a good push, and well she's BEAUTIFUL(and that dont hurt)
2. Michelle McCool- as much as i dont like her and think she needs to stay away from the title picture for awhile. she's very atletic and fierce in the ring.
3. Maryse- she can wrestle even though since her injury she's been taking it easy but she can go if she wants and well she SEXY as hell
4. Melina i like Melina but i think she alitle over-rated(just my opion) but she can wrestle and look HOT doing it.
5. Beth Phoinex- she is like a hotter verizion of Chyna. she has the strenght of Chyna but alot hotter than her.
6. Natalya/Tamina- natalya can wrestle she has the tradition and we havent seen much of Tamina but that one and if you want to count that litle match shes doing pretty good.

and thats all ic an think of but people like Tiffany alot of people on another site over rate her alot saying she should get a title shot because she can take a good bump

The only divas I like are Kelly Kelly, Tiffany and Beth Phoenix. They are all good in the ring and good on the mic.

Mayrse just annoys me, speaking French, her stupid taunt, everything she does just irritates me, I can't really explain why.

And Team LayCool??? They have to be the MOST annoying thing in WWE!!! I can't stand ANYTHING about them, and it's not because they are heels.

Co-womens champion? They're only doing that because Layla couldn't draw on her own, otherwise they would have been co-champions when McCool held the title.

The silly, childish name calling (Piggy James, Smelly Kelly, Glama-man)?? That's just pathetic, it's like they are trying to look like a pair of spoiled 8 year olds. McCool used to be a teacher, you would like to think that she would not support bullying in this way.

Layla's accent!!! She's ENGLISH!!! Why does she feel the need to use the most annoying and fake American accent that she can muster? It's just AWFUL!!

The brief allignment with Vickie Guerrerro, calling her a cougar? That's more unbelievable that the 'Punjabi Playboy'

The interactions with Kaval? Watch him in TNA, or ROH, or his appearances in NXT. He should have been paired with someone else, more serious, William Regal for example.

I would rather drill holes in my skull than put up with this pair, but, now that McCool is Mrs Taker, I guess they are here to stay

First and foremost, where's FalKon?

The best Divas material is on SmackDown thanks to LayCool. Unlike most people, I actually look forward to what they're gonna do next. As for the rest of the Divas on SD, I feel it's the more developed half of the division, due to having Beth Phoenix, Michelle McCool, and Kelly Kelly. When it comes to RAW, I'm never that excited for those matches mostly considering that Maryse or Eve is not Champion. I did like that Alicia Fox brought forward the fact that she had never been interviewed since being champion and believed that people didn't care about the Divas Championship. That may be true, but perhaps brigning it up means that the Divas division is going to heat up in the next few weeks.

Here's my personal rankings:

1 & 2: LayCool: Number 1 goes to Layla El, number 2 goes to Michelle McCool. I'm really glad that Layla has been getting put over a whole lot since being champion. When McCool first brought another Women's Championship to the ring, I was expecting McCool to be an attention ****e and try to steal the spotlight from Layla, but she's been a good sport and Layla has really been racking up wins since winning the Championship. Michelle McCool is up there because she's really good in the ring and she's pretty good on the mic as well. When LayCool loses the titles, Michelle will always stay the perennial contender.

3: Eve: I don't like her theme as it doesn't really get me excited to see her as much as say Mickie's theme used to. But despite all that, in my mind she is the most athletic Diva WWE has to offer right now. Blame it on the fact she can do a moonsault.

4 & 5: The Blondtourage: That's right Kelly Kelly at 4 and Tiffany at 5. Since leaving ECW, my eyes have been on Kelly Kelly. Not because she's wicked hot, but because with every match she gets better and better int he ring. She's also been stacking wins against LayCool these past few weeks and I can't wait for her to get her first Women's Championship reign. Tiffany is up there because, dammit, she's Tiffany and she's my Divas crush! I found her absolutely wonderful as GM of ECW and I think it's pretty cool how she still maintains a rather conservative look when walking to the ring with Kelly Kelly, who always looks like she's in her drawers (not to say that's a bad thing). I'm looking forward to seeing what the future has for Tiffany and the Blondtourage.

6: Serena: I'm still waiting for the day to see the Anti-Diva fight in the ring. Her mic skills are really great and I'm glad she got to showcase them last week on SmackDown. I hope that due to the video she doesn't get kicked off the Straight Edge Society considering I think she still needs that association to get her over until she starts having her own matches. Bald or not, she's always a delight to see. After all, Natalie Portman made bald sexy.

7: Maryse: Did anybody notice the similarity between Maryse and Marilyn Monroe last night? Similar white dress, platinum blond hair, all Maryse needed was the Monroe mole (or at least the piercing) and you could call it a night. Maryse is so freaking hot! She's not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to wrestling skills, but I really dig her ring psychology. She plays the douchebag Diva role to a T, probably due to life experience. I'm hoping she can help get Ted DiBiase over better and vise versa. Here's hoping the age of managers and helpful valets returns.

8: Alicia Fox: Despite being the Divas Champion, I haven't seen too much of Alicia that impresses me. But having a Title does things to people and at least her mic work improved this week with that promo. She also has a wicked scissors kick that definitely works for her as she has the long legs to pull it off nicely. Let's she what she can do.

9: Natalya: Personally she's the only one that could save the Divas Division on RAW. I think she has the most wrestling skills out of the entire division, but unfortunately, she doesn't get a chance to showcase it that often. I'm hoping that she'll eventually break into the wrestling market again and dominate and win the Divas Title because after all, 5 Title belts is always better than 4.

10: Tamina: She looks like a legit badass. I remember the interview they had last night and Tamina's arms looked bigger than Josh Mathews' entire body. I could imagine Tamina and Natalya being life long enemies and that rivalry would be awesome.
