Daniel Bryan has given an interview to the New Orleans paper "The Times-Picayune as part of promoting this coming Monday's Raw, which takes place in New Orleans. Bryan touched on his WrestleMania aspirations by saying:
"Brock Lesnar is also supposed to be on Monday's show. And to me, that's still my championship. My dream match for WrestleMania this year is if Brock Lesnar keeps the title and I win the Royal Rumble, and I wrestle Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 31 for the WWE championship. That's the match I want. That's the match that I've been thinking about this entire time that I've been injured."
Bryan's certainly saying the right things and, just like was mentioned with Bad News Barrett regarding the Intercontinental Championship this past Monday, Bryan never lost it. He had to vacate because of injury. As a former champion, Bryan is entitled to a rematch at some point. Of course, champions are "supposed" to defend their titles at least once every 30 days but Lesnar's been champ for 141 days and he's only had one damn defense 'cuz he's special.
The article talks about the issue Bryan had with his neck and how he was scheduled to undergo another surgery in August to alleviate the nerve tissue that was causing the loss of strength in his right arm. Just a couple of days before the operation, doctors cancelled it and advised against having another surgery with the doctors telling him that he just needed to do extensive rehab, which he did for several months, without much to show for it. Bryan discovered a doctor named Greg Roskopf in Denver, Colorado and is the founder of Muscle Activation Techniques. After two sessions, Bryan began seeing results.
"It was like, 'Wow. I'm actually getting better'.At the beginning of December, some parts of my right arm were even stronger than my left, which is pretty incredible given how long the nerve had been damaged."
Earlier this week, Bryan returned to the WWE Performance Center to work off some ring rust a few weeks ago, doing mostly kickboxing and Jujitsu, and feels like he's ready to return.
"Functionally, I feel great. My movement is great. Overall, I feel good. I didn't have any hesitation in the ring, there was nothing that I did before that I can't do now. Not only that, mentally I've been recharged. I'm going to be better than ever."
There are reports stating that Bryan is due to return to in-ring action next week, specifically SmackDown! when it moves to its new night, though I suppose it's possible he could wrestle at Raw. However, I'm guessing that they'll use Raw to hype and set up Bryan's match for next Thursday.
