TNA SHUFFLES 2011 PAY-PER-VIEW LINE-UP: ‘TNA VICTORY ROAD’ RACES TO MARCH 13
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling is bringing its live “Victory Road” pay-per-view event to Universal Studios Orlando, March 13

“Victory Road” will move from its traditional July date to continue TNA’s road to “Lockdown". Scheduled to appear at “Victory Road” will be current World Champion Mr. Anderson, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Matt Morgan, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Jarrett and many more TNA Superstars in live action.

TNA’s “Destination X” pay-per-view event will move from March 13 to Sunday, July 10. For more details on “Destination X” and the road to TNA’s “Lockdown” pay-per-view event on April 17, visit www.tnawrestling.com

This is a nice small logical move. I wonder if they will do something with Hard Justice next. It's not a quality PPV.

I wouldn't be surprised if this PPV is done outside of the Impact Zone if they do well in February on the road.

It sounds like a good idea. Nothing that will shake up the company, but still its good to see a little change. I liked the patriotic theme and don't see how they could incorporate that into Destination X, but we'll see.
The 09 Victory Road was voted worst ppv from that year with the Jenna Morasco vs Sharmell disaster. So the name always makes me think of that year. And with them bringing in the Jersey ****es, hopefully they won't make that same mistake twice.

Id like to see a tournament like Against All Odds has. Have a different concept, but go with some kind of a match for #1 contendership.

At the end of the day, its just a PPV name. It seems illogical to have a name like that that's the same time as "The Road To Wrestlemania".

I think it should stay in July. I always felt like Victory Road was like TNA's Royal Rumble because it signaled the build to Bound For Glory. Victory Road is like "The Road to BFG". I dont think Destination X will be a good Bound for Glory hype starter.

I heard Destination X is going to be on the same night as Money in the Bank, so in hindsight the move makes no sense to me. I love TNA, now more than recently with the greatness of Genesis and all. But seriously, people will buy the WWE name every time. I digress...

Switching the PPVs is no big deal, the 1st ever TNA PPV was Victory Road and it was in November. But the road to Lockdown angle to it makes sense. I like it. Destination X hopefully they bring back the X-Cup and hold it on that PPV and make it a 4th of July extravaganza type thing. Just a thought anyway...

Doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. Its basically just a name change, only instead of coming up with something new they've just used an old name. Its not like Destination X was an actual showcase show for the X-Division guys anyway.

This will change, not because it should change, but because mechanically, it has to change. WWE and TNA's fan bases are not mutually exclusive; they are in competition (I'm not saying it's an even competition) for PPV buys. If you put both on at the same time, two things happen.

1) For the fans who'd buy both, you force them to choose one or the other. TNA loses for every fan of theirs that chooses to buy WWE that night, and the WWE loses for every fan of theirs that chooses to buy TNA that night.
2) More importantly, inDemand only gets the cut from one night of wrestling; they'd make far more money by selling the events on separate weekends. Every person who chooses to buy one or the other instead of both is one less total buy they have, reducing their revenue.

TNA will play chicken for a bit, but in the end, Destination X will be moved. We've already seen what people will choose given the option of watching either WWE or TNA on the same night.

Exactly. #2 is the one that matters here. Whether TNA wants to or not, they WILL change the date of their pay-per-view. They do not have a choice in the matter. They're not even going to play chicken. In Demand is going to make a phone call telling them they're going to move the PPV and what day they're moving it to and TNA will announce the change. It's very telling that TNA didn't even consult with them before they announced the date.

Looks to me like they are setting up for the World X Cup. It makes sense. NJPW is touring the US this year. I believe the talent will already be in the states at the time of Destination X so they swapped the PPV's around this year so they can pull it off without having to pay a ton of travel costs. The TNA X Division is about to get an influx of talent if some of these tryouts get signed so they should be in good shape for their all X-Division ppv by the summer. Victory Road being earlier in the year isn't a bad thing, Hard Justice after DX gives you two different gimmick ppvs in the summer to give you a little more incentive to order I guess.

I think tna should move this ppv closer to bound for glory. Its called victory road so it could kick of the road to bfg like wwe does with the rumble. It could build more hype for it and make everyone more excited about it. Whats the point in the road to lockdown,i realise its tnas second biggest ppv but i feel it would suit there number 1 ppv better.

Seems to me the reason why they moved Victory Road was to make LockDown look even bigger. "The Victory Road to LockDown" or something.

The World Cup is probably coming back this year as well. Remember, TNA has some talent from AAA they want to look at. I'm sure NJPW also wants to look at some other talents as well.

eh....we're talking destination x in july, right? same night as a wwe ppv? well I'm on of the few people here that rarely watches wwe programming and haven't ordered a ppv since wm24. Only decision I got to make is if I want to fly out of town if the ppv isn't shown. I for one hope they keep it on that date

A very smart move by TNA. They are doing it to improve the road to Lockdown. When they randomly throw an all X division PPV in that mix it really messes it up.Obviously they are trying really hard in the next coming months to get back on track and it really looks like they may get there by April.

Two words (sort of): Starrcade. 1987. (For those of you who don't know the story, WCW was going to make Starrcade 1987 its first PPV, so Vince created the Survivor Series PPV pretty much for the sole purpose of having it on the same night (Thansgiving, which was already the traditional Starrcade date) and then strongarming the main PPV company (Viewers Choice, which became inDemand in 2000) into showing only Survivor Series (even after WCW offered to move Starrcade to the afternoon) by threatening to withhold broadcast rights to the future WrestleManias).) Even if TNA wanted to do this, I doubt WWE would let it happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if TNA announced that date so they could pull a Royal Rumble/Clash of the Champions (each of which debuted on cable on the same days as a rival's PPV) and move the show from PPV to Spike.

Ahhh.. Road to Lockdown did i read???? Sounds a bit like Road to WrestleMania..

I wonder what TNA have planned for Victory Road this year then.. and it does make sense seeing it is called Victory ROAD!!!

I don't really care if they move ppv's around the calender.. but this one looks like TNA have an idea up their sleeves.. so am going to wait and see what it is..
