Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer

So now this thread has turned into a FSWWE, the guy cumming all over himself at the mere thought of a Harry Potter movie, bashing gays?:disappointed:

Jesus, just bring on the teaser trailer. Next, the real trailer. After that, actual scenes. Then, finally, release the film (so it can stomp the absolute shit out of Harry Potter :))

I'm going to see a double showing of both Harry Potter Deathly Hallows on Thursday night. If there is no trailers attached because its a double showing, I will be supremely pissed off!

I might consider seeing Harry Potter if I can find myself an interested companion. I have absolutely no desire to put myself through a batman movie .

If I was going to project numbers for the films; based on the drawing power of other nerdgasm flicks over the past couple of years Batman will easily top 600k, but I can't see any reason why it would outdraw The Dark Knight given the reduced hype. 800k seems like a reasonable estimation. From what I understand (and bare in mind this is a franchise I would struggle to care less about) DKR is not a direct sequel, which means its numbers are going to be less closely tied to the preceding film.

Harry Potter is more interesting to consider. Logic dictates that pretty much everybody who went to see part 1 is going to go and see part 2 which brings it effortlessly up to the number I projected for Batman. One would be forgiven for thinking that being the second part of the story would alienate viewers who have not seen the previous entry, but history shows this to be untrue. Return of the Kind crushed the previous LotR films at the box office, and it seems reasonable to expect Potter to do the same. Deathly Hallows Part 1 has been out on DVD for six months now making it accessible to people who didn't see the first film. Part 2 has more hype than any entry in the series bar the first, it also has a better critical reception than any previous entry. In contrast DKR will not be riding a wave of hype close to its preceding title.

I confidently expect Harry Potter to comfortably defeat Batman at the box office. Batman will probably have a stronger opening weekend because it's a geek movie, and geeks are fanatics, but even with its core demographic being people who actually go to see movies multiple times it won't topple Potter, especially on the international markets.

Damn right too.

Young Ra's Al Gul is confirmed, not Liam Neeson. When they shot in India people took this picture. Of course fan boys are going crazy that it's the Lazarus Pit. Ra's makes sense to bring it back full circle, plus with Talia (unconfirmed) and Bane being in it, it all fits.

Liam Neeson was shooting scenes in the last two weeks. He was actually on set.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 grossed a huge $43.5 million last night during midnight showings in 3,800 locations, shattering the midnight box office record previously held by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which earned just over $30 million from midnight shows in 2010.

The final picture in the magical franchise topped all other Harry Potter movies’ midnight grosses. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 earned $24 million at midnight last year, while Half-Blood Prince pulled in $22.2 million. Part 2 also more-than-tripled the $12 million that Order of the Phoenix earned at midnight, and earned almost seven times as much as Goblet of Fire, which grossed $6.3 million at midnight.

Pretty good ah?

Hardly a surprise. I saw it at midnight, but no trailers were shown. So no non-shaky Dark Knight trailer for me.

The Potter film was like all the others, nothing more than alright.

Son of a bitch.

Harry Potter Day one total.

USA: 92,100,000
Foreign: 82,500,000

Worldwide day One total: 174,600,000

That number is staggering and there's still two days to go.
