TNA Pay-Per-View: Genesis, Saturday January 1, 2011
TNA has been promoting for the last 6 weeks that on January 1, 2011 TNA will change forever. Dixie Carter has said it and everyone has an opinion but no one knows the truth except Dixie. Everyone is on edge and wondering what Dixie has up her sleeve. The PPV begins to clips of the different TNA titles standing out in the foreground. Thats followed by a shot of Dixie backstage alone, looking a bit nervous. We then pan to the ring that now has a gold mat with black letters that read, TNA WRESTLING. The ropes are black and the turnbuckle pads gold. There are no fireworks and the fans are crazed, waiting to see what is about to happen. We then head to the announce table where Tazz and Mike Tenay sit, both dressed in slacks and black TNA polo shirts with gold writing.
The two of them begin chatting about their new uniforms, the ring and what Dixie may have in mind. Both seem excited yet a bit reserved with what may come. With that, Jeremy Boraschs voice comes over the PA system and announces the arrival of Dixie Carter. She makes her way down the aisle dressed the same as Tazz and Tenay, enters the ring and is passed a microphone from a stagehand at ringside.
Dixie begins talking about the past of TNA, Jeff Jarrett and how things started. She then moves into Hogan, Bischoff and the current state of TNA. Dixie says she has been listening to people all along and she has not seen a major change in the business. So now, she is listening to one person and one person only who will have the companys best interest in mind and not their own. So without further ado she announces the NEW TNA President, Tommy Dreamer!
Dreamer heads down through the fans dressed the same as Tazz, Tenay and Dixie. He climbs over the guard rail and enters the ring. Tommy hugs Dixie and she hands him the microphone while standing beside him.
Tommy begins to speak and thanks the fans for being here. He then thanks Dixie for the opportunity she is affording him. He then goes on and states that he has worked the Indy circuit, for ECW, the WWE and more. He goes on and states that he has seen every version of wrestling possible. Now, its his time to show the world Total Nonstop Action like they have never seen before! Dreamer informs Dixie, the fans and the boys in the back that he does not play sides, has no favoritism and cannot be pressured. That said, he goes on and says anyone not a wrestler will wear this attire (points to himself) and every staff member is on equal ground. The days of I am better than he or she is
.OVER! Finally, and I know this is not going to be a popular decision with those in the back with a title; EVERYONE is stripped of their belts as of now and tonight titles will be EARNED the old fashioned way, with HARD WORK!
The camera pans to the back where the entire roster is gathered. Referee Earl Hebner is asking each title holder for their belts which they all reluctantly hand over. He then hands every wrestler a card with their name on it. Back to the ring we go.
Dreamer states that tonight we will see matches that will crown new champions, matches that bring you to your feet and matches that will change the face of this company forever! You have a card he tells the wrestlers, thats your match tonight! Take it or leave it! Its a new year he claims and tonight we celebrate! Dreamer heads down the ramp to the back with Dixie Carter.
Tazz and Tenay are shocked and say they cannot wait to see what tonight brings. (SEGMENT TIME: 20 Minutes)
***We head backstage where the entire roster (face and heel) are all stunned. Christy Hemme tries to get a word with Hulk Hogan who brushes her off and says Not Now. (1 Minute)
We then head to the ring for our first match of the night:
Match 1: Ladder Match for the X Division Title: Doug Williams vs. Kazarian vs. AJ Styles vs. Amazing Red vs. Brian Kendrick
Williams (the stripped champion) takes on Kendrick (who he has problems with as of late). Red gets in there based on his X talent. Styles and Kazarian are put in to settle an ongoing feud between them that cost them both spots in FORTUNE. The match has some very high spots, rough bumps, and exciting high flying action. At the end of the match it is Williams climbing the ladder and Kazarian climbing another one that entered the ring during the action. With one on each side of the belt, both almost at the top, Styles jumps from the turnbuckle onto the top middle of Kazarians ladder. He knocks Kazarian off, pushes Williams ladder over from the top with Williams on it. Williams falls outside the ring for a major bump. AJ Styles reaches up, grabs the belt and is crowned the NEW X Division Champion!
