Thanks for the compliment. :)

OK, so I've been continuing to experiment with brushes and trying new things, mostly out of boredom. I decided to see what I could do if using an image rather than a render. I selected her eyes and mouth, inverted the selection, and desaturated everything. I used ShiftyJ's Midnight City brushes to add in the arrows and lines, using colors I sampled from the original image. I erased some parts on her face, in order to give the illusion of depth. The halftones on her arm were set to Overlay after I erased the parts not on her arm. The circle behind her name was a custom shape vector from a pack I downloaded the other day. The spacing between the lines of text had to be adjusted before I added a 2px stroke on the text, and a black/white border.

OHHHH AND I KNOW WHEN IT'S JUST YOU AND I
I'LL SHOW YOU AND YOU WON'T DENY
IT'S SEXUAL

I love Mark Henry. I find him to be inherently amusing and just fun to watch. The Sexual Chocolate gimmick was just great. We were talking about him and this gimmick in various spam-friendly sections, so I decided to make a sig of it.

I started out with that render of Henry. I did some random grunge brushing in the background before duplicating the render and smudging it several times. I duplicated the render of Henry one more time and set it to Overlay to sharpen the colors on him. I felt things were missing so I found some chocolate on Google and blended it in. Then I found a Hershey bar and edited it to make it say "Henry's" and "Sexual Chocolate". A 1px brown border finished it off.

It's a pretty simple graphic, but fun to make nonetheless.

Hey, I actually followed a tutorial right this time! Well, not really, because it wasn't turning out well at all so I did things my own way near the end.

The Tutorial I followed was actually posted by TPP in his thread, so check it out if you want it. I have been way impressed with Rhodes lately, so I wanted to pay tribute to him accordingly. I did things a bit different from how the tutorial said when it came to duplicating my render for the last time, and doing the Gaussian Blur steps. Mostly I changed blending modes from what the tutorial said. I also wanted it to be blue, so I added in a hue/saturation layer and a black-and-white layer and adjusted them to make it work. The text is Bickham Script.

I'd wear it if I wasn't busy wearing the one wiigotaproblem made for me.

I'm in love with the Scott Pilgrim universe. And I'm really in love with Ramona Flowers. She's my favorite character, because she's cute, has colored hair (Apparently I really, really like that. Who knew?) can kick ass, and is really sympathetic. She's awesome.

I made this by assembling various pictures of her from the comics in the background and adding strokes to each one. I did some scanlines over the top, added the black bar and some layer styles to that, and added movie-Ramona (which I cut myself) on top. I Applied the background image sans scanlines and did a Gaussian Blur and set it to Hard Light. I then duplicated movie-Ramona, did Gaussian Blur and set it to soft light. A comic-style border and drop shadow finished it off. Text is Small Fonts with some layer styles added to it.

It took a lot longer and was a lot more difficult than the description makes it sound...

All I have to say is no matter what you make it always seems to turn out good. I really love the deathnote sig and even though I really am not that interested in anime it makes me want to watch it anyways.

The Ramona Flowers is just freaking amazing. Even though I have never seen the movie, I love the way you combined comic book elements and human elements (I'm assuming thats Ramona) is something really different and works really well.

Original version:
city-1.png

The Protomen is my favorite band, and I don't care what Xfear says. This sig was originally going to be a shot of the final scene of Act 2, with Thomas facing down the angry mob as the city burns, with the letter from Emily in his hand. Well...that didn't happen. Instead, I decided to go the silhouette route. The general idea is there, but it came off as more representative of the song "Light Up The Night", where Thomas and Joe plan to take down Wily's city by use of bombs - lighting up the night. When I shrunk it for use on WZ, I changed the quote to Light Up The Night instead of the original quote "The City Needs You Now", to reflect this.

It may not have been what I originally wanted, but damn if it didn't work out in the end.

I did not get the idea of it .. but I don't like the silhouette .. the BG is fantastic tho the font was not that good needed a bit of ur time to play with it (: !

KIU ! ;)

I did this the way I've done several sigs: Try to follow a tutorial, get lost in the middle, do things my own way. If you Google "Vector sig tutorial", I'm sure you'll find it. Anyway, I goofed around a bit, following the tutorial and putting random vector brushes that Axeraider70 made on it, sampling colors from Bryan's trunks. I also put a C4D from Planet Renders onto the sig, set it to Difference, and changed the color to red to match Bryan's trunks.

This was fun, just killing time. I like how it came out.

Yes, I made a sig of myself. :lmao: No guesses as to what song I was listening to when I got the inspiration for this.

Anyway, I felt like experimenting a bit, so I took a picture of myself, cut it out, and started with a 500x300 canvas. Did smudging, lighting adjustments, and added a ball of light to my fingertip and adjusted the lighting accordingly. Added a black and white gradient map set to Lighten in order to get this cool effect. I think what I was aiming for was a kind of cave-feel. Originally I wanted to do something all sparkly and fantasy-inspired, but I found that toning it down worked so much better.

