I still remember when Guerrero died how disappointed I was, knowing he was well on his way to winning the World title for the second time. But it still did not reach the magnitude I felt when I found out that 1.) Chris Benoit, my hero had died, 2.) He ttook his own life, 3.) He took his family with him.

If Wrestlemania XX was my highlight of the decade, he sure tried to take it away from me.

I originally nominated Goldberg v. Lesnar as the disappointment of the decade, but I don't know what I was thinking. I am going with the Chris Benoit tragedy.

He was my favorite wrestler at the time and one of the sole reasons why I would watch wwe programming at the time.

Then, what does he do, he takes his life and his family's. Whether it was roid rage or whatever, it was so upsetting that he would do something like that to himself and his family. It should be a shoe-in for disappointment of the decade

I think the consensus is hands down, the actions of Chris Benoit on that weekend of June 2007 was definitely the disappointment of the decade. You can't help but wonder how things might have been different if the Benoit situation had never happened. I miss Chris Benoit, the wrestler.... The man I pointed out to my dad while turning the channel to WCW Nitro in 1999 and saying "Yeah, if this guy ever went to WWE, he'd be a big star."

I will always remember the great memories that Chris Benoit the wrestler gave me. However, it's hard to square that with the actions that Chris Benoit, the "human being," took on that weekend. Even if medical science proves that he was not in his right frame of mind, it's still hard to watch a Chris Benoit match to this day knowing the actions he would take in x amount of years, months, or days.

WCW and ECW coming to an end is my choice here. The historical impact of them closing up shop, and being consumed by the WWE changed the face of wrestling, and changed every fan. There were a lot of people that watched only one of those shows, and they no longer had that option. WWE was/is the big boy on the block, and it was their way or the highway.

The actions of Benoit, I was confused on why he missed the PPV. The next day he was dead, later on everything had came out. I was the biggest Benoit mark in the world and then this... :|

The disappointment of the decade was the actions of Chris Benoit in summer 2007. I doubt anyone thought anything like that could happen and after two years we are still talking about it. He is never mentioned on tv or DVD's anymore because of what he did, which is a disappointment because he was a good wrestler before he did what he did. Unfortunately that's what he will be remembered for in the end rather than putting on good matches. I wasn't a big fan of his, but he still deserves to be mentioned in the history of the federation no matter how controversial his death was because his title reigns still happened, you can't erase that from the past.

I picked the Invasion Angle. We all knew near the end of WCW and ECW, that the then WWF would buy them and use their stars. Here's how it all went wrong though. The stars of these companies were not treated as such. Most of the people who wrestled in WCW and ECW had huge fanbases. However, they were all disappointed, as were I, when this angle played out.

This angle essentially did nothing but show on live television how weak Vince thought WCW and ECW were. If I remember correctly, the wrestlers of The Alliance rarely won a match, although when they did win, I believe it counted. When I was young I thought this was a great angle and played out great on tv. Now that I'm older, and realize what was going on, I realize how it could have been better.

I didn't care that ECW & WCW died, they were poor promotions at the time that needed to be put out of their misery. What I'm more disappointed about was how few stars WWE made out of former WCW & ECW stars. Booker T & RVD were over enough to give world title runs a year after they made their debut for the company and as shit as some of the younger WCW wrestlers were, they were a hell of a lot better than what's coming through WWE systems now.

this one was easy for me, I am A Goldberg Mark and I always will be, he is my favorite, but I went with Other, to me the biggest disappointment was Goldbergs WWE run. when Goldberg joined WWE I was so excited and it started goo with his rivalry with The Rock, however over all it was a disappointment. WWE had this idea to make Goldberg seem more human. WWE's Goldberg was not the goldberg I grew up loving. in WCW it took the companies top stars to give him a challenge. Im not saying he should never have helped somebody else work their way up, but he was selling chair shots to christian, who wwe at the time would give a push but always stop it short. in WCW if a superstar the caliber of christian hit Goldberg with a steal chair he would have shook it off and speared his ass. I am a fan of christian but if they are going to do this with him and Goldberg they should have then pushed him to the top of the card, not right back into midcarder level

I was going to go with Benoit as mostly everybody did. But then i thought it isnt a disappointment. The only disappointment is not seeing him wrestle any more. It is unbelieveably sad and tragic what happened to Chris and family, but i wouldn't classify it as disappointment since i wasnt looking forward to anything. I would vote for it as the most tragic moment.

The most disappointing for me is Mr. Kennedy. This guy has it all. The look. The promos. The character. The ability in the ring. He accidentally took a fall on Orton's bad arm and has some injury issues and he is gone? He very well could be a multiple time WWE Champion if it wasn't for bad luck. He would have won with MITB, he was slated originally to be McMahon's son and would have led to more for his career. I really hope to see him back in WWE soon.

What I consider a disappointment is something that was expected to be huge turning out to be a total failure so I'm eliminating all of the deaths, even Chris Benoit's. My vote will go to the Invasion 50% of because what happened and 50% what could have happened. The angle was basically made up of midcard guys from ECW and WCW against the best in the WWE. There was no question who was going to win that one and RVD was the most over out of all of them despite being a heel. If they would have waited until the next year they could have Hogan, Hall, Nash, and possibly Steiner against HHH, HBK, Rock, Austin, and Angle. That would have been great but instead we got a eight month storyline in which the only good besides RVD was Undertaker turning heel which I loved.

To many this is a no brainer, however I had to fice it some thought. The two choices I had them narrowed down to were, Chris Benoit killing his family, and Eddie Guerrero dying. Hands down Chris Benoit of the greatest workers WWF had seen in years, and was able to fascinate me each time I watched him wrestle. Sure his mic skills weren't the greatest, but when Benoit won the world title at WM XX no one disputed if he deserved it or not. What was an upset was that he had a chance to elevate a brand and superstars however, we never got to see that.

It's not even fair to have the Benoit tragedy in this poll, what else could be more disappointing than that. It feels weird calling it a disappointment, which it obviously is, but like..shocking or tragic is what I would best describe it.

I don't think the Benoit thing is really a "disappointment." As LJL said, you have to be expecting something great for there to be a disappointment. I'd say it's more like a disaster.

I think the ending of WCW and ECW was rather disappointing. Wrestling was at it's best when there was competition and multiple options out there. When these companies folded, we were left with a monopoly. Hopefully that's something that'll change in the near future.
