Diamond Dallas Page Turns Down TNA Return

No big loss for TNA in my view. I always thought DDP was alright but I was never heavily into the guy.

One thing I will say is that he's managed to find something that I wish more of these aging veterans were able to do: he seems to have found contentment outside of wrestling. As IDR stated, DDP has been involved in some acting projects and a motivational speaker. He's also heavily involved in yoga now and it just seems like that DDP has got his shit together.

Even if DDP had decided to take TNA up on its offer, I doubt that he would've stayed completely out of the ring. He'd at least wrestle on occassion. If he's as much into yoga as I've read in the past, then he might well be as overall physically fit as most of the younger guys on the TNA roster.

BUMP!

Sorry guys, its probably irrelevant now but was watching some old school Nitro before and noticed that when DDP was announced, it would say from 'New Jersey'. I also remember when Robbie E planted Jay Lethal after a match on PPV with an old school Diamond Cutter. I have no doubts that he was maybe offered a gig with the whole Shore gimmick.

Thank god he turned it down.

If he was going to be a manager or replacing Taz or Tenay at the announce table then I would have liked the addition of DDP to the TNA roster, however I doubt that was the case, and it seems DDP has put together a pretty good life for himself away from the wrestling ring so I have no issue with him turning TNA down, truth is he prolly save the company a boat load of money, which more than likely is more helpful for the company long term than anything he could do as part of the roster

It's no secret that Page and Bischoff are friends, and I have no doubt that Bischoff was very much behind this move to bring Page back. I'll go with what everyone else has said here and say that I'm glad that DDP turned down the offer. There's no need for him to come out of retirement at the age of 54 and wrestle, and it's not like TNA needs more people on it's roster. Page knows his time as a wrestler is over. You should also factor in the fact that DDP's going to be hosting the WWE's Nitro DVD set(s), and him jumping to TNA may not have been the best move, financially, for him.

I think that it was probably a better decision for DDP himself to not come into TNA. It would make him look like Ric Flair, a guy who's hanging around too long because he needs the money. I don't deny that I wouldn't mind seeing DDP there just because I used to like him quite a bit, but what good does it do for him or the company? It's just another un-needed expense on the TNA budget. I'm sure that DDP does have plenty to offer TNA outside of the ring too. I wouldn't be shocked if he was a good color commentary guy, or if he was working backstage in some capacity. He's got plenty of experience and acquired knowledge of the business so of course he could be of use. I just don't see it as a necessity for him or TNA. Whoever thought "Let's go and spend more money we technically don't have" needs to be smacked around with a shovel for about an hour.

My guess is he would have been brought in as a manager or a wrestler, in either case it doesn't matter bringing in DDP wouldn't have really done anything.

I personally liked DDP as both a manager and wrestler but it's been so long that I bet a lot of people wouldn't even know who DDP is and they probably wouldn't see him as a big name, although he was at one point. DDP has been irrelevant for so long that his return wouldn't help anything, it would cost TNA more money than it would make them.

I feel he would just fall into obscurity quickly and that would be that.

DDP was good, but I question if he would still be good at 54.