You'll also notice (or maybe not) that I've added a watermark to the image. I'm going to start doing that so that even if people take my sigs without permission and don't credit me, my username on here (and almost everywhere else, except for a few places where I'm lordofallkobuns, kobunlord, or Cobra T Washington) will still be on the pic.

Feeling inspired ftw. So I've been listening to Neon Indian lately (for a sad reason, but whatever) and the one song I always go back to is "Should Have Taken Acid With You". It's a great, great song, and it was on my mind today as I sat, bored, in UVC class. I ended up idly doodling a scene similar to this, and loving the feeling behind it. So, I remade it in Photoshop. Got some space and planet stocks, a silhouette of a guy, and added lighting and effect brushes and layers. The words at the bottom are my favorite line in the song.

I love how it turned out.

Man, been a while, hasn't it? Well, I'm back with a new anime sig, from Hellsing. Again!

This was pretty fun. Didn't know where I wanted to take the sig, style-wise. I just knew I wanted something grungy and intimidating to go along with the awesome quote I found. I smudged a load of copies of the Alucard render to create a nice textured background, and then used blood spatter brushes set to Overlay to make cool borders and add some color. I layered two copies of the render on top of each other and used the Screen blending mode to make it lighter and a bit more washed out in keeping with the style I wanted. I then smudged the edges of both renders in order to blend them into the background. I added a red stroke to the font, set to Overlay.

Fun story: This started out as a 400x200 sig, but I decided I needed a bit more room to work with, so I changed the canvas size to 450x200, applied the image, and copied/pasted a section of the background, placing it in the blank space, and I smudged the edge of the Applied image and the copied BG in order to make it seamless.

Last but not least, I added a red grungy "Nameplate" behind the text with a brush because I think it ties it all together and helps the text pop and added a single pixel red border. I like how it all turned out!

FA-HINALLY! THE DOC! HAS COME BACK! ...

damaged.png

The title of this piece is "Damaged" Cody Rhodes.

I love Cody Rhodes' new character. I have wanted him to get a mask ever since he started being DASHING, because I wanted the parallel with Vega from Street Fighter. The fact that he's turning into an absolute nutcase and has gotten amazing on the mic just makes it better.

As soon as I saw Smackdown this week, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and how I was going to do it, and that's rare for me these days. I got a picture of a broken mirror and layered this great render of Cody onto it. I erased a few parts that were overlapping with the mirror's frame. Then I set it to Vivid Light, I believe, and duplicated it a few times so that it had the cracks in it but still stood out. The text was Impact with some brushes clipped onto it. I then put a black and white adjustment layer over the whole thing and that was that.

I know it seems simple in this explanation but it was actually some careful work. I think it took about an hour and a half. I wanted to get everything just perfect, and I think I did so.

Feedback (or a compliment or two ;)) is very welcome.

10/10

That sig is Dashing. I to Love the new Cody Rhodes and I also love this sig the Glass effect looks Really Nice, the text is nice and l like that its in Black and White. I think this might be my favorite of all the sigs that you have made.

Great Work Doc.

I don't usually feel the need to comment on other people's work, but I saw your Cody Rhodes sig earlier and was blown away. I also did a post-dashing sig for Cody and I also love the gimmick.

I can't say why, but this is one of my favourite sigs I've seen in quite a while. Defs my fave of yours. I'm not sure if it's meant to, but it reminds me of those old B&W horror films. The shattered mirror is perfect for it.

10/10. 'Nuff said.

I absolutely LOVE this one. I love the shattered glass as I think it compliments Cody's current character. The text fits the graphic perfectly and the black and white just makes it look badass overall. Very fine work indeed, Doc.

A Softer Fall

a_softer_fall_by_lordofallkobuns-d3f221i.png

And now for something completely different - a comic! There's a webcomic out on the internet called A Softer World. It's really quite good, check it out. Well I was reading a lot of them today and I became inspired. I wanted to try something similar, using a concept and lyrics from The Protomen. I chose the song The Fall since it's one of the most emotional, in story and sound, and I set to work. I took lots of pictures, used different adjustment layers on each panel, and created a group for each panel. took me all day but I got it done and I really like how it turned out. I hope you do too.

Your signatures are simply amazing!!
Your Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan signature are simply the best i've seen here...
I would love to see more Wrestling sigs, instead of the anime sigs (that look awesome too, dont get me wrong)
It's almost impossible to give you critics, because you are better than me in every aspect of photoshop!!

I hope you check my showcase and give me some feedback and tips!!
Thank you, and keep up with these outstanding signatures!!!

Jeesh, I'm out of practice.

buffsig.png

So, um, Buff Bagwell. Random render, I like his theme music. OK. Don't judge me.

I made this sig because I'm really trying to break out of the plateau I'm on. I feel like tutorials just aren't helping me create anything new or unique. I started with the original render and did some normal smudging and sharpening, and then I started throwing everything and the kitchen sink at my computer. I'm talking C4Ds in the background, nebulas for lighting effects, adjustment layers, vector shapes, random brushes, everything. Eventually I got this.

I kind of wish I had saved the PSD, or at least the non-text version. There were so many things I did to this and so many adjustments I could have made.

Ah well, I'm happy with the result. Hopefully I'll get out of this plateau soon.
