I do, and the game should be great. I also enjoy other racing games. This is all depending if the world doesn't end in 2 months of course.
It would be best if George Lucas were totally uninvolved. He's produced two great films and four mediocre ones. Not a track record that demands he be continued.
They've got all of time and space to play with in this one, but I'm told the Timothy Zahn Expanded Universe material is excellent, so that would probably be a good place to go.

This was a Nerd Nuke that exploded on the internet yesterday. Crazy, completely unexpected news. I'm happy that the franchise will continue, and hoping it will be good. The only thing I'm really worried about would be the rights to the music. Star Wars without John Williams' score is just blasphemy.

Not sure there's a need to call this upcoming movie Episode VII. I doubt it will focus on the Skywalker's. Might as well dub it something else. Y'know, keep "Star Wars", but give it another sub heading. The potential for the Thrawn series to be adapted is there, I look forward to seeing that potentially happen. It's gold.

But to do the Thrawn series they'd have to cut down so much. Those are not small books, so the likelihood of potentially important pieces being left out or drastically changed is high.

Well you can always work it as a TV series much like the Clone Wars. There's plenty of oppertunity to market three series and still use the characters of Luke, Leia, Han Solo etc...

While I love the Thrawn series, I do not think they would translate well to film. As Ech says, there is so much to depict - the appearance of Mara Jade, the return of Thrawn, the past of Joruus C'baoth, the ysalamir, Talon Karrde, the Galactic Civil War, the clones, the Katana fleet, Garm Bel Iblis etc.
Plus, let's not try to hide the drastically anti-climactic finish. The multifaceted duel on Wayland could make for a great final scene but the Battle of Bilbringi is one of the biggest let downs in the EU.

I think any of us fans of the EU are going to have to realize that the possibility of those stories being irrelevant are very high. The time for the Thrawn Trilogy as a feature film has come and gone. Perhaps we might get a Pixar interpretation of that, preferably Shadows of the Empire, but don't hold your breath.
Lucas might protect the EU timeline by placing the new film in the Legacy Era (roughly 40 years after the first movie). This is pretty much unexplored territory, and the original actors could come back to play their roles, aged perfectly.
Mark Hammil just did an interview with EW saying him and Carrie Fisher had lunch with Lucas in the summer, and Lucas told them about the new trilogy. Apparently this has been in the works for over a year, so who knows how far along in the process they are. I for one would love to see the Original Three come back for a sequel trilogy, but good luck with Ford.

It would be awesome. Disney though has unlimited resources, so anything is possible. The Avengers is going to have Thanos by the looks of it in the next one. Disney will pay big cash for something they know is going to bank a billion at the box office.
The news is going to move fast on this thing. With the movie being slated for summer 2015, we have to hear news shortly. I'm genuinely pumped with all of the ways they can go.

I got some worries but also have a lot of excitement for this move. Star Wars Episodes I-III weren't my favorite movies and I can definitely see Disney doing a really good job with the sequel trilogy. They are Disney after all and have a proven track record of doing some good action/adventure movies as well.

Looks like the third trilogy is going to be an original work. I'm sad. Not because I think Disney will do a shitty job, but because I was realllllly hoping for an adaption of Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy. It is without a doubt some of the best material in the Star Wars universe, and I've always thought that if anything deserved its own adaption for the big screen, that collection should get first dibs.

He basically said that while a lot of people are nervous about Disney, they did a pretty good job with the Avengers universe and Pixar collection. And I guess the Muppets, but that's not really in the same league. It will really come down to who ends up directing the film, who ends up writing it, and how much input George Lucas still has in the creative process.
In my opinion, he shouldn't. If you need any more proof than the second Star Wars trilogy, just go ahead and re-watch Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull-fuckery.

George Lucas isn't directing. He's said for a long time that he's done making Stars Wars films, part of the reason for making this sale was to keep the Star Wars universe going, & growing & to pass it onto to a new generation of great filmmakers. Personally I would love to see guys like Joss Whedon, Peter Jackson, & J. J. Abrams all get shots at the Star Wars franchise. I know there was rumors that Joe Johnston (Capt. America director) wanted to make a Boba Fett movie, I'd personally love to see that movie made as well.
Another thing that seems to be getting a little overlooked in all of this, Disney now also has the rights to expand the Indiana Jones universe as well, & make new movies there as well.
