Computer: Shut off, or leave on

Not enough space around the battery, It's the only time my laptop gets hot.

My friend Kevin the computer nerd said I should leave it on and shut it down occassionally. He said it fucks with shit when you reboot all the time. So I leave it on and I have never had a problem and my cpu is old, and by old, I mean I bought it when I was in tenth grade....

Is your fan able to blow air out easily? If so, then you might try a cooling pad. I've never used one myself, but that's what they are supposed to be for.

That's because the fan can't blow the air out properly. Put it on a hard surface, or let it breathe somehow.

Leave it on. Overall it's better for it. However, it's always good to shut it down occasionally, to let the computer "reset" itself, clear its memory, etc.

Because it's better for them.

Some argue it costs more money to turn off and then start up again, then letting computer go into sleep mode.

I didn't buy this desktop, so (technically) it's not my choice whether it remains switched on constantly. So therefore I have to switch it off after using it. Plus to be honest, when I eventually get a Laptop, I will probably switch that off after using it.