Styles, the original TNA star is back on top with the title he can give the most credit to. His X skills are unbelievable and can carry this division for a while. Call this the re-building of AJ Styles. (Match Length: 18 Minutes)
***Backstage we go where we see some of the top stars arguing. Over what, we dont know but we are sure its what is written on their cards. Back there are Van Dam, Anderson, Hardy, Morgan, Hernandez and Terry. (Segment Length 1 Minute)
*** Christy Hemme chases down Kurt Angle and asks his thoughts about what has gone on tonight. Angle says he thinks it is going to be great for TNA and the fans and if guys want something they are going to have to learn to take it the old fashioned way, Hard Work. (Segment Length 2 Minutes)
*** We see a quick shot of Samoa Joe lifting weights in the back and head back to the ring (Segment Length 1 Minute)
Match 2: World Tag Team Title Match (4 Team Elimination Style) If one team member is pinned both are eliminated. Beer Money w/Ric Flair vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Team 3D vs. Generation Me.
The top 4 tag teams in TNA (talent wise) are put to the test to see who can become #1. Beer Money has been on a roll of late and are solid members of Fortune. MCMG are one of the most talented teams in the industry and Generation Me has been having some great back and forth matches with them as of late. As for Team 3D, who can argue with the # of tag titles they have won.
As the match proceeds, Team 3D is eliminated first when Bubba and Devon finally come to a head and Bubba lays out Devon with a Bubba Cutter and walks away allowing Robert Roode to get the pin. It is Beer Money eliminated next as Alex Shelley pins James Storm while Flair was distracted by Sabin. Down to two teams now, MCMG and Generation Me. These two teams put on a great 10 minute display of back and forth talent that brings the fans to their feet. Finally, with Max and Sabin battling on the outside its Shelley who gets a flying cross body on Jeremy for the 1, 2 3. The Motor City Machine Guns are the TNA Tag Team Champions and can embark on a face oriented degenerate angle the likes of DX. Both teams shake hands at the end of the match showing mutual respect for one another. (Match time 22 Minutes)
***After the match we again go backstage where Orlando Jordan, Jesse Neal, Shannon Moore, Kevin Nash and Eric Young are arguing with Dreamer as they found out they have been left off of tonights card and have no chance of winning a title. Dreamer is pleading his case as we shift to Mick Foley who is preparing for something. (Segment time 4 minutes)
We hear Jeremy Borasch announce that the next match is for the NEW Extreme Championship that will be fought under hardcore rules!
Match 3: Extreme Championship Match for NEW Extreme Title Belt: Mick Foley vs. Abyss vs. Raven vs. Rhino.
Dreamer brings the ECW style to TNA for a new title belt. Who better but these 4 men to battle it out? After 14 minutes of rough action, weapons, and blood spilled all over the arena, it is Abyss who pins Mick Foley by putting him through a table of barbwire to become the Extreme Champion. This is the conclusion of the angle that started last week on impact and allows him to become the new hardcore legend of the future. (Match Length: 14 Minutes)
*** In the back Tommy Dreamer is sitting with all the TNA Knockouts and tells them that due to the limited number of female competitors on the roster he is doing away with the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title Belts. Until further notice there will only be a TNA Knockouts title, and that will be renamed the TNA Womens Championship.. He then tells those who have been chosen to get ready because they are next. (2 Minute segment)
***Ric Flair is seen backstage screaming at Beer Money for their loss in tonights match. (1 minute segment)
***Christy Hemme then catches up with Eric Bischoff and asks how he feels about Tommy Dreamers appointment as President. He stops, looks at Christy, slaps her in the face and continues on his way out of the arena. Hemme is in tears as we cut to the ring. (1 Minute segment)
Match 4: TNA Womens Championship: Madison Rayne vs. Sarita vs. Hamada
There is not enough talent to hold both a tag and singles ladies title in TNA. T&A only goes so far and the womens title needs to bring WRESTLING back to the fold. Rayne gets the chance as she was the former champion and with what we had to work with the next 2 skilled women were used.
