you're obviously blind, Tebow is a QB capable of playing in any style of Offense, thats why he was heavily recruited.
You can never judge a QB when the team around him was utter crap. Smith got drafted too San Fran, they sucked, and 3-4 yrs later they still suck. they have no receivers, a mediocre defense, and a solid running game. the QB can only do so much. When Michael Vick went to ATL he had nothing, and years later ATL really has nothing but they improved. Matt Ryan has a target to throw the ball too. Something Vick never did.
Vince Young went to Tennessee, he has no receivers, he was given an offense and made to run with it. Since the Young draft Tennessee hasnt improved theri receiving core. Do you see why Collins doesnt put up flashy numbers? Because he has no receivers. He has a running game and a strong defense. you Put Vince Young and and they'd still be undefeated.
Now Back to Tebow, he has all the ability to make a good QB, he has size, his pocket awareness is good, he has decent mechanics, and he can stand in the pocket, so i dont know where you're heading with this.
Besides the majority of College Football is option or spread offense, So Meyers is just keeping up with the rest of collegiate sports. Every QB in the last several years would like up and shotgun and sling the ball across field.. The only QB to really play in a pro style system has been Brady Quinn and he's sitting behind a guy who use to line up in shotgun and sling the ball from left to right down after down.