The beautiful people attempt to escort Rayne to the ring only to be stopped by security. Rayne is allowed to the ring but Von Erich and Skye and forced to return to the back. The winner of the match and new TNA Womens champion is Hamada as she pins Rayne. Hamada brings some credit to the belt and allows TNA to hopefully sign better competition in the future. (Match length: 12 minutes)
***Dixie Carter is backstage and is being interviewed by Hemme. She says she is very happy with her decision and thinks Dreamer will do a great job and has shown it so far tonight. She is looking forward to what the future holds but knows there will be backlash with some members of the staff. Carter states that she hopes they will all be on board when they see the direction the company is headed. (3 minute segment)
***We head to the locker room of Ric Flair who is looking at his card. He goes off on the camera man and, in classic Flair style, rants and raves about what he has to do tonight. Obviously hes not happy and is letting us all know about it. (3 minute segment) (105 Minutes to this point of 180)
We then head to the ring and await our next match.
Match 5: TNA Global Championship: Rob Terry vs. Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe (4 corners match):
Terry, the former champion takes on Hernandez and Morgan who have continued their feud and Samoa Joe who has been on a huge run since his return some 9 months ago. 4 of the largest men in TNA are about to put on a display of power, strength and stiff wrestling. This is one of the shortest time matches on the card due to the fact these 4 men go all out and take some of the stiffest spots ever seen. At the end, Samoa Joe hits the muscle buster on Matt Morgan for the pin and the 1
2...3. This sets up a battle between Joe and Terry in the future as Terry will claim Joe never pinned him.
After the match, Joe grabs the microphone and thanks Tommy Dreamer for kidnapping him months ago and showing him that he needed to be the old Joe in order to further his career. He goes on to state the process Dreamer put him through and says that beginning on Impact next week he will start showing clips of his rough training sessions. (Entire match/Segment time: 16 Minutes) (121 minutes to this point)
***We go backstage where Ric Flair and Fortune are having a conversation. (Fortune at the moment consists of Robert Roode, James Storm, Desmond Wolfe (who regained a spot a few months back) and Steve Borden (no longer dressed as Sting)! Flair says he has been put in a match tonight and he wants Fortune to make sure he comes out on top. He says there is no way he is going out like this and to this man! (4 minute segment).
Borasch announces that our next match is the final time we will see either member wrestle in a TNA ring. Call it, a dual retirement match. It is 1 fall to a finish; there MUST be a winner! No DQ, no count out!
Match 6: Dual Retirement Match: Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan
Hogan and Flair both enter the ring to cheers from the crowd. As well, both entrances are longer than normal giving both men ample time during their last match in TNA. As the bell rings the 4 members of Fortune make their way from the back and stand at the top of the ramp. Both men fight as you would expect, as hard as they can putting everything on the line. They are throwing caution to the wind. Chair shots, steps and more come into play as two icons are both drenched in blood. Hogan hits the leg drop on Flair and gets a 2 ½ count. Fortune begin to make their way to the ring. Flair tosses Hogan out of the ring and Beer Money goes to stomp Hogan. Out of nowhere Borden stops them. You hear him saying, Not tonight. Tonight we find out who was the best and he refuses to let the rest of Fortune interfere. The match concludes when Flair has Hogan in the figure four. Both his and Flairs shoulders are on the mat and the referee counts to 3. The referee awards the match to Flair when Dreamer starts down the aisle. He enters the ring and shows the referee the replay on the big screen. He and the ref discuss it and the match is ruled a pinfall for both men. Dreamer gives a quick monologue about both men and their careers and they are both champions in their own right. He tells them to shake hands. After reluctance they both shake and hug and raise each others arms. This could be one of the greatest moments in wrestling history. Both men celebrate in the ring with each other and walk out together, drenched in blood. Neither man should lose their final match and found this the best way to handle the final match for both legends. (Match/post match time: 24 Minutes.) Total time now: (149 Minutes)
***We head to the announce table where Tenay and Tazz talk about the last match, the show so far and what we can expect in the final bout. They are ecstatic and it shows through their voices and the camera. (5 Minute Segment) (154 minutes used)
Match 7: MAIN EVENT: 10 man Over the Top Battle Royal for the World Title.
The champion and the man he defeats will wrestle on Thursday night in the main event for the title. (26 minutes total) (180 minutes will have been used) These 10 men were selected as they were the main event scene for a while in TNA.

(Wolfe as well has been on a huge roll since losing to Lethal on Impact).
